The system instantly carried out its function. Her sight broke through the thin layer and entered the sealed space.
Leo saw a massive chamber filled with treasures, gold, diamonds, sealed scrolls, tomes, grimoires, locked chests and various other items.
As she basked in the sight of them, space and time warped around her.
This created a natural, magical and spiritual anomaly that essentially caused her to become a glowing beacon on a dimensional scale.
She was now visible to anyone with the sight to see, no matter where they were.
As such, a familiar person noticed her.
It was King Yama, sitting in a high tower and overlooking the world before him.
"How peculiar. What are you thinking, young one? Do you wish to become enemies with entire universes?"
The King's eyes glowed briefly before he smiled. His smile seemed to cause the entire world around him to brighten.
"Now that is what I call entertainment."
He unfolded his legs and fell on his back, clutching his stomach and laughing until tears ran down the sides of his face.
"Indeed! Such ambition is unmatched in all existence!"
"Can I teleport there?"
"Yes, you can. However, the portal's maker will see your actions. User is advised to increase stealth mastery to at least the fifth level. At that level, Ghost Aspect will be unlocked."
Leo nodded.
"Tell me how to train Stealth. Teach me about Digestion as well, while you're at it."
"In order to train Stealth, user must remain hidden from those actively searching for you. The difficulty increases as mastery improves, but this can be dealt with. For example, an animal has higher senses and can pick up on sounds and smells easier. Hiding from such a presence will overcome the training difficulty."
"As for Digestion, User is required to eat any and all things. Human food is diverse, but still limited. For example, devouring the food of certain creatures that humans would not normally eat. Eating precious foods will allow for user to slowly advance toward unlocking Greater Absorption, but eating tougher food will allow for quick advancement."
Unexpectedly, Leo gagged when she thought about eating certain unorthodox meals.
"Alright, let's go back."
With that, Leo teleported from that underground area of the school.
Upon her return, she noticed a bunch of students steadily flowing into the corridors.
There was only one class during the first year, but it consisted of a variety of components. As such, different spaces and environments needed to be utilized to ensure the children had the best chance to learn.
Today's class was a simple one, a lecture then note-taking.
Leo learned from the teachers that the topics being discussed weren't entirely complex or even hard to understand. For noble children around her age, it was the most suitable subject.
Leo entered one of a few other classrooms. As she expected, the students were already seated while the professor had been setting himself up further down.
Leo kept to herself and sat alone, looking down at the teacher.
This was actually the man that had greeted her. After reading his mind, she understood that he would be continuing a previous lecture on the governing powers and other authoritative figures present in society.
He was also going to be touching on certain laws and the like; Leo couldn't be more bored. She already knew everything the teachers knew, so listening to this was a waste of time.
She stood up, about to walk out of the room.
"Hmph. So you're the broad that turned fifty of the students into mindless freakazoids."
Leo stopped dead in her tracks, a subtle look of shock on her face. A voice was being conveyed through brain waves and speaking in her head.
She tried to maintain her cool and looked around for anyone suspicious. Some students noticed but when they saw it was her they paid no mind. In their eyes she was just a commoner.
"How did you figure it out?" She finally responded.
"Simple really. Abilities leave deeply rooted footprints, especially ones like mind control. I simply used my own abilities to trace it back to you. You lost the moment you let me see you."
Leo frowned and sat back down. She did not know who was talking to her.
"Lost? I wouldn't be so sure of that."
"Oh? Fine then. Keep trying and eventually you'll see. Nothing gets past me. Not the sorcerer's seal, not the fact that you visited the treasury portals and definitely not the fact that you broke a dimensional rule not even five minutes ago."
After that, there was silence in her brain.
Leo took several deep breaths and tried to compose herself.
There was no way for her to tell whose voice it was. She could not even tell if it belonged to a man or a woman.
She never even considered that it could be another child around her age.
That blinded her to the fact that, in a corner of the room, a boy with short, dark green hair looked over at her with bright blue eyes and smiled.
He leaned back into his chair and then closed his eyes, continuing his nonchalance.
Leo gathered her thoughts and stood up again, walking out of the class. Some students thought the teacher would stop her, but he was already under her control.
Leo suddenly had a thought, which she didn't know was an unbelievably lucky occurrence.
She decided to put all the students present under her control.
"One unsuccessful. Mind Control Mastery Skill needed."
A drop of sweat slowly ran down the side of her face.
"What happened?"
"Unlike with the ex-adventurer you met earlier today, this person actively resisted instead of passively. That is how I picked up on it."
Leo gasped.
"Who was it. Who resisted?" Her eyes were already busy scanning the classroom.
"I believe your Superior Sight will make it obvious.
Leo was about to agree when she realized it wasn't the system that had spoken.
"You're in my head."
"Indeed."
Leo took a big gulp then activated her sight.
She saw that all of the students around her had a warm glow around their heads. Even the teacher was the same.
However, there was a dark spot in her vision. As she looked closer, she saw that very boy sitting with his arms folded.
"About time." He chuckled, giving her a small wave. Leo huffed and pointed with her finger, signalling for him to meet her outside.
As such, they both were standing outside the castle near the drawbridge.
"Just who the hell are you?" Rather impatiently, Leo watched as the boy slowly made his way over the bridge.
"Me? Are you interested? Too bad, I'm taken." He slyly smiled then proceeded to ignore the question.
"Hey! I asked you a question."
The boy shook his head and laughed to himself.
"I'm just a kid, jeez. Who are you?"
Leo made a face, clearly annoyed.
"I'm Leo Eslon. Didn't you already know, Mister Omniscient?"
He flashed a smile and nodded.
"Yeah, I did know. But now I know that you know that I know."
"Was the confusion necessary?"
He shook his head and laughed again, "Heh! It really wasn't."
Leo watched as he sat on the grass and laid on his back.
"How are you able to resist my mind control? How do you know so much about me?"
He sighed when he heard that, shaking his head once more.
"Questions, questions. What is it with girls and questions. If I smile at another girl it's always 'do you like her' or 'do you know her' and 'is she your secret mistress?' All that crap."
Leo blankly stared at him.
"I was able to resist your mind control because you're not good enough at it. You haven't even achieved mastery. Even if you did, I doubt you'd be able to control my mind."
"Don't doubt it, Mister."
"Ha! Whatever you say. I still doubt it. Besides, mind controlling me won't do you any good cause you don't have the capacity to even read my mind. Your hold on me would be fragile and last maybe a second at best."
A deep frown was now rooted on her face.
"How do you know about that? Those are my secrets!"
"Tough luck, Princess. I'm not the kind of guy to let someone go around thinking they're something they're not. I like to add that touch of reality to the fantasy."
Leo rolled her eyes and walked closer to him.
"Here's my touch of reality: If you don't answer my questions I'm going to freeze you where you stand and then shatter you into a thousand pieces."
He laughed at that, then sat up.
"Go ahead then."
Leo immediately spent points to use her Ice Magic, releasing a wave of bitingly cold energy headed directly for him. It consumed his entire body before dissipating, freezing the grass around him.
Leo absorbed what cold energy was left, but was shocked while doing so. The boy was still sitting there, unharmed and unbothered.
"Nice try. I noticed something though, your Telekinesis could use some work. You spend too much time on easily resisted abilities. I also see you laid a great foundation for physical prowess. You made a smart choice to wait."
"I find it strange that your cell manipulation has also been neglected. You don't seem to understand enough about your potential."
Leo's frowned deepened, but she still maintained her cool.
"Enlighten me." She spat, but the boy didn't seem to notice or care.
"Well, for starters..." He raised a finger. Atop his finger a small tongue of flame appeared, illuminating the immediate surroundings.
"See this flame. I can make it because of a unique ability that I acquired due to certain circumstances. It's called Sun Aspect Fire. Know why?"
Leo shook her head.
"That's cause, the moment it leaves my finger it becomes a ball of potent energy that is equal to that of the sun. If I were to release such a flame here, this world would probably perish."
Leo once more took a big gulp.
"You see, when you tried to acquire magic before, you failed. That wasn't because of your body, but because of your magic sense. You might not know this, but you have to master magic sense before it's actually usable. The mastery skill is actually the foundation of magic sense, and once you get to that point you'll realize what true magic sense is."
Leo gasped, "Do you have a system too?"
"No. That's why it's such a shame that you don't see your potential. Only one person every dimensional era gets the system, but never has anyone survived long enough to become strong on a dimensional scale. You are even less likely to survive."
"Why's that?"
"Don't you remember? You had the gall to light yourself up and paint a target on your back that all can see. I realized that and immediately came here to find you. Once I did I learned everything about you because I want to help you. I'm tired of seeing those blessed with the system end up dying pathetically."
Leo's scarlet eyes widened. Her youthful face was the picture of amazement.
"Just how old are you?" The boy smiled, but then his expression turned somber and he put a finger to his lips.
"Don't ask any more questions. You have nothing to learn for the rest of this semester. I suggest you work hard before the real tests begin. You may not need actual schooling, but you do need the school. All the information and experience you need is here, and with that you can develop much further."
The boy suddenly turned into a puff of smoke, gone from Leo's vision.
"Don't waste your time." His lingering words rung in Leo's ears, causing her anger to reach a boil.
"Who the hell does he think he is!"
