People like to hear what makes them feel good, special in some cases. When they discover what they've been told was a lie, they become furious, confused. They doubt the answer they've been given so they often ask again expecting to hear something different and when the answer stays the same, they ask another confusing question that only leads them further from what they really want to know.
We acknowledge change is constant, but our subconsciousness doesn't really like change, perhaps that's why we question everything.
The look on his face after I told him what he wanted to know was expected, and I know he can't comprehend what he just heard but I believe he does know something even if he thinks he doesn't.
