Chapter 8 - Another Day Down

Deacon's POV

After the day out shopping with Mia she slept the rest of the day and night. I honestly was shocked that she lasted the whole time that we were out, but since she had enjoyed it so much I couldn't really complain. To my surprise Mia didn't fight too much with me when I told her that I wanted to buy her another vehicle.

It took me a little bit to convince her that it wasn't because I didn't like her car, but that I thought that a newer SUV with safety more up to date safety features would make her feel better at the end of the and that having a vehicle with four doors would make it easier for her when she was traveling with the babies since she wouldn't have to try to fasten their seats from outside the car.

Eventually she did agree that it probably would be better, but she insisted that I swear to her that I wouldn't do anything with her car if she agreed to let me get here this SUV. Of course I wouldn't have ever thought about doing anything with her car, she had been so proud of being able to get it by herself.

The next morning when I woke up to find that Mia wasn't in bed with me, at first it startled the fucking hell out of me because normally I was the one who was up and out first. Shooting out of bed I looked all around the room as well as the bathroom, before I heard music coming from the twins' nursery next door.

Quietly opening the door and seeing that Mia was in the room carefully folding the clothes that we had bought yesterday and putting them in drawers. She had already made sure that all the diapers were put away neatly in each of the changing tables, as well as the wipes and the two wipe warmers. I almost started to laugh as I noticed that she had neatly folded the bags up and stacked them as she emptied them. Even the huge stuffed teddy bears and been neatly put in place.

"Deacon, are you just going to stand there and watch me or would you like to help?" She asked never turning around to actually look at me.

"What do you need help with, because you seem to have everything under control from what I can see."

"Remember the toy boxes that we asked to have delivered this morning?"

"Yeah."

"They were delivered about an hour ago and since I can't move them myself they need put beside each of the cribs. Would you mind?"

"Absolutely not." I laughed.

After getting the toy boxes exactly where Mia wanted them, I took notice to the fact that she had managed to get letters hung up on the walls as well. Everything looked so amazing, that I couldn't believe that this was the same room that I had started a month ago.

"Mia, do you think that we should paint the walls?" I asked looking around.

"Actually I think that the silvery color is amazing and matches everything perfectly." She beamed. "Do you think that they'll like it?"

"I think that once they get old enough to appreciate the room that they have they'll love it." I laughed.

"Ouch!!" Mia said loudly, holding her stomach as she turned towards me smiling.

"Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, come here." She urged, grabbing my hand placing it onto her stomach.

It only took a moment for me to realize what had happened, as I felt a tiny little movement against my hand.

"Their kicking." Mia chirped happily. She looked down tenderly at her stomach. "I hope you both like your room, because Daddy and I put a lot of work into it."

Mia's POV

Because of waking up early I was already exhausted and it wasn't even noon yet. We had just finished putting everything away that we had bought yesterday and from what I could tell we had done well on getting everything that we would need.

"I have one more thing that needs to be brought, the only thing is this isn't exactly for Teo and Lessie, it's more for you."

"For me?" I asked looking at him in confusion.

He walked out of the room returning with a beautiful antique looking rocking chair. "Oh my god Deacon it's beautiful, where did you get that?"

"Actually I didn't have to buy it." He said setting it down gently between the two cribs. "This is the same chair that our mother used when both Alex and I were babies. I thought that it would mean a lot to you to have something like that."

Looking at the beautiful chair, tears started to fall in happiness at the thought of using something that meant so much to his family. "Thank you for trusting me with something like this."

"Babe, why don't you go lay down for awhile you look exhausted."

"I am, but I still wanted to get the car seats put into the cars today, at least the ones that will be in my car."

"How about if I go down and put them in for you while you go rest. You've been on you're feet since before I woke up today and I don't want you overdoing it."

"Okay." I agreed sleepily as I wondered into our room and laid down on the bed. Honestly I don't even remember my head hitting the pillow before I was asleep.

Deacon's POV

As I promised I installed both seats into Mia's new SUV. I knew that she probably wouldn't touch the vehicle until the twins' were born, but I knew that she wouldn't rest until everything was the way that she wanted it to be.

As I walked back into the house from the garage I ran into Alex and Axel who were heading out to the garage themselves.

"What were you doing out there?" Alex asked.

"Mia wanted to make sure that the car seats that we bought were at least in her car before she laid down, so I made her a deal that I would put them in if she would go get off her feet for awhile."

"Oh, we were just looking for you in your office. There are a couple things that we need to talk to you about." Axel said quietly.

"Okay, lets head up there now."

"What's going on?" I asked looking at them.

Holding out a thick red folder Axel looked at me. "Why are you handing me that file?"

"Because there's some talk in the underground that he's possibly on the move."

"On the move?" I asked angrily. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"He's been making what most would see as idle threats, but...seeing as who it is, we know that you wouldn't want to take anything that is supposedly being said to be taken lightly. And after looking through what we've been given and what we've found ourselves Alex and I both agree that it may be a good idea to look into upping the security not only here at the house, but also when you and Mia leave the house whether you're together or not." Axel said cautiously.

"I've already talked to Cassie. We've decided that if and when we travel that he and I will travel separately, I think that it may be a good idea if you and Mia do the same."

"Absolutely not." I snapped. "She's pregnant and there's no way in hell that I'm letting her travel without me whether she has 50 guards or only one. There's not even a question about that."

"I can understand that." Axel agreed. "Have you taught her how to shoot by any chance?"

Laughing I looked at both of them. "What do you take me for an idiot? Yes, I've taught her how to shoot and I wouldn't want to be on the other end of that gun either."

"I think maybe you should inform Mia of what's going on so that she knows." Alex said.

"I will, but I'll wait until she wakes up again. I'm not going to wake her up to this mess."

"Deacon, I think that you need to rethink that." Axel said, pulling a photo out of the file, handing it to me.

Taking the picture from Axels hand and looking at it my heart instantly stopped. The picture was of Mia and I yesterday while we were out shopping for the twins. "They know about Mia and they know that she's pregnant." The words absolutely chilled me to the bone. "Axel, please go get Mia for me."

"Sure."

Axel's POV

Walking into Deacon and Mia's room, I found the Mia was just sitting up. "Mia, Deacon wanted to me come get you and have you come down to his office."

"Okay. Is everything okay?"

"I'll let him explain everything to you. I think that he's a little shook up at the moment."

"Okay, let's go then." She said standing up.

Deacon's POV

'How in the hell did he find out about Mia, let alone get close enough to us to get this picture?' I heard the door opening as Axel ushered Mia into the office. "Mia, come here." As soon as she was close enough to me I wrapped her in my arms holding her tightly, not wanting to let her go. "Mia, I need to show you something, but I need to have you promise me that you won't completely freak out okay?"

"I can't promise that I won't, but I promise that I'll try."

"I'll take that." I said calmly, showing her the picture of us. "This was taken yesterday."

Mia looked at the picture and then at me. "How did someone get close enough to get this picture?"

"That I don't know. But Mia that's not what has me worried."

"Worried?"

"Yes. The fact that someone got close enough to get this picture obviously in concerning, but it's who had this picture taken that worries me. The man who had this picture taken is beyond dangerous. Knowing that he not only knows about you, but also the fact that you're pregnant makes the situation worse." I pressed, trying to make sure not to scare her, but also letting her know how important the situation at hand is. "Axel do you have a picture of him?"

"Yeah." He said, handing me a picture.

"I need to know if you have ever seen him before, him or son."

As Mia looked at the picture her reaction said it all. "I've seen them both."

"Where?"

"He was someone I waited on several times in the club." She said pointing to the younger man in the picture.

"What about the older man?"

"At my room, before we got married. The manager said that he was the owner and that he insisted on checking out all the tenant's rooms to make sure that they weren't destroying anything in the room."

"Was this before or after we started to see each other?"

"About two months after we started to see each other. I didn't think anything of it though. They manager and him came in looked around for maybe ten minutes, said that they were pleased with the way everything in the room looked and then they both left."

"At any point were they out of your sight?"

"No, they didn't even go into the bathroom." She answered calmly, though I could see the tears that were forming in the corners of her eyes. "Deacon, that man was where I lived. He would have been told every time that you left."

"Mia, calm down okay. Your safe okay. We already talked about this before Axel came and got you, we're going up the security here at the house and we'll both have extra security when we go out. And I know that I told you that I didn't want you to carry your gun anymore because you're pregnant, but I think that it would be a good thing for you to start to carry it with you again just in case."

"Okay." She agreed. "It would probably be a good thing if we planned on having the delivery here right?"

"Yeah, I'm sure than Erin is more than capable of delivering them."

"Okay." Mia said lightly. "I've been thinking about something a lot lately and I wanted to ask you about it and since both Alex and Axel are here it's probably the best time to ask."

"Okay, shoot."

"I want to be more involved with things. I want to know how things work and once the twins are old enough I want to be more involved physically, but I want you to be the one who trains me when that time comes."

I almost fell over when she finished her sentence, and I didn't know what to say. "You want to what?"

"I want to go out when you go out and help with what you do. I know that I probably won't like some of what is going on, but I think that it would be a good thing for me to know."

"Can I say that I'll think about it and decide after the twins are here? You really did catch me off guard with that one."

"I think that's fair." She smiled, as she nodded her head.

As the day went on I kept Mia close by my side at all times. Although I knew that the odds of something happening while everyone was at the house was slim, but I just better having her where I could make sure that she was okay.

She mostly stayed close to the room unless, the craving for food arrived and then it was usually me who made the trip down to the kitchen for whatever she wanted and bring it back up with me, might I add that the cravings for what she's been hungry for recently have been wilder than hell too. Not that I really care all that much, since I know that it means that she's getting everything that she wants and everything that the twins want they are getting as well, but there's just something about mixing foods that you normally wouldn't eat together making her as happy as they do, it just seems odd to me.

I had left the room briefly in order to go to my office and grab some books and my laptop, but when I came back into the room I found the Mia was not in bed, but instead she was running the water to fill up the bath. "You know that you probably shouldn't be getting in there right?"

"I will use this bath, until I can't get into it myself, until then I don't want to here anything about it from you. Plus, my legs are killing me and since it wouldn't do any good for me to shower to try and relax them since I would have to stand in order to shower this is how I'm going to relax."

"I'm not going to argue with you on that fact." I laughed. "I think that a bath would do you a lot of good right now actually. I'm sure as much as you're been on you're feet today that it would feel wonderful for you to be able stretch your legs out and let them soak for awhile."

The smile that she gave me was enough to make me melt. "When you get out of the tub, bring your lotion with you and I'll rub your legs and back for you."

"You don't have to do that, but thank you. Can we watch a movie when I come out though?"

"Sure." I'll get everything set up.

***************************************

I had just finished queuing up the movie that I had picked out for us to watch, when Mia emerged from the bathroom, dressed in a pair a of my sweatpants and a tank top. Even so, she still looked amazing. "Come here, I have a movie ready to go, a huge bowl of popcorn for us to share, that weird carbonated water stuff that you like so much and your blanket is right here waiting for you."

"God, does this feel good." Mia laughed as she swung her feet up onto the bed and leaned into my shoulder. "So what did you pick out for us to watch tonight?"

"Just something that I figured that you'd like." I laughed, hitting play on the remote.

********************************************************

We had only made it half way through the movie when I looked over and found that Mia had already fell asleep on my shoulder. Gently I laid her down onto her pillow and kissed her forehead, while covering her up. "Get as much rest as you need baby, I have a feeling that you're gonna need it when those little ones come. We both will."
