[Next day]
When the children arrived at the classroom, they were surprised to see that Ann, a fellow student, was not there.
Since Anna was the teacher's daughter, she was usually the first to arrive before the others, so the children were curious about her whereabouts today when she did not show up.
Nysa said, glancing at her brothers, "Is Anna not going to come today?"
"Maybe, not. She would've been if she had to" David said as he shrugged his shoulders and sat down.
Ryan, on the other hand, sat with his brother and said nothing. All of the other kids gave him headaches, and the only person he made friends with besides his sibling was Anna. However, when she failed to appear today, he became depressed.
Anna shared his disposition of being quiet all the time, but occasionally she would smile and engage in small talk, which made her not entirely similar to him.
