Chapter 27 - Why do I have to try? [Part-27]

[Well, he's already gathered almost all the sharingan from most of the Uchiha clan...]-Tobirama

'I thought that he would only take a couple... Couldn't anyone other than Danzo use those eyes then? Ugh... My own existence could-'

Veronica didn't continue with her sentence as she massaged her head and tried to think of her course of action.

[If he has all those eyes then many others besides Danzo could take advantage of them. From Veronica's memories we only got some parts of what would happen, there are MANY things we don't know. There could've been people with the sharingan roaming around the world and we would have no idea of it.]-Matatabi

'Yes, and if my presence causes Danzo to remain alive for a longer period of time than necessary then he could have even more sharingan to experiment with.

Did you find anything else?'

[A lot of other experiments were there as well. I'm guessing that Orochimaru and Danzo are working very closely right now.

It would be better if we destroyed them soon. We don't know whatever Shisui's course of action will be so we do need to be quite careful.]-Tobirama

'Makes sense. In 'canon' Danzo had Orochimaru get his eyes fitted in his arm made of... Hashirama cells. Since the massacre just happened, I think he would be having that 'surgery' right about now.'

Tobirama looked highly disturbed and angry at the mention of Hashirama cells.

*People say everything happens for a reason. So when I punch you in the face, remember I have a reason.*

'*Sigh* Well, we'll have to go and steal those sharingan soon after I'm out of the hospital. My shadow clone already went to check on Shisui and since it hasn't really 'poofed' yet, I'm guessing that things are proceeding smoothly.'

Veronica felt herself relax in the soft covers of the bed. Although the smell of medicine bothered her, she learned to ignore it just like the smell of blood that lingered on Kakashi when he would come home from missions.

Home. It was sill quite a distant topic for her.

But maybe this time won't be so bad?

'I can't sleep.'

[You're saying that as though you actually sleep.]-Matatabi

'I'm starting to regret giving you permission to go through my last life's memories...'

[Too late now.]-Tobirama

'You know I feel like I'll be the sort of person who'd asking for alcohol when things get stressful.'

[So, you'd have an addiction?]-Matatabi

[Why is that thought coming in your mind out of nowhere?]-Tobirama

'Yes, I probably would have an addiction and I don't know why it's coming in my head out of nowhere.'

[She's becoming a scatterbrain.]-Matatabi

Veronica could feel Tobirama and Matatabi shake their heads in disappointment and it made her face turn into a small frown.

Eventually she had strength to get up and go visit her traumatized duck of a brother.

'Ok, you guys are the old wise people here... What should I say to him?'

[You really think WE would know that? Us? Seriously? This poor guy here is an anti-social man who has known nothing but war. And me... People don't even approach me if they aren't about to kill or capture me.]-Matatabi

'Dammit.'

Veronica put on her smiling face as she walked in Sasuke's hospital room.

"Hey Sasuke"-Veronica

"Vero-chan... I..."-Sasuke

Sasuke was a lot calmer than before and instead of hatred a lot of sorrow could be seen in his eyes. At this moment, Veronica saw how small of a child he was. He wasn't a genius. He was just a little kid trying to be like his brother but instead of having those happy moments that every child deserves; he would have to be faced with the cruelty of losing his family by the hands of his beloved brother.

He was forced to relive the exact moment his brother betrayed him again and again.

*Breaking someone's heart is like crumbling up a piece of paper. You can smooth it over but it's never going to be the same again.*

And at this moment she felt again just how much more he would have to suffer in life.

'Whatever...'

She quietly sat beside him as he looked down at his own lap.

It was suffocating.

She didn't know what to say. She knew that having thoughts of killing his brother right now would be normal. The little child wasn't a genius.

He hadn't even seen the real world.

To Veronica he looked like a little white bunny slowly turning black.

'But a bunny will always remain a bunny. It won't grow into a ferocious rabbit. But I guess a black stained bunny won't need as much protection as a white bunny.'

Veronica didn't say anything for a while. She heard him say about how he would kill his brother. She heard him weep about his dead family, but she continued to slowly pet his hair and listen to his rambling.
