ăăThe first rays of light hit a man's eyes and then start a new darn, where mist and due decorate the landscape and there is a huge hall. a lot of people all over the kingdom were present here in the kingdom of 'Slope'. Today happens to be the naming of the new prince. The inside of the hall was full of life, dancing, music, drinking and so on. on the round table the king and some of his trusted advisors were seated waiting for the arrival of the young prince.
ăăAfter some time the music and the dancing stopped and behold the queen and her baby walked past the crowd and sat next to the king, the king stood up after to address his guests. He raised his glass to the air as a form of greeting which is done in the west of Archer, I thank all of you who have made it here today despite the challenges you must have faced during your travels, some of you have been on the road for months and for that I honour you. It is known in all of Archer, a king with no heir is nothing but a seat warmer and he can be thrown out of power at any given time but...today however is not that day instead, today is the day the legacy of the house of Hemba lives on. For over a thousand years the throne of Slope has belonged to my family and we're well respected by our allies and feared by a p our enemies. let it be known that king Jowns, son of Jowns the first from the house of Hemba has an heir. Today we celebrate at his arrival and if the gods will it the flow of wine will never end in his reign. He raised his glass again and continued, a toast to James, son of Jowns the second from the house of Hemba, long may he reign.
ăăLong may he reign, shouted the entire crowd. That was a fine speech sir, said sir Cruze(personal adviser to the king). I hope so, I¨ve been preparing that speech for months and I think it didn¨t come out well as much as I want it to, but still, I am glad it is done. what do you think about the party and our guests? hope no trouble between the representatives? asked the king.
ăăWell, there have been a few problems with the representatives from Dangan and the kingdom of Elftown.
ăăwhat happened this time?
ăăThey met in the corridors of the castle and one thing led to another, swords were drawn and they fought for some minutes before our guards could intervene. unfortunately, five of the men from both sides died in the fighting but both ambassadors came out untouched.
ăăWhen was this? asked the king.
ăăThis happened some hours before the ceremony began.
ăăand why was I not informed?
ăăthe matter was way beneath you given no one of importance died. plus you were too busy.
ăăbut, I thought the south was the noble type of people, I don¨t see why they hate each other, said the king.
ăătrue, the Southerners are well known for their nobility but there are rumours these two nations are on the brink of war, at this point nobility does ¨t count.
ăăany ideas on why they would want to go to war?
ăăin this case, I believe it has something to do with depths but the information itself regarding that is fickle.
ăăSuddenly the music and dancing began to fade as a very low cracked voice speaks, it was a very old woman who no one knows how she manage to get there, she continued speaking until the entire hall became silent.
ăăHere I thought I¨'ve seen it all but life continue to surprise me, all my life I prayed to the gods to grant me long life and fortunately for me, they did. I even manage to see my great gran's children, I saw the reign of three kings before Jowns the first and now his son is on the throne... making the same mistakes as his father did and the ones that came before. Today however is a day that marks the end of peace in Slope and the beginning of...blood. I believe some of us here are familiar with the song they call the falling realm. Some call it a myth, others call it a prophecy. well, every awful story they tell is very true, for those of you who do not know the song, The reign of queens are gone for long
ăăfor men rule since the beginning of just one
ăăfor usurpers and traitors are always in the mids of us
ăăfor subjects praise the crown and yet still starve
ăăAnd Jubilee takes place till the break of dawn
ăăWere joy is spread amongst the hall as they forget this very call
ăăbut a man with a poetic name at start brings this joy to all,
ăăAnd at last, the blood of men will flow upon that very hall
ăăon and on will come the wars
ăăas this man brings woe to all.
ăăEnough of all this...shouted the king, how dare you lay courses on your king? I will not stand here while you insult me to my very face and feed my subjects lies for that itself is treason, and how on earth did you get here? Guards ...take this filthy witch away for she will hang for what she has done.
ăăAt this point there was morning and whispers amongst the guest, the king is very angry at this point no one dares to talk to him. He looked at the crowd from where he was standing and there was a lot he couldn¨t believe, even some of his cabinet members joined the witch in her singing which was why he couldn¨t stop her from speaking, he felt betrayed, ashamed, disappointed, all the other kings will call him weak and say he has been cursed be a witch. With all that pressure he sank to his seat and he felt the arrow fly passed his head, with that he rushed and covered his wife who was by his right, they both took cover under the table. The entire hall was in chaos, blood was sprinkling from the neck of the guard behind him, the arrow was one of theirs, whoever did this was one of Slope's soldiers. it was an assassination attempt.
