Maki had to muster up all of his strength to stop Damian from going outside and getting himself killed. He had to thank his uncle, Helios, who quickly aided him as soon as he heard.
Maki stared at the screen in front of him, it showed them what was happening outside. He clenched his jaw and fists when he saw Artemis choking Maia.
"Let go of me Uncle, we need to help them"
"Damian shut up, do you even know what Artemis is now?"
Damian, who had been struggling from the men holding him, glared at Helios.
"I don't care, what if Maia doesn't revive? I can't lose her. There must be something we could do to help."
"We're already doing it"
Maki stated and both Helios and Damian stared at the young lad who was now sitting in front of a computer.
Upon Maia's instructions before she went outside to save Sol, he was to use the listening device as a means to connect to the mutiny hq.
Maia crossed her fingers, hoping that this would work and it did. Maki, who had been spending time learning the latest technology from the SDC, pulled off what Maia wanted to do.
The listening device had a tracker on it which was directly connected to the SDC HQ. Artemis had used it directly from HQ to monitor Maia. He had successfully intercepted it and broadcasted live what was happening outside.
From the moment before Artemis turned into a full mutant up till now where she was sucking the life out of Maia.
"Maki, this is not enough. We have to go help"
"Kuya, do you trust Ate?"
This question caught Damian off guard. Maki stared at Damian before his gaze moved to the monitor.
Maia who had lost her left arm was now lying lifeless on the ground beneath Artemis who was now being rained down by bullets by Sol.
"Maki… Maia is…"
"SHE'LL REVIVE!"
Maki firmly shouted which made the two men inside with him freeze on their spot. There was more to Maki's voice than just desperation. It was faith. He didn't see what kind of horrors Maia had gone through but if she had survived all of that then he was sure and he had hoped that this was just another test that she would be able to conquer.
He didn't need to pray, his belief in his sister was much stronger than any bond there was.
Then he saw it.
An aura. A golden yellow light enveloping Maia's body. Damian and Helios both stared into the monitor too. They could see it too.
Everything that the Seven City had believed, everything that had been taught to Sol since she was a child, and everything that Artemis had put her faith in.
It was all coming through.
Sol, who was being choked now by Artemis, stared as she watched Maia's body glow. The golden yellow light was coming from inside of her body, enveloping her small figure with its light.
"It's happening"
Artemis stared at Maia's body with glee, as she let Sol go and clapped her hands like a child waiting for her toy.
"Machai, my true daughter is emerging"
"Artemis, what have you done?"
"Oh mother, it's only just beginning. The true soldier is emerging. You should be prepared, afterall she emerges to avenge me… to —-"
Artemis, who was busy admiring the glowing light in front of her, didn't have the time to react when Maia powerfully kicked her on her side. Sol, who was also paying attention to Artemis, gasped when Artemis was sent flying to the other side.
And what stood in front of her was Maia, her left arm and eyes intact, even her injuries from earlier were nowhere to be seen. Maia looked down at Sol, and instantly the older woman felt chills run down her spine.
Her eyes which were crimson, the color of blood now shine lighter and brighter. A vibrant red like a pure and fine ruby, that's what it looked like now.
"Ma..maia?"
Sol hoarsely uttered, as blood continued to drip from her neck and her injuries. Maia stared at her and then lowered herself before placing a hand on her shoulders.
Everyone watched with their breaths on hold as Sol's injuries dissipate one by one. There was no light, no glow and no indication of an energy being transferred but Sol knew, she knew that everything in her body was getting better and it was because of Maia.
When Sol's injuries had fully healed, Maia stood up.
"Wait, are you still Maia? or are you Machai now?"
However, before she could even answer, a raging Artemis came rushing in readying to strike Maia.
"You impudent child!"
Maia, instead of blocking Artemis' attack, evaded it and grabbed her arm before tossing her away. It was pure strength that she was able to toss Artemis away.
"MACHAI!! YOU DARE TO GO AGAINST ME TOO! HOW DARE YOU"
Maia sighed before picking up the knife that was beside Sol.
"Unfortunately, Machai didn't want anything to do with you either, Artemis"
Artemis, who was shocked, gritted her teeth and clenched her fist, her long nails digging through her own palm.
There was one way to distinguish Machai and Maia. Machai was incapable of speech and a mind of her own. Like she said, she was just the perfect soldier, one incapable of disloyalty to their creator, Machai was nothing more than that.
"How, she should've emerge when you died"
"Who ever said I died"
Maia, who had stated this, jumped from her place to attack Artemis. She slashed her knife at Artemis to which the older woman countered with her nails.
"You… I'll kill you"
Maia wanted to feel hurt, she wanted to feel the pain and betrayal that she should've felt but instead there was nothing. She wanted to sympathize with her mother, to feel even just a little bit of pity for her.
Afterall, she was still her mother.
But all she felt now was nothing. And if it weren't for her survival and everybody in the pentagon, she would have no reason to fight Artemis.
Maia slashed one more time, harder, one that sent Artemis a good meter away from her.
"Tell me, are you really not going to stop? There's no reason for any of this. Wasn't the government our real enemy?"
There was desperation in Maia's voice but she only spoke the truth. What Artemis did to her and her siblings could wait and the truth about it wouldn't be hidden now anyway so there was no reason for them to kill each other.
What they should be focusing on now, is how to take down the government. Not taking down each other.
"NO!! I was supposed to take the government down with my creations. It will be my glory. So, hurry up and let Machai out and give Maki to me. Together we'll conquer this world"
Maia didn't understand and she thought that she would never be able to.
"Maki and I are staying here. So go back"
"Then there's no need for any conversation. I will have the both of you dead or alive"
Her speed which was incomparable earlier was now truly invincible. Due to the rage that had been built up inside of her caused her natural body parts to display hysterical strength. A physical strength that had come alongside adrenaline rushes.
Even though Maia knew this, she was still overwhelmed with the strength that Artemis' punch landed on her body resulting in a couple of broken rib bones. She coughed blood but quickly wiped it and consciously directed her healing cells to her broken ribs.
"Then let me say this for the first and last time"
Maia lifted the knife which she had been holding and using since earlier in front of her face.
"Mother, thank you for raising us, giving birth and making us live in a household full of love. Even if it was all but fake, I don't regret ever being your daughter. But, if there really is no other way to change your mind to reconcile then I'm sorry. I'm sorry but this daughter of yours should be the only one allowed to take your life."
As she said this, the knife's blade slowly was being enveloped by a golden yellow light. Maia's aura which had been hidden all of this time inside of her was now seeping out.
Artemis felt that chill run down her spine, she felt the fear as she stared at her daughter's eyes. But instead of being frightened, her face showed that of glee. She raised her hands and licked the blood on her nails.
"That's right, my daughter. It's you or I, if you die, I will have the perfect soldiers to complete my plans. Now die!!"
As Artemis and Maia once again clashed, a call rang inside the pentagon. An incoming call that was trying to intercept Maki's revelations.
Instead of being frightened, Maki quickly accepted the call and the first thing that appeared in every monitor inside that room was the logo of SDC. A few seconds later, a voice came through, a voice that was very familiar to all of the people inside that room.
"Maki, help us"
The voice had a frantic tone in it, like something very wrong had gone. There were screaming and gunshots. Maki frantically stood up and looked at both Damian and Helios who were both now confused.
Then, they all saw it.
The destruction of the mutiny.
