Listening to Jimena's words, for a moment, my heart fluttered with joy, but immediately after, I thought that I shouldn't cherish hopes in my heart because I would be the one who would be hurt at the end.
Today when the Captain entered the room, I met the same icy and hard glance. The words which came out of his mouth didn't contain any trace of genuine interest in me. He was the same changed frigid man I saw on that dinner night.
But I noticed some other changes in him. His eyes were reddish, but I couldn't understand if they were from not sleeping or from drinking, and also, as it seemed, he hadn't had a shave the last few days, while the longest time he remained without shaving himself was for a day.
If I hadn't seen any change in his actions and words towards me, what could be helpful to me or our relationship if he didn't eat well, stay awake, or drink? I would rather he wanted to discuss the matter that caused him that behavior with me.
