Chereads / A Contract with Vampire / Chapter 2 - Confrontation

Chapter 2 - Confrontation

Ayana was walking toward her room with Mira, the head maid, followed her from behind, carrying her bag. Ayana gave up after realizing that she and Mira would stand there for a long time if she did not give her bag to Mira. The woman is quite persistent.

Ayana pulled out the key from her pocket when she saw Bryana step out from the room beside hers.

Bryana and Ayana are an identical twin. Ayana was born five minutes after Bryana. Although the features on their face was completely the same, it was easy to tell one from another since the color of their hair and eyes were a total contrast, making them emitted completely different vibe.

"Sister," Ayana greeted her sister warmly when she looked at the girl, but Bryana replied to her greeting with an annoyed scowl.

"Let's talk," Bryana said curtly as she signaled Ayana to follow her inside her room.

Mira seemed surprised as she looked at the two of them with worry. She knew the conflict in the house. Everyone knew about Bryana, who lately appeared gloomy because she had to step up in political marriage and not her sister.

"Miss Ayana was just arrive and seemed a bit tired, miss. If I might suggest, it would be better to talk over a tea and some snacks after Miss Ayana refreshed herself." Mira took the initiative to talk to Bryana.

Mira cringed when she heard her own weird reasoning. She said that spontaneously when instinct told her that something would definitely happen if she just let the girls talk. Bryana did not seem like she would have a peaceful talk with her younger sister.

"Did you just order me around? She does not look that tired. I only wanted to talk to her for a second. She would not die of exhaustion just to hear me out for a bit," Bryana's voice started to rise, showing her distress.

Mira just nodded her head. Lately, Bryana was so moody that she would get angry at anything. Everyone understand that this situation was so stressful to Bryana that they did not mind when she vent her anger to them.

Ayana noticed that something was odd. Bryana was also looking at her with a frown and anger. This situation was a bit strange because she was not in the house for these past two weeks therefore, she did not know the reason of Bryana irritation. It was weird to see how Mira tried to calm Bryana.

Ayana smiled at the odd situation. Not even in her wildest imagination she could picture her sister, who has perfect model body, became a threat to her. She was sure that compared to her, who trained her body occasionally. Her sister could not hurt her.

"If you only want to talk for a second, you can say it here, sister," Ayana said, looking at Bryana calmly. She caught a glitter of hatred in Bryana's eyes when she rejected her offer in front of Mira.

"I don't want to create commotion and disturb others by talking here. If you don't want to talk inside my room, did you want us to talk in your room?" Bryana said as she closed the door of her bedroom and approached Ayana.

"Didn't you say you only want to talk to me only for a second? Can our quick talk disturb others, sister?" Ayana asked Bryana still with a smile on her lips. Bryana gritted her teeth at Ayana's calm voice. She hated it that her sister was so calm and happy after shoving her into this disastrous situation.

Bryana felt her blood boiled at her sister calm and peaceful face. The piled-up stress this past two days just made Bryana tired and moody. She swung her hand to slap Ayana's cheek, wanting to erase the innocent smile that burned her inside. She hated looking at how happy her sister was when she was miserable because of her.

Ayana was quick to dodge and make Bryana stagger a little. Her eyes turned cold, knowing that her sister tried to slap her hard.

"You know we can talk peacefully, right?" Ayana said as she looked at her sister. Her voice was cold.

"You bitch," Bryana cursed in annoyance, "This damned situation happened because of you!"

Ayana frowned. She knew that something was happening, but she also realized that her sister wasn't in the mood to talk nicely to her right now.

"You need to calm yourself first, sister," Ayana tried to calm her sister.

"Don't tell me to calm down," Bryana screamed.

"What do you want then?" Ayana's tired voice was heard.

"I want to talk to you right now!" Bryana demanded.

Ayana sighed, "Okay. You can talk now. One minute." After saying that, Ayana started to looked down on her watch, ignoring Bryana's curse.

Bryana looked at her sister with venom in her eyes, but Ayana seemed not to care about that. All her focus was on her watch right now.

Bryana's anger flared even more at the sight of Ayana, who stood in front of her calmly.

"You! I hate you! I hope you die with our pathetic father back then; I hope you die and stop worrying mother with your miserable life, you snatched away everything from me and now you want to snatch my family and my dream, you wish!" Bryana vented all the anger that was stored in her heart.

Ayana nodded her head calmly as she did not just hear about her sister cursing. She raised her head when Bryana stop and raised her head with confusion, "Why did you stop?"

"Go on, you still have 38 second," she looked down at her watch.

Bryana was dumfounded for a second before she was angered at Ayana's calm demeanour. She felt like Ayana did not hear what she said at all. She wanted to move forward and rip away those expressions from Ayana's face.

"You! You must have begged mother to destroy my happiness because you are jealous of me, right? You should be the one to suffer in this kind of fate, but mother tried to protect you and shove me to the cliff. Are you satisfied? You are jealous because I am just one step behind my dream! I have everything you wanted, right? My loving family, my successful career, and my happy life. You are here just to destroy my life, right? Tell me I am right since that's what it looks like to me!" Bryana's breath was ragged as she looked at Ayana with hatred.

Bryana opened her mouth, still wanting to vent all her anger out, but stop when Ayana raised her hand.

"Okay, times up! Your one minute is over," Ayana said coldly as she tapped her watch then opened the door of her room.

Mira was stunned at Ayana's calm and almost cold behavior. She has never seen Ayana treat others this way before. Since Ayana came to the house, although she was quiet and only uttered some words at a time, her words were warm and considerate. She would smile and nod, but she never treated anyone like today.

Bryana was speechless at what happened. Ayana was so calm and it made her feel like all her words of frustration was hitting a solid wall. There was no emotion that Bryana wanted to see in her sister face. She wanted Ayana to regret or at least sad after listened to what she said.

"Did you need anything, miss?" Mira got back her mind when Ayana took the bag from her.

"I will call you when I need something, thank you, Mira," Ayana said in a friendly tone, dismissing the head maid.

The woman breathed a sigh of relief as she heard Ayana's normal tone. It seems like she only acted cold toward her younger sister since Bryana said those rude words to her.

The head maid bowed a little to Ayana and Bryana before slowly walked away. She was hoping that Ayana could quickly get inside the room and avoid any kind of confrontation. Initially, she wanted to wait until Ayana got inside her room, but the girl's eyes were firm when she dismissed her. She had no choice but to walk away.

Bryana sighed when she saw Mira's retreating figure. Now that Mira was gone, she wanted to talk to Ayana a bit more. Unfortunately, to her surprise, Ayana had stepped inside her room and did not appear like she wanted to invite her inside.

"See you later, sister," Ayana's cold voice was heard before she closed the door.

Bryana was stunned for a second before she realized what happened and started to bang the door.

"Ayana! Open the door! I haven't finished talking, yet!" Bryana screamed for a while before she realized that her effort was futile. Her scream also gathered some attention as the maid started to peek at her from the corner.

In the end, she cursed and went back to her room after realizing that Ayana would not open the door.

Her phone lights up just right when she walked inside, her grandfather send her a message.

for informing you so late, my dear. Everything was settled. Your sister, Ayana, will be the bride. The Senate refuses your mother's proposal to let you marry in your sister's place.'

Bryana was happy as her eyes moved to read the message on her phone several times. A victorious smile appeared in the corner of her lips.

Finally, everything will be over. Mother definitely can't do anything if the senates have make their decision. Ayana squealed in happiness. she felt a bit guilty for shouting at her little sister  earlier, but she was panicked and afraid that she would be the one who suffered her sister's fate.

Bryana resolved her determination. She won't back down to her sister. After yielding all this time, she decided to make a move before everything she loves was gone.

Bryana then decided to take a bath and prepare for dinner after calming her excitement.

**

The atmosphere was tense since Haruka's mood had not improved. Raphael and Roney looked at Richard, who only shook his head, signaling his two boys to not say anything about the marriage. Bryana was also sitting there, but she appeared to ignore the tense atmosphere and looked happier.

"Why is she so late? Did she forget that our dinner starts at seven sharp?" Bryana complained as she looked at her watch. Raphael, Roney, and Richard hold their breath as they feel Haruka's worsened mood.

But before one of them could reprimand Bryana, Ayana walked inside the dining room.

"Good afternoon, everyone. I am sorry for making you wait. I overslept," Ayana said as she took a seat beside Bryana.

Bryana could see that Ayana ignored her completely and treated her like air even though they sat side by side. She did not looked at her, which was a normal reaction after what happened.

"It's okay, dear. You don't have to feel sorry since you are not late at all," Haruka answered as she smiled at her daughter. The three men at the table can only sigh in relief after they see Haruka's smile.

Bryana frowned as she heard her mother's soothing and gentle voice. Her mother always treated Ayana differently.

What about me? Am I not your biological daughter?

Bryana's good mood worsened a little, but no one seemed like they wanted to ask her since they knew it had something to do with Ayana.

Bryana was silent throughout the diner since everyone in the dinner table appeared curious about Ayana's dormitory life.

Ayana answered the question briefly and calmly, though Bryana felt that something was missing. All the attention used to be hers.
