Wind blows across my freezing room as my eyes widen. I look at the alarm clock stationed beside me on a counter reading 1:39 in bold blood red numbers. I lay my head on my pillow heavily but something about the aura in the room felt odd. I got up.. walked over to my little kitchen area as the curtains rattled across my window heavily desperately catching my uneasy attention.. I quietly walk towards them.. and slowly.. divide them apart in hopes of catching a bit of natural light somewhere in the darkness of the night sky. To my surprise. The stars filled the sky. Light blasted into my room out of nowhere and it took me a moment of rubbing my eyes to fully adapt them to the beautiful view of a galaxy sky right out of the dorm of my luxury campus. This is the life… I thought to myself. With the sparkles of the stars and the light of a plentiful sky I felt so alive. I rushed across my room in joy as I jumped onto my bed and floated back up and landed again. My hair was a mess but nothing at that point was going to stop me from living my dream. Or so I thought. A moment later I spotted a flash coming from one of the houses below. It was distant but bright. I went off as soon as I saw it. I felt a chill run down my spine when I realized. I was looking out the wrong window… it's was the window of the north. Most people on campus have it sealed shut. But I always left my curtains closed on it because it was less work. Things didn't feel so safe anymore.. I couldn't help but keep my eyes on the window. The sky all so suddenly became meaningless to me. I ignored any light it portrayed and started to think heavily. What if whatever or whoever is down there.. can see me too?… I started to panic but before I could run to close the curtains another flash of light hit the area, but this time it was closer. ALOTTT CLOSER. To the point where it became really uncomfortable. I watched in horror as something began to move from the bushes bellow and came running at full speed towards my direction. I almost screamed until I remembered my position being the fourth floor. Every other window besides the second story was boarded in correspondence to the north.. the figure became clearer as it ran closer. A dark outline of a humanoid figure was visible for a second as it disappeared into the building through the doors below. I was terrified. I began to think logically. They wouldn't come for me, why would they come for me? I have nothing to offer?? I'm just another kid! I was loosing my marbles… sweating heavily I looked across my room.. A telephone stood in place by the counter new the kitchen side and I was tempted to call. I rushed to approach it but then a BANG was audible in the floors below. I stopped dead silent in my track wide eyed. I rushed to the phone but with every movement I made a sound came closer. It sounded like it was right OUTSIDE MY DOOR AND I SCREAMED. but everything stopped… I dropped to the floor against the wall and held my hands across my head and I whimpered… what felt like a few seconds became long minutes.. of me just listening in fear of another noise but nothing came… what if I was… hallucinating… what if there was so noise at all and it's just all in my head. I started doubting myself the more I started at the telephone stationed at the edge of my counter, waiting to be picked up for dial. A thought came to my mind of me calling emergency services for a reason that was completely made up in my mind and wasting their time making me look like a fool for being scared of the dark. I couldn't take the risk of humiliating myself in the first days of school. I'd be a huge joke to the school and everyone would make fun of me. I couldn't bring myself to do it and forced myself to accept the realization that everything that just happened was my anxiety levels getting to me…

I glanced at my alarm clock and it read 3:57 in a brutal red. How long have I been here… I'm loosing my mind… I stood up from the floor feeling ridiculous and approached my bed. But in the corner of my eye. A dark figure was visible. Sneaking up across the side of the school gate and dashing onto the bushes ahead. I made a horrible mistake of turning my head to the direction of the creature as I saw its unnatural body towards me. A glow of green shined across the moving shadow that broke the darkness with a lightning motion. I felt all the air come out of my body and collapsed onto the edge of my bed almost stumbling head first onto the floor. I was tired, exhausted, scared out of my mind. Once I wake up… it should all be ok… the school bell will ring. And everything will be just fine.
