Chapter 8 - 7 Unfortunate tendency

For the remainder of their stay in Zoweike City, Princess Samantha made sure to avoid Nick like he was the plague, even when they are in the same place, she acts like he didn't exist. Nick tried numerous times to get her alone to talk about what happened that night but it was all to no avail.

Finally after weeks in Zoweike. They reluctantly set out to continue the tour. Now head north to Catanic city. The mining district. After passing grape farms, and farms of root crops, they got to the district which was dominated by high mountains and Rocky terrain.

The riding was in no way smooth. They had to stop many times during the day to repair wheels or remove rocks, stuck in the horse's shoes.

They hardly passed any settlements so they were forced to spend the night in their carriages or tents.

Luna, on the other hand, was having the time of her life, she was more than amazed at the sheer size of the mountains and the rocks which were in many different fascinating formations.

Cravter, on the other hand, was always more than willing to teach her about history.

"Legend has it that these mountains are sleeping earth giants after they were released from the spell of wakefulness cast on them by an evil witch, they built the castle as a thank you gift to our forefathers, they came this way north and finally went to sleep here forming these mountains".

"Wow" exclaimed Luna. "What if they wake up now! They would just crush us all. I am scared to let's leave here quickly" she said tugging at the reins.

"Woah, Woah! Calm down" Cravter said while trying to steady his horse.

"Don't worry bunny! The giants are gentle creatures, that was where the phrase 'Gentle Giants' can from. Have you heard of it?" He asked.

Luna Nodded and he continued. " even if they were to crush us it would be a mistake but no need to worry. The Giants were so worked up by the evil witch that they swore to sleep for thousands of year so are perfectly saved"

They rode for days before they finally got to a rundown rickety inn. They stopped there and let the animals rest for some time and getting little rest themselves.

They didn't even intend to stay long as even the reception of the innkeeper and his wife was nothing like what they had been receiving from the start of the tour. When they were ready to leave, the sky turned dark and it started to rain heavily. They decided to sit it out and all cramped up in the inn's stuffy common room. The rain fell all through the day into the evening. Too late for them to start moving again and so we're forced to spend the night at the inn. They were given stale bread and little milk each and nothing for the soldiers or servants with them. The princesses had to share the few available rooms, the princes had to sleep in the common room, the servants sleep anywhere they could, in the stables under the carriages and carts, and some who could make up tents. Nick who was normally willing to make manageable arrangements was too preoccupied with his thoughts to even care. So it was the worse night any of them had ever had.

The next morning, everyone was up early, very irritated and grumpy. There were fights and arguments everywhere, even gentle Fred hit a stable hand for not grooming a horse properly, Cravter for the first time shooed Luna away while he was trying to remark their route, he had discovered that he had chosen the longest, most difficult route to Catanic City from Zoweike City. This road did not pass any towns and they were too far gone to get turn back or find another way. Luna, not understanding this concluded that Cravter was tired of her, she was so pained that she decided to ride with her sister Lune in their carriage. Princess Samatha yelled at Princess Olivia for bumping into her. Some of the princesses even started crying that they wanted to go back home to Brown city. Nick nearly hit the innkeeper for charging them an extravagant price for the use of the inn. Even quarrels had to be settled among the servants. Only the soldiers seem to be in their usual spirits Because they were used to this kind of situation.
