Chapter 69 - Short-lasting Peace [Part-66]

Nita absolutely hated the Akatsuki. Obito was too busy with something and was never around for him to talk to him and have a pleasant conversation with. Itachi was behaving much more closed off with the Orochimaru incident.

The other Akatsuki members, aside from Kisame but he didn't really talk to the shark man, were all idiots. Sasori was always too obsessed with his art, or, puppets and even though he acted like puppets didn't feel emotions he still felt a lot of anger and annoyance which Nita knew counted as emotions. Deidara was, again, too obsessed with his art and he was much too young for Nita to talk to. Zetsu was not good at 'talking' about anything other than plants and Nita was absolutely disgusted with him so he ignored the sentient black plant-like thing usually.

Nita never wanted to be within a 15km radius with Hidan. Kakuzu was too obsessed with money and honestly, he was too much for anyone to talk to. Nobody aside from Konan could to talk to Pain and Nita was not interested in being between whatever those two had going on.

So, even though he hated to admit it, he was quite lonely with Tobi.

"*Sigh* What has my life ******* come to...?"

He stood up slowly and decided to go after the 7 tails jinchuuriki in Takigakure, in the land of rivers, as he was the closest to her at the moment.

They had actually already located most of the tailed beasts, except for one or two, and were just waiting for the perfect time to strike them but with his chakra fully recovered he didn't feel the need to wait around for orders. Obito probably should've known he would do something like this as he'd left him unsupervised.

The sooner the plan got completed, the sooner he would reunited with his family.

--- --- --- --- ---

Standing up, she noticed Matatabi's clone and the animals in the temple began to remove most of the debris in the front courtyard. The children had settled in the rooms she'd selected for them and started cleaning up there as best as they could too.

She sighed as she thought about who was reaching this place. Clearly, it wouldn't be a threat as Matatabi had begun her clean up already without a care in the world but Veronica still didn't get who would be able to come after her. It was likely by her scent, as she had her shadow clone erase any other tracks of her and there hadn't been much to cover up for the children's tracks except for their footprints.

'Is it-'

She froze completely as she sensed a familiar chakra getting near her position.

She hadn't completely been caught off guard with his appearance but it was still surprising for him of all people to come after her.

"Vero-chan. It's been a while."-Shisui

He waved at her and walked closer. His sense of smell and hearing had gotten much better. While being blind, he couldn't rely on his eyesight, obviously. So he had to hone his other senses to the best of their limits so that he could still function as a normal civilian.

Veronica's eyebrow slightly twitched in annoyance but other than that nothing in her expression changed as she turned around to walk back to the now invisible temple. It seemed as though Matatabi thought meeting Shisui would be a pleasant surprise for her.

She didn't say anything as Shisui spoke about the village and Minato taking up the hat again, or when he brought up her genin friends and that Shikamaru, Sakura and Shino were probably the only sensible of the teams. Her footsteps turned completely quiet when he spoke about how Minato took in Sasuke and how he's acting like a therapist for Kakashi. Her presence almost faded when he spoke about how Naruto and Sasuke are actually being treated better in the village and not usually whispered about that much, because Minato knows how to control rumors. She was as silent as an ANBU on a mission when he told her that Sasuke actually used his right as a clan head to begin a search for her.

"So how have you been these days Vero-chan?"-Shisui

She turned and stared at him for one second before nodding and Shisui went in to check out the place she was staying at. She could tell he didn't trust her completely but for some reason he trusted her enough to show his back to her.

Sighing slightly, she got prepared to answer some questions as he saw the number of shadow clones, and a lot of animals, working on rebuilding the temple.

He stared at her for a minute, likely digesting the fact that she had written that she had made friends with a tailed beast. He tried to ignore the fact that when he was reading the part about the 'major clans', she had stared at his eyes which likely meant that his ancestors, and perhaps the Senju as well, had once worshipped the tailed beasts.

"... I understand."-Shisui

He did not understand anything but he decided to pretend like he does for the time being. After all, lying was his career.

A clone, with a vast amount of tailed beast chakra appeared before him with a slightly different appearance than Veronica and he felt his hand instinctively went up to his kunai. The clone, seemingly unbothered by him, pushed some wood into his hands and told him to go fix up a part of the roof which had a massive hole in it.

He blinked a couple of times, and stiffly nodded before looking once at Veronica who was actually a shadow clone as it popped as soon as the other clone went off to do some other work and decided to just get started on his assigned work for now. He could observe the place from the roof and see what exactly was going on anyway.
