Chereads / Solitude's Requiem / Chapter 105 - Dire Situation

Chapter 105 - Dire Situation

The body of Secessus gets hit into a tavern that was abandoned because of the fighting. A trail of blood accompanies the disrupted floor which his body was hit against.

"Aah…Aaah" barely audible painful groans accompany his heavy breathing. Consciousness almost faded away.

Looking into a shattered mirror next to him. A quite discouraging sight appears. Crimson-colored blood streams down his face. Pieces of bones sticking out at certain parts. His left eye is severely injured as a piece of wood from the created rubble has stabbed itself in it.

Pulling out the piece of wood, his regenerative powers immediately try to lighten the damage.

The footsteps of the large brute come closer. Not prepared to give up on this fight or his life, Secessus's tries to stand up.

Momentarily feeling no sense of balance and a general dizziness made this task harder than normal.

He manages to stand up and looks towards his attacker. The clear emerald eyes are a sharp contrast to the crimson red blood streaming down his head.

"Still alive? I must admit, thought you bit the dust?" Ulthris says in a tone that seems to somehow mix sincerity with mockery.

"Schweres Herz" is once again carried with 2 hands, making one wonder where that sudden surge of strength came from.

"Congratulations!" Ulthris yells like a drunken oaf celebrating anything he can just to drink. A sarcastic and way too loud clapping moment follows. "Schweres Herz" is put down on the ground, Ulthris is completely defenseless.

Yet Secessus's couldn't do a damn thing. His balance had not returned, and the chance of being able to cast any worthwhile spells in this state is quite slim.

Opting for a more patient approach, Secessus's decides to let this mockery slide. Giving his regenerative powers the chance to actually heal him until a proper state.

"Such an achievement! Incredible! That deserves a prize, doesn't it?" Ulthirs Kaahen says his blatant mockery becoming a low and subtle threat.

Ulthris quickly reaches forward towards Secessus, grabbing a piece of bone that had been sticking out of his skull.

With a tight grip, he begins to twist and turn the bone. Secessus who was about to scream could not as he felt a heavy punch in the gut. Making him lose his breath, his normally loud scream has now turned into a desperate attempt at collecting breath.

"Don't move too much."

"..."

"Because you never know when something snaps." The lava stone orc leader speaks, putting his face right in front of that from Secessus. Putting even more force on the piece of bone he's twisting.

"I've fought more battles than the days you've taken breath, and I must say it has been some time…" The orc says whilst putting his forehead against that of the shade demon. Secessus's blood sticking onto the orc's forehead.

"Since someone has enraged me this much."

"I... I…." The shade demon tries to reply, trying to stabilize his breathing.

Ulthris decides to let Secessus speak. Just the imagination of this insulting pest begging for his life brings him immeasurable joy.

"I genuinely couldn't care less." Secessus replies, his emerald eyes showing a mixture of annoyance and disinterest.

Ulthris imagination of the demon begging in front of him gets quickly shattered. Leaving behind only disappointment and anger.

At that moment, the orcish leader realized something. He didn't simply want to kill his opponent. No, this demon had to broken first. The filthy weakling had the audacity to doubt his courage. He even decided to intervene in his battle with Tharnomath. Splitting their heads with "Schweres Herz" and creating his utopia was delayed because of this brat.

Besides, they seemed to have developed some camaraderie together. Something quite unusual for those golden eyed devils.

'What if I rip off his head and throw it in front of Tharnomath or Ergillaz? Would they scream, tremble, curse me? Or even better, I'ill make him suffer and describe it in detail whilst we battle. I could pluck out his eyes, squeeze his intestines, crush his legs.' Ulthris Kaahen amidst the disappointment and anger caused by his enemy's defiance began to think of a way to satisfy his rage.

Looking down at his opponent, the orc makes direct eye contact with the emerald green eyes of the shade demon. His left hand, that is not grabbing a piece of bone, gently caresses around Secessus'right eye.

"You've got pretty eyes, brat. A common color, but still they seem to have their own spark." the lava stone orc leader says, looking rather decided and unsettling calm.

Eyes are a beautiful thing. It is often said that you have to look at one's scars to know him. Ulthris is a warrior himself and has met many people who were physically scarred. It was only later in his life that he realized that these were not the only scars that one carried.

Ulthris isn't a smart man. But still he fought, and during these fights he began to learn. An individual's scars are not merely carried on its body. They are also hidden in his eyes.

Eyes that have given up, eyes that grief, eyes filled with joy, pride, anger, hatred, happiness…

Eyes of those who've killed and those who are destined to be killed.

The green, emerald eyes in front of him felt different. You have some typical trades: a sense of pride, confidence, hatred yet also carries empathy.

However, there was also this deeper feeling. A feeling that Ulthris never felt before. The eyes look normal, maybe even pretty, but by no means extraordinary.

But what is it? That feeling that you can look into these eyes for eternity. The feeling that everything you've ever done had one goal. To be seen by those eyes.

It's not love, it feels more suppressive and intimidating. Like standing at the bottom of a mountain and staring at its top, or perhaps the same feeling as a pilgrim staring at the horizon.

Ulthris did not know why he felt like this. Suppressing this strange feeling, his large thumb stops in front of Secessus's right eye. Then slowly he starts to apply more force. Trying to crush the eyes that have begun to confuse him.

His rage never left, there was simply something else also present.

Blood begins to stream out of Secessus's right socket. Both his arms are trying to stop Ulthris from crushing his eye.

Having surprisingly regenerated more than taken damage in these last minutes. Secessus's decides to try and escape Ulthris grip. Using blood magic, the blood that had been streaming out of Secessus's head and eye transformed into a black, sticky substance. Which Secessus immediately directed towards Ulthris eyes.

Ulthris who lost too much time thinking and planning vengeance did not expect any more magic. Being swiftly temporarily blinded, he drops Secessus as a reflex.
