Chapter 4 - It's just a name, right?

"Hmm, let's see… hmm, it's probably the 150th one," Shun said while removing the hairband from his head. Then he rubbed his hair and shook his head to remove sweat drops.

"Hmm? Wasn't it one hundred sixty the other day?" The man asked.

"Was it? Since I've already finished the work here, it's not a big deal."

Upon answering, Shun left the street and ran back to the castle.

-LINE BREAK-

"So, do you still think that you can take care of Shun-sama?" Alfred smiled slightly at the girl as he looked at her.

The girl gulped and said, "Y-Y-You'll never know unless you try."

"Whether you get a green sign or a rejection, that is also up to the young Lord. Do you think you're ready for that?"

"Y-Y-Yes, sir!" She shouted loudly.

"Then let's get back to the castle. We will find him with the lord and lady."

Alfred said, and both of them walked back to the castle from the streets.

"(*slurp) these noodles really sit well with the soup. Great job, ma." Julius said while enjoying the sunrise with some early breakfast.

"Oh, I am thrilled to hear that. So, should I change my profession from a doctor to a chef then?" She said.

"Hmm? Why? Your proficiency in both of them is quite impressive."

"Yeah, but I don't get paid for this one, you see."

"What are you talking about, ma? We are a family and you can do this much for your family, right?"

"Julius, it's not nice to tease ma." Sylvie said, entering Julius' balcony.

There was a touch about her, of the jay, blue-green, light and vivacious eyes with long and silky hair, like the orb weaver's thread. Fair skin, with a delicate tone on the skin, and a beautiful face befitting her body features. She had put on a white silk dress, stiff with embroidery, strewn with pearls, encrusted with gemstones, like getting ready for some occasion.

"Now, now, don't you look gorgeous?" Julius said.

"You are looking beautiful, my lady. Your gestures perfectly reflect in young Lord's personality." The doctor said.

"The profound qualities are all inherited from me, though." Julius said.

"And I wondered what was amiss with him." Sylvie said.

"Ugh, taunting is in your blood, isn't it?" Julius said, looking at the doctor.

"It's the reality. It depends on you to face it or neglect it, My Lord." The doctor said as she started laughing with Sylvie.

"It's my loss. Anyway, where did Asmodeus run off to? I didn't see him in the morning." Julius asked.

"Whenever we're at home, call him Shun." Sylvie said in an angry tone.

"Alright, Alright, but it's not like I said something wrong."

"You don't seem to remember what we decided in the early years." Sylvie said.

The fake forgetful Julius scratched his head and said, "It's already been ten years since then. You think I would remember something trivial like that?"

"Don't pretend. You were the one who said not to take the matter lightly. Here's a reminder of some aftermaths." Sylvie said as she started talking about the past incident.

-FLASHBACK-

"His name will be Asmodeus Beischel." Julius said this as he held the child.

Both Sylvie and Doctor made an expression befitting the word 'ugh' as they looked at Julius hopelessly.

"What's with that look? You don't like it?"

"You want me to agree with your atrocious naming sense?" Sylvie said.

"What's atrocious in it? It's his original name afterall."

"Only if we go according to your assumption. But we decided to live normally, so a normal name would suffice. A devil's name is too much for my child."

"Nonsense. What I told you is a funky combination of our ancestoral name and his real name. I am simply retaining our kid's originality."

"So persistent. Okay then, keep the name you find befitting, I will choose one for him."

"Huh? That's a pain in the butt. Why don't you go with my suggestion?"

"No, that's gibberish. Do you think his friends will be able to call him with such a difficult name?'"

"You are insulting all the people with unique names in this world. It's unforgivable."

"They are getting too excited. Well, they haven't looked this good in a while so it's fair to get carried away a little." The doctor said.

"YOU SUGGEST SOMETHING, MA!" Both of them looked at the doctor with desperate eyes.

"Alright, Alright, I have a method." Answering, the doctor pulled out a coin from her pocket.

"A copper galet?" Julius asked.

"Yeah, let's toss and decide." The doctor said.

"Oh, it's a nice idea. But use something befitting our child." Sylvie said.

"Let's go with the silver galet then." The doctor said and pulled out another coin from her pocket.

"No, no, it's not enough. Here take this one." Julius said as he searched his clothes and found a coin somewhere underneath.

"Ew!! What were you thinking when you kept this, gold galet, somewhere in your body?" Sylvie said.

"What? I found this one coincidentally near the tree outside today. I don't have any pocket so I kept it inside."

"You could have told someone to get it for you instead of doing something weird like that. Anyways, Ma! Use this coin." Sylvie said as she pulled out a coin from her drawer.

"A platinum galet!! Where did you get this from?" Julius asked.

"It's not like we are poor or something. I took it some of them from your office cupboard."

"Huh? So it was you. And I thought it was some cat or squirrel."

"Wait a minute. You are making it seem like I was stealing it from you."

"It's the reality. I am not making up anything."

"I knew it. You are a piece of garbage."

"And I am your husband. Serves you right."

"Stop it both of you. Let's not waste anymore time." The doctor said.

Both of them calmed down and looked at the platinum galet. It was a small but thick coin. On one side, it had a picture of royal crest and on the other side is a picture of an eye with two circles inside the eyeballs, just like an eagle. It was decorated with many embellishments.

"Okay then, the one who wins will get to choose his main name and the one who loses will get to choose his nickname. Sounds good?"

"Hmm, it's fair, I guess." Julius said.

They all agreed and the doctor tossed the coin in the air.

"Tails!" Sylvie shouted.

The coin strike the ground and started vibrating to and fro to the surface. After a series of juddering, the coin stopped moving and the result was in favour of Julius.

"Yeah, I won. I told you, even the luck is with me."

"It's decided then. The kid's name will be as my Lord said."

"It's your turn now, my lady."

"Alright. I had thought of this name long ago. How does Shun sound? It has that wholesome kind of feeling in it."

"Well, it's not bad for a nickname." Julius said.

"Let's close this topic now. The kid's nickname will be Shun."
