Chapter 3 - Not arrogant enough

Alexander Wilde POV

Today is my 5th birthday party, but to me, the party didn't feel like a party.

The air feels very sophisticated and stiff, the kids bragging about their family and background, and some adults making deals.

This isn't a party at all.

Maybe it's just me who wasn't used to rich people's life yet.

But amazingly there is one kid who could mention his family members from 10 generations before him.

The oldest family member I know in my previous life is my great grandfather who was mentioned by my father once when he is drunk.

My father gets on a podium that was placed on the edge of the room, in the opposite direction of the entrance. He taps his glass with a spoon, earning him attention of most of the people present.

"Thank you for everyone being kind enough to attend my son's 5th birthday with my family."

The guests begin to clap their hands and saying compliments to my father.

This is my birthday, but I know most of them are here to lick dad's shoes.

"Now, let's welcome my son! Alexander Wilde!"

There is my sign.

I walk to the podium and begin my speech.

"Thank you, for the honorable guest for attending my 5th birthday. I wish everyone enjoys their time till the end."

I put my left hand behind my back and my right hand on my waist, then politely bow to everyone with a smile on my face.

When I walk away I begin to hear murmurs here and there about me.

Oh right... my Insigna.

I Should have worn that fancy gloves.

Now my polite gesture looks like I was trying to put my Insignia on display for everyone to see and show it off.

It's supposed to be my father's job to announce it to the guest.

There is no use in crying over a spilled milk.

I move aside, letting my father get the spotlight once again.

On his face plastered a smug face.

Can you stop making that face?!

Your enemy and those who don't like you are sending glares to use right now!

No, I should use this chance to mark those who I need to avoid in the future and add them to my "Possibly enemy" list.

And... done.

Later I could ask for the guest list and make a note of their name and appearance. Maybe I could check about them too.

Scratch that, I'll definitely going to do that. Better be cautious rather than regretting it later.

For possible friends or allies?

Nah... it is easier to look for bad points in a person than their good points.

It was a surprise that the number wasn't as high as I originally have expected it to be. Only around 10% of the adult presence.

Maybe they are just good at hiding their intention for me to realize.

Wow, my view of others was more negative since now I was rich.

Who says rich people's life is easy?

Wait, that person is me.

Still, I believe it was better live to be richer than living and overworking yourself only to make others became richer.

"As everyone can see my son has gotten his Insignia 3 days ago. And he got Violet!"

Once again the room filled with claps.

Not only Violet is the rarest Insignia, but it was also the strongest to use in battle.

People in this world respect those who are rich or strong, but those who are in both categories are respected even more.

Don't ask me how that makes sense.

"And not just that he also has Talent! Not just 1 or 2, but 3!"

Many guests gasp.

Some make a dissatisfied face, some were excited, while the rest look genuinely shocked to hear this.

The second group most likely sends girls from their families to me with the hope that I will get interested in some of them and make a connection with my family.

Urgh, if I keep thinking like this I may end like the edge lord with duck butt hairstyle, a banshee wife, and a tsundere nerdy daughter.

"His Talents are Minimum Input 50%, Multiple Casting, and Maximum Output 10.000 times."

Personally, I want to keep my Talents a secret as long as possible.

But there is a regulation that obliges people with Talent to report their Talent so even if my father doesn't announce it I still need to make people aware of it.

There is no reporter here so this news won't reach the public yet, but the government will announce it tomorrow on the national news channel so the world would know.

The government would want other nations to know that they do not lack strong individuals and that they have a future powerhouse like me on their side.

I would have been kidnapped and trained in a special hidden facility far from civilians so I can be molded into a super-soldier or something if not for my parent's identity.

"Now how about we see my son shows us his special talent?!"

This father of mine...

He loves to flex too much.

As a good son, I could only follow his wish.

(Mental Note: If I was a parent I would never flex my child)

I walk to a nearby pillar and put my right hand on it, the pillar soon has cracks all over it.

The result was crumbled and turn into a pile of rocks with various shapes and sizes.

All of the guests have their mouths gaping.

My father came to my side and whisper to me.

"Son I actually thinking about your talent in singing, but this work too. Good job." He gives me a thumbs up.

"Well, I think everyone has seen my son's technique, isn't he talented?"

Wow, he just rolls with it and continues.

As if nothing was wrong.

He could be a great host for a game show.

"Thanks for your attention everyone, please continue the party and enjoy the banquet our chef has prepared."

My father left the podium then walk to a group and begin to socialize with them.

He shows a smug face again.

Maybe it was I who was weird.

Yes, rich people need to act arrogant.

I am not arrogant enough it seems.
