Chapter 2 - Chapter 1 - The Moment Before

*Before Sam fell out from the rift*

"Li Ming, handle over the inheritance. I know you have it with you!!" A rough voice yelled at the person called Li Ming.

The person called Li Ming was surrounded on three sides.

"Bo Sun, does your Bo clan want to start a war with my Li clan?" Li Ming replied with clenched teeth and fists.

"Hmph, you overestimate your importance to the Li clan." Bo Sun scoffed. "Besides no one except us four know about the inheritance, how will anyone find out what happened in this backwater city."

"The inheritance doesn't suit your bloodline. Your bloodline suits the path of body cultivation. The inheritance suits my bloodline better." Li Ming tried to talk some sense into Bo Sun.

"That doesn't matter. I can't let you or your clan study this inheritance. This is the inheritance of the Elemental Sage, his understanding of the elements was so great that he planted all eight elements in the law seed realm." Bo Sun said with a hint of admiration in his voice.

"Besides we both know that one's bloodline has nothing to do with which law they choose to comprehend. Do you take me for a fool? This is a Law seed realm level inheritance." Bo Sun's voice turned icy.

Li Ming knew he had no choice but to fight Bo Sun and his two goons. Fortunately, he has higher cultivation than all his opponents, he was a mid-stage Golden core realm. Unfortunately, Bo Sun is also a body cultivator, the most annoying type of opponent to have.

Bo Sun is a dual cultivator; his qi cultivation is at the 12th level of the qi condensation realm. One realm below Li Ming. However, his body cultivation is at the late stage of the warrior realm. His followers are both at the early stage of the golden core realm.

Li Ming released his fire qi, which his clan is known for. Bo Sun was not surprised, he continued to glare at Li Ming while taking a fighting stance.

However, before they could charge at each other, a rift opened between both parties. Before either party could react, they were crushed by the sheer pressure radiating from the rift.

...

*Present day*

After walking for an hour, Sam eventually found a way out of the forest. He was lucky he picked the right direction that led to the nearest city; otherwise, he would have gone deeper into the forest.

Sam saw a city up ahead. The town was surrounded by a wall, probably to prevent outsiders from sneaking in. There was a gate, where people could go in or come out of the city. Guards were in front of the gate, felicitating those who wanted to go in or out. Sam saw a line of people on their way into the town. Sam walked to the line.

"Excuse me, sir. Do you know where this place is?" Sam asked the person in front of him.

The middle-aged man looked back to see who was speaking to him. When he saw it was a kid no older than fourteen, the shock was written all over his face.

Sam was taken back by the man's reaction. Then he started to wonder if the man could even understand him. It would be a pain if he had to learn another language. However, that wasn't the reason for the man's shock.

"Where are you coming from, kid?" The man asked.

To Sam's surprise, the man could understand him and he could understand the man. Sam was sure he was still speaking English. Do people here speak English or does it have something to do with the rift that brought him here? Putting that thought aside, Sam pointed at the forest he just came out of.

"How did you survive the elemental graveyard? It's said that you need to be a cultivator at the golden core realm to even dream of surviving there. And you don't seem to be a cultivator." The man examined Sam with a confused expression.

Sam on the other hand didn't know how to feel. Should he be happy or scared that calmly walked out of a place people considered a graveyard? Or should he be excited that the man just said the sword cultivator? Is this a cultivation world like those in the novels he used to read? Did he get transmigrated? If so, what op cheats did he get?

"Boy, did you hear what I said or do you want to keep the answer a secret?" The man startled Sam out of his thoughts.

"Sorry, I have no idea how I got there. My first memory is waking up there." Sam half lied.

The man scoffed, obviously not believing Sam. He turned back around, it was almost his turn to enter the city.

"Sir, I have nowhere to go and I don't know what to do. Can I please go with you?" Sam begged.

Sam believed it would be best to follow someone now that he was stranded in an unknown world. He needed information about this world and cultivation. Also, he doesn't have the money to pay for the entrance fee to get into the city.

The man looked at Sam again and asked, "why would I let you follow me? How does that benefit me in any way?"

Sam thought for a second and replied, "I can clean and cook. I also know a few things about alchemy."

Sam was a biomedical engineer and researcher before he came to this world. He believed with his background, alchemy shouldn't be that hard. He also learned about what alchemy is in the novels he used to read. Alchemy is the refinement of herbs and plants into pills or potions. It shouldn't be that hard, right?

" Alchemy? Hahahahahaha!!!" The man laughed. "Boy, what do you think alchemy is? It's not something someone who hasn't even started cultivating can do."

"I'm not an alchemist and I don't know much about alchemy but if you give me five years, I will be able to concoct low-level products. All I need is a teacher" Sam said confidently.

"Hmm.." the man was surprised by how confident Sam was. He even wondered what grade Sam's alchemic talent might be.

One should know that you need to have at least cultivation of the 4th level of the qi refinement realm to be able to even think of concocting a pill or potions. And your alchemic talent decides how fast you can concort anything.

Even though Sam doesn't have a cultivation, five years is more than enough time for him to reach the 4th level of qi refinement. Unless he has the worst cultivation talent. As for why, the man would be willing to put in the effort to help Sam; Alchemists are just that important. If a clan could get a grade 1 alchemist, that is a huge blessing for them because they will always be stronger than a clan that doesn't have an alchemist. He also happens to be an alchemist.

"What is your name, boy?" the man asked.

Sam thought about giving his name, but in the cultivation novels he read, the names are different from names in the modern world.

"What is your name?" Sam asked to test his hypothesis.

The old man scoffed, but he answered "Long Tian".

Sam smiled and responded, "I am Zhi You."
