Chapter 3 - 2 The order

Not that I fear death, I've seen so many men die over the years some good others wicked while some innocent who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, I happen to pull the trigger on some of these occasions, the look in their eyes as they realize this was the end, it was the same. Am certain I'll get killed one day, have never actually imagined myself get old and that's how I know. Sometimes I wonder how someone like me could sink this low to the point of killing for a living and the worst part about this line of work is; it doesn't pay much only enough to get by, not enough to make plans or press forward in life. I guess that is how the game was designed and that is why we have so many killers in the streets. The only way out of this lifestyle if one is already involved is up, pulling the trigger each time without hesitation or remorse, or death. which is one of the reasons why am walking through this corridors to the main halls, as I walk past all I could do was wonder how many hit has been ordered behind these walls, hundreds or even thousands over the years. Today was supposed to feel like every other mission day but for one feeling or the other, it did not. The older folks in the organization usually act tough in the presence of a low rank like me but they did not. All I saw was pity in their eyes as if today was the day of my execution, not that I was scared but I know today was an unusual day within these walls. The hall is well furnished despite the purpose of its use.

There you are, I've been waiting for you. He walks closer to take a better look at me up close, he is a tall man and he appears he is in his late fifties, despite his age he still looked muscular and strong. He has a scar stretching from the top of his right ear to his jar line which makes him appear scary and intimidating, his aura is very dark and it's not hard to tell that this man has done so many unspeakable things throughout his life. He stood in front of me and placed his right hand on my shoulder, he looked into my eyes as if he knew me or as if he was proud but at the same time sad. You've grown up to be a fine young man James or 88 as you call yourself these days, and well built too, also good looking. The truth is you possess a lot of qualities you don't even know yet which is why you are here. You may be wondering why am speaking so informally to you but you and I are a lot closer than you think, let me put it like this, I and your mom go a long way back and you can think of me as a godfather cause that's exactly what I am to you. You so much look like your mother God rest her soul. Come with me and let's have a drink. We walked to another small hall with fancy lights and expensive-looking leather chairs, this hall also has a small bar by the corner with lots of different expensive drinks. He picks a bottle of whiskey and poured drinks in two glasses and handed me one. You can sit James these chairs don't bit. As I was saying oh I forgot where was I? The reason why am here sir. Yes, well you see there's been some developing issues in the ranks and things are a little bit messed up here and there which is why this mission has landed on your table for you turned out to be the only one perfect for the job. This is a top rank case and hits like this often come with a file, that I believe you are already aware of. He reached out to the table beside him and picked up two files and handed me one of them. You can open the file and see for yourself who the target is. It says here the job is due for three days? Yes, that's the issue I was talking about, as it says there the target is a very very rich man. Many years ago we had some conflict with this man but we never get to settle scores for at the time we were just like you now, a low rank. No need to bore you with old issues that happened before you were born. Ever since then, he has gone ten times richer than he was and with greatness, comes enemies which is why someone is paying to get him killed by all means necessary. The target in play has many oil wells here in the south while to the east he has spent a lot of fortune in agriculture which in turn gives him fifty times more of what he invests, he has a company of importing and exporting of goods, he's also into real estate management and it is said he helps a great deal in the development of most cities in the west. I believe the file will tell you a lot more than I can. Please study the file for it could determine if you are to survive.

As he spoke I can't help but notice the pity in his voice, like he was trying to say farewell even if he tried his utmost best to hide it. That was one of my many gifts, detecting lies and reading signs of danger. Over the years I have come to be overprotective and observant noticing anything and everything around me. I scan for dangers and possible escaped roots if anything could go wrong, I even counted how many guards walked past me as I entered and how many are outside, I even notice his handshake when he handed me the file, the look in his eyes and the file in his hand, both files look alike but not quite the same, couldn't help myself but ask out loud, why me?

The atmosphere in the hall became cold in an instant but I was the type that fears nothing and speaks my mind if something does not go well with me. There was hesitation in his voice, well; according to the file in your hands, you are going to pose as someone highly educated and rich, well spoken, and must have traveled to some major countries and I believe that has always been your specialty. You are good-looking and you present yourself quite humble but not to the extent for someone to overrun you, you blend in easily and I very much believe you will engage in small talks before the target is on sight. Believe me, nobody is well suited for the job than yourself. I like your boldness, you appear to be always calm but you must not forget the part you were not supposed to ask questions. That will be all for now, in two days you will be receiving a proper suit for the occasion, oh I forgot; welcome to the big leagues.
