Chapter 72 - Epilogue

68

Gojo called Itadori and eventually found out what happened between them and Sachiko and how she ended up freeing him all by herself. The group joined him and Shoko and watched Sachiko so he occasionally went out to deal with curses and find the other Sachiko because he knew she could save Sachiko if she wanted to. Unfortunately, he didn't find any traces of her so he moved his focus to dealing with the rotten higher ups.

Before Shibuya incident, he truly thought peacefully bringing up next generation was enough, but now, he realized that those rotten higher ups were better dead than alive. Not only they escaled things in Shibuya, they were also working with other Sachiko so he obviously couldn't overlook it anymore. And the sight of Sachiko being all unconscious like that broke a final straw.

So, Gojo had decided to annihilate the higher ups. If they all survived this ordeal, they would just have to reform the Jujutsu society from scratch and that probably would work even better.

Gojo spent the next several months mostly beside Sachiko and occasionally helping his students with the curses. Until Sachiko woke up again.

-------------

When Sachiko woke up, she saw Satoru again.

"Satoru..?"

"God, sugar, you're back.." Gojo pulled her into a hug tightly. "Thought you'd never wake up again..."

"I'm sorry..Satoru..I thought.."

"No, I'm sorry. I should've protected you.." Gojo said, "I know you wouldn't have been like that if it weren't for me..You only went to Shibuya because of me."

"Yeah, but.." Sachiko replied, "I..I could've done better."

"No, you did your best." Gojo released her from the hug, but he looked her in the eyes, "You did more than enough, sugar."

"Satoru..." Sachiko felt her eyes were filled with tears again and she couldn't help but melt into Gojo's embrace again. "Thought I'd never see you again...I was so scared.."

"I know...me too.." Gojo said, "But hey, at least, we're back together now.."

"Mn..we are.." Sachiko replied. "Just.."

"Just?"

"I mean the other me kinda said you'd leave me and stuff so I was.."

Gojo pulled her into another hug, "Don't listen to her. I mean I'm here hugging you and telling you I'd never do that. Would you still believe her?"

Sachiko finally smiled, "No..I..I believe you, Satoru."

"That's what I thought." Gojo said, smiling as well, "I missed you, sugar."

"Me too, Satoru. I missed you a lot." Sachiko replied.

The two soon melt into each other's brace and found comfort in the escalated intimacy.

--------------

For the next year, Sachiko focused on resting and slowly training her cursed techniques again and Gojo helped his students with the curses that roam Tokyo. Yuta took on the task of travelling to other cities to deal with curses there and Nanami helped wherever he could.

The final battle would be with the other alter Sachiko and Gojo and Sachiko would confront her while the rest of the group would deal with her curses and her other allies.

"Let's go.." Gojo said as he held Sachiko's hand. They had finally found where the other Sachiko was and decided it was finally time to end things.

"Mn, Satoru." Sachiko nodded.

This time, she would properly end things and prove to that other her that she was wrong all along.

------------------

"Oh, look who's here? I thought I'd never see you up close again after she managed to get her hands on the back gate of the prison realm and free you." The alter *Sachiko said when she faced with Gojo. Now, Gojo and Sachiko had went to her hideout for a confrontation according to the plan.

"Yeah? It's time to pay back for what you've done so far." Sachiko said. "You tried to manipulate me into joining you and making my loved ones puppets.."

"I guess I did." *Sachiko replied a bit detached. "Satoru, tell me...isn't it really you? Like isn't there a piece of you in there?" Her attention was on Gojo instead. "I've tried again and again to find you again..please..there has be you.."

"I don't know what you're doing but I hate to break it to you. I'm not your Satoru." Gojo said.

*Sachiko tried to hold Gojo's hands but met with infinity, he said, "Yeah, no, only Sachiko here can touch me."

"But how...my cursed technique is supposed to.." *Sachiko then turned to Sachiko as realization slowly dawned on her, "Did you do that?"

Sachiko crossed her arms and replied, "You mean neutralizing your cursed techniques? Yep, that's me. After all, I'm you. I can do what you can so should you really be surprised?"

*Sachiko shook her head as her shoulders slumped, "I guess I shouldn't...At least, you got strong enough in the end. Even if it almost killed you.."

Sachiko replied, "You're right. But what matters now is you were wrong. Satoru is here, he didn't leave me and was there for me all this time. So, you were wrong about me needing to go psycho to keep them."

*Sachiko looked up to the sky, "So..this is the end for me. Who's gonna kill me?"

Sachiko looked at Gojo, "Should I?"

Gojo shrugged, "Do you want me to?"

"I don't know, I hate her but..."

Gojo replied, "Hey, it's okay.."

Sachiko nodded, "Right..I.."

*Sachiko smiled at the scene, "You know...seeing you guys together made me remember the good times.. Actually, I might give you guys a heads up."

"A heads up?"

"Yeah, actually, the Kenjaku guy is still alive, just trapped in my domain and so is Sukuna. The one you fought back in Shibuya was weakened by me so I guess good luck after I die because you're gonna have to face them."

"What do you mean?" Sachiko asked.

"You mean Kenjaku guy is the one in Suguru's body? I knew it wasn't Suguru." Gojo muttered.

"Bingo." *Sachiko replied, "Anyways, my death or in other words, me leaving this world will return them to normal so with your normal strength, you have no chance. But now, seeing you can neutralize my cursed technique, I'd say you'll be fine."

"Don't tell me you pulled all this sh*t to.."

*Sachiko finished Sachiko's sentence, "To get you stronger. Yes, that's part of the reason. The other was well, I wasn't entirely lying back then. I was searching for my Satoru's soul. I really thought a part of him was mixed up in your Satoru's soul but.."

"It's not there." Gojo stated.

"Yeah..." *Sachiko nodded, trying to regain her composure, "I tried to convince myself otherwise because I didn't want to face the truth but well...now everything 's over. There's nothing I can do anymore. So...just..put me out of my misery."

"Wait," Sachiko said, "If you wanted me stronger, why would you manipulate me and make me think everyone's going to leave me unless I join you and do some psycho sh*t?"

"I thought that's the only way I can really teach you what I know. And you know, in my world, they all left me. Satoru..mom..everyone. I had nothing or no one left." *Sachiko said, "When I first got to this world and see you two together, I was so envious...I guess that's also why I did all those things. Because I want what you had and was kinda jealous. But at the same time, knew you were me, just a different world, different setting. I guess I didn't truly hate you, hence, all that deal with weakening Sukuna and trapping Kenjaku to thwart his plans. But..once I'm gone, you're gonna have to deal with them yourself."

Sachiko sighed, "I understand now."

Gojo had a sad look on his face, "That's an unfortunate story and all but I'll let Sachiko decide what happens to you. And yeah, thanks for the heads up about Kenjaku and Sukuna."

Sachiko turned to Gojo, "You sure about me deciding?"

"Yeah, you're the one who's been hurt the most. Isn't that totally fair?" Gojo said, "Don't worry, I'm here. I won't let you get hurt."

Sachiko nodded, then turned to *Sachiko, "You know..I used to think I'd kill you if I get the chance but your stories..especially since I could see their authenticity, made me think you started off with well meaning, although it escalated into something else. Like I'm actually speechless.."

"Mercy on a psycho like me isn't a good look on you." *Sachiko said.

"It's not. But that's okay since I don't plan on much of that." Sachiko said with a smile, "Go home, go back to your world and never come back."

*Sachiko's eyes widened, "No...I..I can't..please.."

"You should go back to where you belong to." Sachiko said.

"I don't want to..." *Sachiko shook her head, "Please...there's no one left.."

"No." Sachiko replied, with a sigh, "Satoru didn't leave you...He died protecting you. Remember?"

"What?" *Sachiko shook her head frantically but then it hit.

In her hazy memories, she saw herself holding Satoru's lifeless body, his chest was bleeding but mostly, from his chest to waist was bleeding and his lower body was almost completely cut off. In the distance was a manically laughing Sukuna in Megumi's body. Mahoraga was beside him and *Sachiko realized what had actually happened to Satoru.

Satoru had died fighting Sukuna alone, because Sukuna was out to tear her into pieces and Satoru didn't want her to go near Sukuna.

Satoru never left her because she went crazy. He left her that day to fight Sukuna and didn't want her to risk her life to provide support for him.

She never killed Satoru, but, Satoru died for her, and for the sake of the rest of the world.

And she had been the one to go crazy while leaving his body at that very same spot.

"Satoru...I'm..I'm sorry." *Sachiko fell to the ground as she finally realized. "I..I thought you left me...I thought.."

Sachiko sighed, "I finally realized something was seriously wrong during your recap about things and used my Possibility to check. Turns out Satoru never left you like that in your world either. Although he did leave you in a way.."

*Sachiko said, "I should go home.."

Sachiko patted *Sachiko's shoulder, "Yeah, you should."

Gojo nodded as *Sachiko took a last glance at him.

Soon, they saw *Sachiko disappeared into a portal.

Only then, Gojo pulled Sachiko into a hug.

"I've never been so relieved before, sugar.."

"Me too, Satoru. Me too.."

-----------------

Dealing with Kenjaku and the actual Sukuna wasn't that challenging because Sachiko was now much stronger, on par with the other Sachiko and was actually there to neutralize what was dangerous for Satoru and became his support. Thus, once Sukuna was completely destroyed, Satoru only had a few bruises and injuries he could heal himself with his reverse cursed technique.

Celebratory dinners were boring and all but this time, the two enjoyed it all the fullest and especially appreciated getting out of this whole thing alive.

"So, I've been wondering..." Gojo started, holding a cola can, "The other me dying to protect that other Sachiko...did you know that by seeing her possibility? I thought you can only see possibilities..not the past."

Sachiko looked up to the sky and replied, "I can't see the past. It was one of our possibilities. I just crosschecked to see if that was applicable to her."

Gojo paused, "You mean.."

"Yeah, you could've died. I could've died. We could've split up. That's the whole point of having millions..no..countless possibilities." Sachiko replied, "Now, doesn't that make you appreciate what you have now?"

Gojo grinned, as he cupped her face, "Actually, yeah I do."

Sachiko smiled, "And how're you going to prove that?"

Gojo pulled her closer by her waist and he went in to kiss her lips.

"What do you say about sneaking into our room?" He asked after their long passionate kiss.

"You spoke my mind." Sachiko said with a blush. And soon, she found herself being carried by Gojo to the room they shared during their stay with Shoko.

------------

Meanwhile,

*Sachiko stood in front of Satoru's grave in the rain and muttered, "I'm sorry, Satoru. I'm sorry for forgetting..I'm sorry for thinking you left me. I don't know why I tried to hypnotize myself into that...I'm sorry.."

Satoru was never coming back to her but at the same time, Satoru never left her in the way she thought. It hurt so much yet at the same time, it was oddly comforting.

Satoru didn't leave her.

She was the one to go completely mad after Satoru's death and was the one to destroy the world after taking revenge on Sukuna and Kenjaku. She went as far as to exchanging her sanity for the power up and to travel to another world.

"I'm sorry for everything..." She muttered as she held up her cursed energy katana up her neck. There was nothing or no one she could apologize to. There was no way to make up for her sins.

Blood mixed with the rain water as it fell onto the grave stone. *Sachiko laid there in front of the grave as she breathed in her last breath.

"I'm coming home, Satoru."

At least, she hoped she could go to where Satoru's soul might've gone, if afterlife existed.

--------------

Five years later,

"What're you thinking, sugar?" Gojo whispered into Sachiko's ear, while his arms wrapping around her body.

Sachiko smiled and shook her head lightly, "I guess just reminiscing and wondering what happened to her."

Gojo's face got a bit more serious at that, "Do you want to know what happened to her?"

Sachiko shook her head, "No, actually, it's better like this." She said, looking at Gojo. "I'd rather focus on present."

Gojo laughed, "That's right, focus on me."

"..." Sachiko couldn't help but blush a little at his words.

Gojo laughed before pulling her into a kiss. "I'm happy right now. With you and the little ones."

Sachiko smiled as she looked at the two little white head toddlers chasing each other in the backyard.

She and Satoru had gotten married about a year and a half after the battle with Sukuna and Kenjaku and had identical twin boys a year after getting married. Now, the twins were about two and a half years old and she and Satoru were starting to talk about having another little one.

Jujutsu society was reformed and Satoru and her were part of the new higher ups with principal Yaga and Nanami. Satoru still took on teaching the newer sorcerers time to time but Megumi and Itadori really took on mentoring roles while Yuta mostly took care of overseas missions and businesses now that Satoru had started a family with her and didn't want to spend majority of his time travelling. Maki had put Zenin clan in place and had been rebuilding her relationahip with her sister, Mai. Inumaki took on most missions in Tokyo with Panda and Junpei, Kugisaki had started part-time modelling career along with her Jujutsu sorcerer career.

All in all, the current Jujutsu society was more hopeful than it ever was, thanks to their efforts to rebuild it from scratch.

Things had been a mess before, but right now, for Satoru and her, they had each other and their own little family and friends.

------------

The End.

[A/N: It's finished. I hope the final twist made sense with less of the details and recap. It was supposed to be like an arc but if I do it that way, I'll probably never get to finish it so yeah, at least, this is a closure to this book. Ending is well, it's the same as I had always thought, since I start writing. *Sachiko would never live normally without any of her loved ones so her going back to her world and dying there in a desperate attempt to see them again in afterlife if existed was the best ending I could think of for her. At least, our MC, Sachiko, and Satoru gets to get married and have twins, and maybe a couple little ones more down the line. Mai is alive and Maki doesn't lose her sister. Tsumiki is alive, Megumi isn't that traumatized. Yuuji is fine, Nobara is starting her model career in addition to being a sorcerer so good for her. Kokichi is alive so you can imagine an ending for him. I'd say he meets Miwa eventually again. Nanami is thriving, I mean as much as he can anyway. Principal Yaga lives so Panda also still has his father. So yeah, I hope this healed something in you guys.
