It seemed like a dream to me that the Captain was here! He came to save me, and I wished with all the strength of my soul that it was true and not just a dream from which I would wake up and still be tied to that awful bed.
I pinched the top of my hand to convince myself that it was not just a dream, and the pain I felt was the sweetest pain I had ever felt in my life.
His arms around my body, hugging me so comforting, were like washing away all the hands that had touched me during the endless hours of my hostage-taking. I felt his heart pounding against my chest. The heart doesn't lie and what I felt was that the Captain was in great agony until he found me.
He buried his face in the curve of my neck. His breath falling on my skin made me shudder.
"Of course I would come," he told me, and the tone of his voice scolded me. As if to say: how dare you ask such a thing? Did you have any doubts that I would come?
