Chapter 12 - Eleven - Don't leave me

JADE

The observation did nothing to find out more about the suspects, of what exactly I don't know. Amon wasn't bothered about this because I could see he suspected only one person. The niece of the person I wasn't able to meet today.

Aliya Mustaf - Reha.

Currently, we were sitting in Amon's chamber, thinking about what to do next. He sat on the sofa with his legs crossed whilst I sat on a cushion on the floor.

"Do we need to be thinking about this whilst all I have to do is kill somebody?"

"Yes, we need to plan what we have to do before you do your job."

"Me too?"

"Yes, you too."

I sat cross-legged on the cushion, bored out of my mind. I yawned loudly, just to irritate him. I looked up at him and saw him glaring at me. Time to put this on turbo.

"Hey", I began.

"What?"

"Can I call you Amon?"

"No."

"Awww, why?"

"Because I'm the master and you're the servant."

"I'm no servant."

"Sure, whatever you say."

I almost growled at him. Some seconds passed then,

"Hey."

"What is it?"

"Can I call you Amon?"

"No."

Some seconds passed.

"Hey."

"What do you want?"

"I want to go home with the kids."

"No."

"Mmm, okay."

Some seconds passed.

"Hey, Amon."

"You are not allowed to call me that."

"Sure, whatever you say."

He growled at me and I smirked. Some seconds passed.

"He-- "

"Don't you dare say it?"

"What? Hey?"

"What exactly do you want from me?"

"Question. Why are we still sitting here?"

"Because we are supposed to be thinking but you just won't allow me to think."

"Okay, I'll keep quiet."

Minutes after all that was heard was complete silence. Half the time I think Amon expected me to say something. Then suddenly,

"Hey."

"What?!"

"Are you falling asleep?"

"No, I was not."

"In that case, can I sleep in your bed?"

"No."

"What about both of us in it?"

"No."

"Only you?"

"No-- wait...what?"

"So does that mean I can sleep in your bed?"

"No!"

"Hmm, I see."

Minutes passed.

"Can I kiss you?"

"You are dismissed."

I grinned, got up from my seat, and out of the room, smirking. Before I left, I said,

"Good night, Amon."

AMON

That woman is a true pain in the neck, annoying and frustrating, nothing more, nothing less. I wonder why she is so resistant to orders and so STUBBORN?! I shook my head and sighed. Tomorrow I will have to tell Jade I told Aliya and Mumm-ra to stay over. Mumm-ra and I could be able to use that time to discuss the plans for the attacks on the enemy. I sighed once more and got up from the sofa. I changed into my nightclothes and got into bed. I couldn't help but remember her comment about sleeping in my bed.

So...annoying.

I knew he'd be annoyed and angry at me but not this much. At that moment I was hanging upside down from a thick branch at a high place in a very tall tree in the Kadir forest.

And doing sit-ups. It is as hard as it sounds. The king himself was sitting on one of the strong branches above me. Monitoring me and torturing me.

"....one hundred and ninety-eight...one hundred and ninety-nine.....two hundred. I'm done!"

"Add another hundred this time."

"But you said fifty."

"Hundred. Now start."

"Amon, c'mon. Let me down, I'm starting to feel nauseous."

"When you are done with the next hundred."

"C'mon."

"Okay then, say 'please'."

"C'mon."

"Say 'please'."

"C'mon, Amon. Oh my Ra, that rhymes."

"Are you even listening to me? Okay, I'm leaving. Until you've learned how to listen to instructions and orders, you are going to be stuck up here."

"Hey, you can't leave me here, Amon."

"Goodbye", he said as he began descending.

"Hey, you can't leave me tied upside down here!"

He didn't pay attention to me and kept descending, branch after branch.

"Amon. Amon. Amon! C'mon, don't leave me hanging!"

He still didn't pay attention to me.

"Amon!"

"If you are as independent as you make yourself out to be, untie yourself from there without falling."

"Amon!"

He didn't even look up to me.

"Don't leave me here", I whispered.

"Altair, this is stupid. Practically a suicide mission."

"I have to do it. Jade, for him."

"Noo! You always told me, 'never fall in love' but that's exactly what you have done."

"You don't understand now, Jade, but you will when you also fall in love."

"Altair, please, please, please. Don't do this. Don't leave me, please, Altair", I said with tears rolling down my cheeks.

"Jade, don't do this. I'm going and you are not stopping me."

"But you know what he has done to me. You promised to help me have revenge on him."

"That's in the past now, Jade! Now in the present, I am in love with Mumm-ra and you are in my way."

She pushed fifteen years old me from the way and stormed out of the tent. That was the last time I saw her again. That was until some other assassins, Rishab and I found her body in the Kadir forest.

Mumm-ra had another death on his hands.

"Please! Don't leave me!", I screamed.

I couldn't help it anymore. Tears streamed down ( or up ) my face I'm hot fury. All my hidden pain came back in those tears. All I saw before I fell unconscious was Amon's worried face as he climbed up to help me. Then darkness engulfed me.

While I was typing I couldn't help but remember all the fun stuff that went on while the handwritten version of this book was going on. An example is when I had a massive writer's block and I hadn't written for about three days, my sitting mate decided it'd be fun to hold a blunt cutlery knife to my neck, threatening me to write. Later she told me she was trying to 'motivate' me to write and it worked for some reason.

..........

Jade can be very annoying sometimes. Can it be from what she has been through? In the next chapter, she meets Aliya and Mumm-ra....
