Monday arrived faster than Cassandra intended it to. If only it was a choice she would have avoided it all together if not avoided her existence as well.
She was greeted inside the school with Isabella's presence and a faint smile from James as he left the two girls alone. The two of them were extremely glad when they realised that they had history together, none of them were particularly huge fans of history but it was a hell lot easy to bear when you had someone by your side.
"How was your Sunday?" Isabella asked. Apparently against what everyone else thought Isabella thoroughly enjoyed conversations which meant her asking Cassandra's about her Sunday was the only so that she could reveal about hers. considering the fact there was nothing particularly interesting happening in Cassandra's life and the things that actually consumed her last night was something she was not going to let Isabella on to.
"Nothing particularly interesting. I spend my day working at the cafe and then came back and went to sleep" Cassandra concluded.
Isabella looked at her with the smile of a cat which was a clear indication that she was waiting for Cassandra to ask her about her Sunday so that she could gush about all the things she had done and how happy they made her.
"How was yours?" Cassandra asked nonchalantly.
Cassandra wasn't ignoring towards her friend but something about her cheery attitude did not sit well with her. Cassandra totally appreciated the way Isabella could always be happy but it made her feel more gloomy then she already was.
"I had the best sunday of my life it started boring though but then James took me to a surprise date and we had a lot of fun....." And Isabella's description of a perfect Sunday dragged on as Cassandra shifted her head in a two and fro motion clearly indicating that she was paying attention even though she wasn't.
Though Cassandra couldn't help as her eyes rose towards xavier, who was walking towards his locker which was currently occupied by Charlotte standing there. The moment xavier was closer Charlotte wrapped his arms around his waist and hers around his neck pulling him closer for a kiss.
Xavier didn't do much in reply but complied a few seconds before breaking away. Cassandra couldn't help the surge of annoyance that spread through at the duo.
There was something about xavier that was similar to her parents in some way. There was no doubt about the fact that she truly did despise him but there was a part of her that desired him too.
It was so much easier when he was around, There was something particular just about his presence around her that wrapped around her like a cocoon in for a few moments made her forget about anything and everything happening in her life like he was in oblivion of a kind and for a few moments she could be free from everything that was holding her down, from the horrors of her current existence.
As if on the Queue Xavier eyes found hers and he looked at her with a spark in his eyes but no smile on his lips as he gathered his stuff and quietly walked down the hallway gazing at her even when she averted her gaze but when he was finally gone she could see Charlotte glaring at her but little did she care when her entire existence was tingling with pleasure of being the object of his attention.
By then Isabella had ceased her telly tale even though she had barely noticed the lack of Cassandra's attention as the two of them smiled and walked towards history.
History was as it was always. even though the teacher was extremely passionate about the subject there were barely a few students who could keep up with the passion. The teacher though was grateful for all those who could and merely ignored everyone else who couldn't.
After their history class was over, Isabella and Cassandra parted their ways towards their respective classes and decided to meet at the cafeteria for lunch.
The next class Isabella had was mathematics it was something she did not truly despise but did not truly enjoyed either, it was a neutral subject and she was pretty good at it so she finished her class without a problem. Followed by math, she had biology, She was almost anticipating the arrival of someone but he never did and she tried herself to not be distracted by his absence because she had very recently shifted herself towards the good side of Mrs. Frank and did not want to lose that any time soon.
Even though she tried her very best to paying attention in the class she couldn't help her thoughts from drifting towards the absence of certain someone,
Where was he?
was he out there with Charlotte?
the questions kept storming her mind as she walked out of the class towards the cafeteria.
When she finally reached the cafeteria she realised that she was pretty early and Isabella was yet to arrive so she quietly settled down on a table and pulled out her Copy of wuthering heights and started reading it for the hundredth time.
Nobody in this place really liked to treat her like she existed so it was no bothering as she continued to read until she could feel something wet dropping on her head and slimily flowing down her face towards her now ruined book.
The pages were wet and stained in chocolate, The lines that she was loved and adored what are now replaced with a mere color of chocolate brown.
She looked up to find Charlotte staring at her and she wasn't sure what she would end up doing to her if the girl did not move away from her in the next one second.
"Stay away from my man are you will be having worst coming your way" the girl spat before storming away.
*****
"Stay away from my man are you will be having worst coming your way" the girl spat before storming away.
Cassandra Grabbed her leftover dignity with her ruined book and started her journey outside the cafeteria even though she could still hear the chaos of laughter in the cafeteria. She walked inside the girls washroom only to find herself drowned in the brown liquid head to shirt.
She quickly grabbed a piece of tissue paper and started trying to scrap the pages free from the chocolate. This was not just the book she loved and adored as a child but this was the book her mother ever read to her, this edition was a gift from her mother and had been passed down.
Her mother had read the piece of art created by Emily Brontë from this very edition and when Cassandra was old enough to understand something more then fairytales and fantasies her mother had dropped the book right into her lap to read it and the two of them were engaged into multiple conversation about the brilliant work and the characters. There were times when she would lie in her mother's lap as her mother read the book to her reading her favorite paragraphs all the parts that the two of them absolutely loved as she caressed her hair.
This thing was merely more than a book and when Cassandra saw how she could not take the brown out of the pages, her fury had no bound. She did not even bother trying to clean up her face or the liquid flowing down from her now with hair towards her forehead as she stormed outside the washroom, back towards the cafeteria.
The first thing that greeted her when she entered the cafeteria was the worried expression on Isabella's face like she had finally realised what had happened to Cassandra in her absence and was about to come to her but before Isabella could even make a few steps closer to Cassandra, she moved away.
She was not angry at Isabella just way to consumed in her fury to care about anything else.
She could see Charlotte and her minions still laughing at her including the entire cafeteria. Xavier was still sitting at the far end of the corner paying no attention to either of them but only he knew how much self-control it took him do not rush by her side.
"Seems like someone doesn't know how to clean up aswell" Charlotte mocked.
Cassandra's fury had no bounds as she picked up a strawberry milkshake from a random table and rushed towards Charlotte before throwing the thing right at her face. The cafeteria was yet engulfed into fits of laughter as the pinkish liquid flew from her face and wetting her blue shirt.
Only then Cassandra realised how grateful she was for the fact that she had gym today and therefore decided to wear a black T-shirt with a black trouser which was their significant uniform because if Charlotte had dropped the brown liquid on a regular uniform then it would take ages for the stain to go and the chances were that it would still not leave and she clearly couldn't afford another pair of uniform.
"You bitch" Charlotte hissed ready to slap her across the face when Cassandra gripped her hand and moved it behind her back in such an aggressive force that everybody could hear a crack of muscle and Charlotte growled out in pain.
"Listen to me and listen clear! I have had enough of shit from you Bratty kids but do not forget that I have seen all these parts of school as well, and the next time you try to mess with me I am just a scholarship student which means it's fine by me if I study here or at the local school. but I will do that after I break your teeth and you will walk around like ugly duckling your entire life. so make sure that you keep your hands of me and my stuff if you don't want to look more hideous than you already are without that make up on" Cassandra spat before rushing out.
Only when Cassandra walked out she allowed herself to fall down in grief and cry her heart out. Isabella rushed by her side cleaning her hair and face in the process but the girl barely knew that it was not her appearance but her heart that was breaking. The book that was ruined was a memory of her dead mother and a part of her existence would be spoiled by Charlotte's selfish and cruel intentions.
It was a grief of the sort that brought all other grief together and Cassandra cried for another hour without paying any attention to anything as she packed her stuff up and got ready to leave for home. Unfortunately for her there had been some issue with the local bus and therefore she had to walk her way back home.
But Cassandra wasn't complaining and it was ironic how she didn't. Apparently every single thing happening in her life was worth complaining but the problem was who would she complain to there was probably no one she could let on in her misery as she walked on the sidewalk of the road alone unaware of the eyes that stayed at her with cruel intentions.
She would not even know what would have happened to her on that lonely road if the honking on her back wouldn't have seized the pair of eyes and herself.
She turned around to see a black Bugatti Veyron honking incessantly at her back. Only when the windows rolled down she realised it was the guy who had caused today's incident.
Cassandra got down the road like she was occupying the entire road and he couldn't drive with her standing on it. A part of her even expected him to offer her a ride after what she had gone through today. But the guy simply drove at a pace slower than her to walk and kept driving beside her.
Cassandra was already too annoyed and tired of everything to pay any heed to his tactics as she walked her way towards the home and only when she reached her place did Xavier drive off.
Even if he was no more than a dumb brute to her only his cautious pair of eyes had seen somebody peeking through shadows at her and this was probably his way of making sure that she was safe and sound.
