Chapter 603 - CH76 (598), Disaster Relief (6)

Like the first one, the second month had me traveling from one disaster zone to the next, though most of these "disasters" were ones that affected a small area. "Disasters" that exceeded the area of a village were quite rare, and I had only come across two such cases during the first three weeks of month no.2, though even those were limited to the town level.

I had not come across any disasters that could affect cities, much less major cities, ever since the drainage disaster of Granite Town which threatened the water supply of Sepia City. That was good I suppose since a frequent need for the disaster relief bureau at that level would have been quite worrying. Compared to that, the relief missions to the wild, villages, or even towns were not too worrying since those happened all across Kanto, and Kanto was pretty d*mn vast.

Anyway, like before, I was planning to spend the third weekend of this month inside Utopia as well. Kyoday was spent partly training and partly relaxing. After dinner, upon strong request by everyone, I, together with the cooking assistant squad, made a lot of berry ice cream for everyone to eat, and we finished the day with me sharing one of the many stories I knew.

Grouday started out as usual, with breakfast followed by our usual Grouday check-up routine. The check-up went like always, right up until it didn't. While I was checking the Eevee Squad an irregularity appeared. More specifically, while I was checking Borr, the shiny Eevee, I noticed that he, unlike his fellow squad members, had already completed his limit-breaking phase, making him the first of the Eevee Quartet to be ready for the breakthrough to the silver stage.

Unfortunately, since Borr wanted to evolve into Glaceon, he would be "unable" to evolve before his breakthrough due to the evolution falling under the trigger evolution category, which meant that he would need to wait until he reached the (high) silver stage before he could evolve.

Regardless, Borr being ready for his breakthrough was already more than enough to look forward to, and once I finished the rest of the check-ups I announced his upcoming breakthrough over Utopia FM. We then made our way to the Eevee area, where we waited for everyone else to arrive as well.

Once that happened, Fortuna/Togekiss and I did our usual pre-breakthrough routine, though this time around Nyx/Umbreon and the other Eevee insisted on joining us. I had no problem with that, and once we had all hugged Borr and wished him good luck, we joined the others in the circle. I then told Borr to go ahead, and he initiated his breakthrough.

The process went smoothly and once Borr's (mid) silver undulations spread, we knew it was over. I naturally made my way to Borr's side, and on the way there I did not forget to check out Borr, though I saw no changes compared to before. He still looked like a "regular" shiny Eevee.

I was not surprised when the Eevee Squad led by Nyx rushed past me and doggy-piled Borr. I had to laugh a bit seeing their enthusiasm and deftly picked up Borr upon making it to their side, freeing him from the "pile" he was "buried" under. Once I had him in my arms, I congratulated him on reaching the silver stage before letting him rejoin his fellow Eevee, though only after opening his status sheet.

'Name: Borr

Species: Eevee

Gender: Male

Age: 6+ years

-

Type: Normal

Potential: Purple (95.56%)*

{Light Purple (33.84%) -> (35.56%) -> Purple (95.56%)}'

Borr belonged to the group that got to enjoy the full effect of the potential bonus from limit breaking, and I had it say it was always nice to see the huge effect it had. He was less than 5% away from attaining Deep Purple potential, and I was confident that we would be able to cover that before his next breakthrough, though I had to admit that the source of my confidence was his future evolution to Glaceon.

Regardless of how small the potential bonus granted by the supplements I prepared would be, I was absolutely sure that it would exceed 5% by a lot. I naturally shared the good news with Borr, and everyone else. The others had joined us by now, and they all congratulated Borr once more upon hearing the good news.

The next few sections remained unchanged, right until his parameter section. Seeing all the Es across his parameter sheet was enough to illustrate that we had a lot of work ahead of us before he could advance to the (high) silver stage.

'Parameters:

Stage: Silver Stage (mid)*

Vitality: E

Strength: E

Endurance: E

Agility: E

Energy Capacity: E

Energy Density: E'

The sections after that returned to being unaffected by the breakthrough, though that did not stop me from contemplating our next step upon reaching his move section. We had chosen to focus on his special/energy moves since that was the area his future evolution excelled.

Quick Attack had been the exception to that, and right now I was considering if we should focus on that one once more since being able to go faster was nearly always a good thing.

In the end, I chose to leave the choice up to Borr, and with that decision made, I began to pull out everything we needed to celebrate Borr's breakthrough to the silver stage.

The next day I resumed my work with the relief bureau, which once again had me traveling across Kanto. I fell into a rhythm of sorts, where I and my Pokemon did "basic" work to help out in the "destroyed" areas during the day while spending the evenings as well as weekends inside Utopia.

It was only on Dialday, the last day of the month that something pulled me out of the rhythm, and considering the nature of the news that did that, I was not mad about it at all. Tiamat/Milotic asked me shortly before dinner to check out her status, and a quick glance confirmed that she had succeeded in completing her limit-breaking phase.

We postponed dinner in favor of her breakthrough, and everyone headed to Tiamat as well as Abzu/Milotic's place. I made sure to announce the upcoming breakthrough over UtopiaFM since it was part of the tradition, and we waited for everyone who wanted to watch to arrive before we began the pre-breakthrough tradition.

Once that had been settled as well, and we had joined the others in the circle, she initiated her breakthrough. Tiamat was expected to attain light aurora potential, so a bit of glimmer along with a slightly longer breakthrough process was something we expected. The moment Tiamat's dark gold stage undulations spread, I headed to her side with Abzu accompanying me.

I made sure to hug and congratulate her first before making room for Abzu, who entwined his neck and "antennae" with Tiamat's, which was their version of a hug. As the two talked/warbled, the others joined us as well, and I proceeded to check out Tiamat's new/updated status sheet while they all congratulated her.

'Name: Tiamat

Species: Milotic

Gender: Female

Age: 14+ Years

-

Type: Water

Potential: Light Aurora (11.18%)*

{Deep Purple (40.98%) -> (42.36%) -> Light Aurora (11.18%)}'

The expected potential upgrade happened, and as usual, it unlocked a third ability. The three abilities of the Milotic line were well known, so I was not surprised to see Competitive listed as Tiamat's third ability.

'Abilities: Marvel Scale, Cute Charm, Competitive*'

Competitive was a pretty useful ability, that increased Tiamat's energy offensive capabilities each time any parameter of hers got reduced by someone, and I had nothing to complain about really. After confirming her third ability, I checked the next few sections, but they remained unchanged. It was when I looked at her affinity list that I saw something new.

'Affinities: Water, Psychic (budding)*'

It was always nice to see an extra affinity appearing on one of my Pokemon's status sheets. Still, I heavily suspected that the appearance of this budding psychic affinity was related to our bond and my affinity/prowess as a psychic.

Speaking of our bond, I had felt it deepen while I had been congratulating Tiamat on her breakthrough, so it was not a surprise to see it being displayed as deep.

'Bond: Mikail (deep)*

Quirks: None

----

Parameters:

Stage: Dark Gold Stage (mid)*

Vitality: C

Strength: E

Endurance: D

Agility: D

Energy Capacity: C

Energy Density: B'

As for her parameter section, we had felt her (mid) dark gold might as soon as she was done breaking through. However, unlike the undulations she was releasing, her parameter section was able to tell me that Tiamat was only one parameter increase away from advancing to the (high) dark gold stage, which was wonderful news.

Raising her strength parameter to a D-value should not take too long, and I was expecting her to advance sometime around the start of my official journey, plus/minus a few months. Tiamat was very happy with that news, and she had every right to be happy since that was the first important step towards the next stage.

Regardless of her great lot with her parameters, I was much less optimistic about her odds of completing her resistance training.

'Resistance: Fire (Minor), Water (Minor), Ice (Minor), Steel (Minor)

-

Weaknesses: Electric (Minor), Grass (Minor)

-

Standardized:

Electric (in progress)'

I had really hoped that her breakthrough would help her complete the standardization process for us. It would not have been the first time that happened, but unfortunately, luck had not been on Tiamat's side in this case. This meant that we would need to keep working on this ourselves, which considering Tiamat's attitude toward the electric resistance training would take another few years to complete.

She was lagging behind Abzu in that matter considering that he had already managed to complete his electric resistance training during his last breakthrough. He was currently working on his only weakness, and once he managed to deal with his minor grass energy/type weakness, he would be without any obvious vulnerabilities.

Anyway, I finished looking through the rest of her status sheet, including her move section, and considering her new affinity I decided that the next move she would be focusing on/learning was Psychic.

Now that I was done with Tiamat's status, I began taking out everyone's dinner. Only after we had eaten did we start Tiamat's celebration, though going by the atmosphere during dinner, we could probably count the dinner as part of the party. Since tomorrow was Kyoday and I had the weekend off, we kept the party going past midnight.

By the time we went to sleep, it was already past 1 a.m., but that was no problem since I slept until 8 a.m., which was more than enough for me to be full of energy. I started off the first day of the new/10th month by preparing a hearty breakfast for everyone with the help of two Earth Clones. Luna/Celfable and Gwen/Gardevoir joined me as well shortly after I began cooking. It appeared they had woken up early as well.

Breakfast was ready by 9, and I made sure to call everyone over by spreading the fragrance of the food right to their noses. Well, except for Beldum, who did not really have a nose. After breakfast, we trained for two hours, before playing dodgeball with a super-resistant ball that could be thrown or propelled in any way including the usage of moves.

For safety's sake, those at or above the gold stage played among themselves, while those below played together as well. I acted as the referee and ensured the "weaker" ones did not get injured whenever the "stronger" ones got too enthusiastic.
