We did not get any further cases aside from those unfortunate two, so the good doctor made me watch the recording of Primeape's operation and list the techniques as well as actions performed by her along with the reasons why I thought she used them.
Honestly, the only good thing was that this whole exchange happened verbally, so I did not have to write a report or anything like that. Besides, this felt more like an exchange rather than some homework since the doctor actually replied to my answers, and either denied them, before providing the real reasoning behind the usage of a technique/decision or confirmed them before adding to it.
The exchange was rather interesting and it ended up going until I got to get off work. Honestly, for me, the whole thing was a reminder that, precisely because we were living in a supernatural world with beings capable of accomplishing so so much due to/through the energy all around us, we could still die, get crippled, maimed, or severely hurt by others making use of the power they gained.
While I had known this even before seeing the operation, the occasional reminder provided by life, even without me wanting to witness them, ensured that I would not forget that fact. I spent the rest of the day in Utopia with my Pokemon and that was enough to get rid of the negative vibes.
Anyway, life went on, and Kyoday ended up being a mixed bag since we were unusually busy, but none of the 4 cases were as serious as the Primeape one, not to mention the Azumarill one. Nonetheless, cases such as heavy internal bleeding and broken bones across the majority of the body were still serious cases that had to be dealt with by us, so I had my busiest day so far with this unit.
Still, at the end of my workday, we, or rather the doctor, had ensured that all 4 Pokemon would be able to make a full recovery as long as they followed the post-op procedures, and I was happy to have been part of that, even if it was just handing instruments/tools to the doctor.
Being witness to these operations also served as a reminder of just how much of a cheat Utopia was since its healing and life-preserving abilities alone could be considered an unreal advantage that was available to me/us at all times. I could not help but be even more appreciative of Utopia when I thought of that.
Anyway, I chose to spend the night in Utopia since tomorrow was Grouday/my day off, and after waking up and eating breakfast with everyone else, I declared the start of our weekly check-up routine. Everything went well until I saw something that took me off guard but in a positive manner.
It appeared that Osiris/Marowak's agility had finally risen to SS sometime this week, which meant that we could go through with his evolution since we had decided to only wait until the completion of the second round of his limit breaking.
I directly shared the good news with him as well as everyone else, and the excitement level rose to the sky since all we ever got to see of Skellibra were some drawings and photos, so the prospect of seeing a real-life one excited everyone, though the most excited were without a doubt Osiris and Igneel/Charizard.
Still, I made sure that we finished the check-up of the others first before I made the declaration of his upcoming evolution over Utopia and we made our way to his territory/habitat. The Ghosts and the Spinda Quartet came, along with the Gaia/Nidoqueen and Seb/Nidoking's parents, as well as their younger sibling.
Some others joined from each of the large groups, so we ended up with quite the crowd that gathered to witness Osiris' evolution to Skellibra. While my Pokemon were busy organizing the crowd into a proper circle around Osiris, I pulled out the supplements I had prepared for this moment.
I gave the ones that could be ingested to Osiris, but before I could start applying the external ones to his body Fortuna/Togetic came flying over and hugged him. She wished him the best of luck, and when she saw me looking at her, she told me that she had to do that before I smudged his body, which made Osiris laugh and me chuckle.
Anyway, once Osiris had ingested the stuff I gave him, and I had applied the external stuff to his body, I wished him the best of luck as well before retreating to the circle that had formed around him. I gave Osiris the signal to start his evolution, and a moment later he lit up like a light bulb.
The evolution went smoothly, or at least I assume that to be the case, and once the light died down, we all got our first glimpse of a real-life Skellibra. From the sounds they were giving off, everyone seemed to be quite impressed, and even Igneel, who was standing beside me was too busy checking out his big brother's new look to rush ahead of me to congratulate him.
I naturally checked out Osiris' new body as well, but I did so while heading to his side. From the information I had found out from data on previously discovered specimens, Skellibra was a bipedal Pokemon with well-defined legs that usually reached a respectable height between 200 to 230 cm, which was the case here as well, though, by my estimates, Osiris appeared to be a bit bigger than that.
Similarly to the others of his species I had read about, Osiris had sand-brown scales as well, along with a white belly portion, with black horizontal lines, that stretched until the tip of his tail, kind of like the one on a Dragonite.
His tail had two white bone spikes growing out close to the tip, and his arms kind of resembled the ones of a Charizard in form, though they appeared more defined/muscled than those of their distant cousins, which was probably because they got to see more use. Igneel's presence made it easy to confirm that one.
Osiris/Skellibra's right hand was clutching a long bone of which the upper part had been worn down into a pseudo-blade, while the lower part retained its bone shape and could be used as a club. Meanwhile, the left arm sported a skull that was clearly supposed to be a shield.
Speaking of skulls, his head had lost the bone skull and looked distinctly reptilian/draconian in shape. It looked kind of like a mix between Charizard and Dragonite, just without the horns and antennae. Osiris had a bone plate on his head that covered the area between his eyes, with one end pointing towards his snout, while the other end ended in a bone spike.
All in all, Osiris looked pretty much exactly like the Skellibra that had been documented by Professor Oak and the others, if a bit bigger than the ones they had seen. Regardless, I stopped in front of Osiris and watched him study his new body for a few moments before I congratulated him on his successful evolution.
Apparently, I did that just in time as well since Igneel came dive-bombing us full of excitement. He crashed into his big bro, literally since Osiris was back to being larger than Igneel, and embraced him in a hug while excitedly proclaiming how cool Osiris looked, much to the pride and joy of Osiris.
The others took that as the signal to approach as well, and while they were all busy congratulating Osiris, I checked out his new/updated status sheet.
'Name: Osiris
Species: Skellibra*
Gender: Male
Age: 13+ Years'
I immediately checked out the species description to take a look at its racial value spreadsheet, and I had to say that Skellibra's Racial Value/Base Stat was impressive enough, even if it was not as high as that of a pseudo-legendary. Nonetheless, at 564 RV/BS, which was pretty impressive in itself, Skellibra had surpassed the RV/BS of Charizard, and I was pretty sure that was no coincidence since that had been the case at each stage of their development.
Also, looking at Skellibra's individual values, it was obvious that the species was one focused on physical offense and lasting power, which was why it had great endurance value and a pretty good energy density value. A build like that naturally had a drawback, which was the rather average agility and energy capacity values of the species.
Still, Skellibra was a great physical fighter, and I was quite impressed with its base stat sheet. I told Osiris as much while I shared with him what I found out, and he as well as the others were just as impressed with what they learned about Skellibra. Igneel literally looked up to Osiris while telling him how impressive he was. Meanwhile, I resumed looking through his status sheet.
'Type: Ground, Dragon*
Potential: Light Aurora (22.67%)*
{Light Aurora (15.71%) -> (22.67%)}
Genetic variation: None'
The addition of the dragon typing was no surprise since I/we had already known that Skellibra was a Ground/Dragon type. Just like I had known that the increase in potential provided by the supplements would be rather limited due to his already high potential. Igneel/Charizard had already shown that, and Osiris had now proven that to be true.
Predictably, the modified section was empty. I had honestly already expected it to be like this seeing the situation in his potential section. Well, at least now I knew for sure. Nonetheless, seeing how there was nothing to share, I decided to move on to the next section.
The ability section was one I had definitely been looking forward to. I did not know if Osiris' evolution would result in a change of abilities or not, but I was hoping it did.
'Abilities: Rock Head, Lightning Rod, Mold Breaker*
Talents: Conduct Current
Affinities: Ground, Dragon*
-
Bond: Mikail (strong)
Quirks: None'
Well, I was honestly relieved that Battle Armor was the ability that got replaced since that was, at least in my opinion, the worst one among Osiris' abilities. I was not all that surprised he kept Lightning Rod due to a theory I had come up with on why the Marowak line had this ability in the first place even though they were already immune to electric energy.
In my opinion, it was due to the original Cubone's mother being a Charizard. It gave Cubone the symbolic ability to cover her weakness and protect her from harm, at least of the electric kind. I called it symbolic because according to the myths, the mother died shortly after it was born.
Naturally, this was not something I could confirm, but I thought it fit, and the theory could even be extended to his other abilities, just in reverse with the mother's will to protect her child resulting in their appearance since those two were abilities that "protected" the Cubone/Marowak line in certain ways.
Still, great theory(ies) or not, unless one of the OG legendaries told me whether I was right or not, I had no way to validate them, so they would remain as nothing more than speculations on my part.
Regardless, I was pretty happy with his new ability since Mold Breaker was a pretty great ability that allowed Osiris' moves to ignore the effect of most other abilities. An opposing example of this would be that Mold Breaker did not allow its holder to hit a levitating Pokemon with Earthquake since neither the user nor the move made actual contact with the foe, which I could not complain about since it made sense.
Still, unlike the previous example, Mold Breaker did allow one's moves to slip through abilities like Lightning Rod or Sap Sipper, so one could use electric moves against someone with Lightning Rod or grass moves against someone with Sap Sipper. All in all, Osiris had gotten a great ability, and I was pretty pleased with the exchange that took place.
Knowing that he had to have gotten an extra affinity due to his additional dragon typing, I decided to confirm that before I shared this batch of good news with Osiris and the others. Looking at the next section showed that his talent section remained unchanged, and right below that one was the affinity section, which did sport a new addition.
Having confirmed his new dragon affinity, I shared the collective good news with the others, and they were happy for Osiris. Everyone knew that Mold Breaker was a good ability so that was the point most of them focused on, and while they did that, I focused on the rest of Osiris' status sheet since I was curious about what else had changed due to his evolution.

That the parameter section remained unchanged was no surprise, so I directly moved on to his type relation section, which has seen quite some change as a result of his evolution. The resistance subsection only saw a small change with the addition of a "minor" fire resistance.
The weakness subsection on the other hand went through a complete shuffle. Osiris lost his "minor" grass-type weakness but gained a "minor" dragon and fairy weakness in return. The biggest piece of good news here was probably that the ice resistance training Osiris had been working on got completed during his evolution, which led to him retaining his "minor" ice type weakness instead of it upgrading to a "major" one.
Furthermore, since Skellibra did not have a water type weakness, Osiris' previously standardized water weakness led to him having a basis to work on in case he tried to attain a "minor" water resistance.
I naturally shared the news with Osiris and he was happy that his previous hard work proved useful. Some good-naturedly proclaimed their envy at his luck with his ice weakness, while others simply congratulated him. I joined in for a bit before continuing to look through the last bit of his status sheet.

The addition of the draconic energy manipulation was no surprise since that came with his new dragon typing. Still, it was interesting to see the stark contrast his new novice mastery formed with his mastered ground energy manipulation.
Nonetheless, much more interesting than that was the actual addition of an incredible four new moves to his move pool. This was the first time I saw or heard about an evolution resulting in a Pokemon gaining so many new moves.
Dragon Dance was an obvious one that was related to his new typing, while Slash was obviously related to his bone club's blade-like portion. These two moves, I at least knew about. However, this was the first time I heard of the moves Shield Bash and Shieldmerang.
It was naturally obvious that the two moves were related to the shield Skellibra had, and I had a good idea of what each move did since the names were rather on the nose. Regardless, that naturally did not stop me from asking Osiris to demonstrate the two moves, and that was exactly what I asked him to do after I shared the news with him.
Everyone was excited to hear about the two new moves, so we all watched as he performed each move a few times. Shield Bash was pretty much a bashing move just as the name suggested. While performing the move, Osiris clad his shield in steel energy before bashing his (imaginary) target in various ways.
Shieldmerang on the other hand was Osiris channeling his inner Captain America and throwing his skull shield at its target. Naturally, the skull shield returned to Osiris after hitting its target, so it was pretty much the same as Bonemerang, just with his new skull shield instead of his bone club.
After showing those two moves, Osiris also tested out Dragon Dance as well as Slash, and as I had expected, he performed Slash using his bone blade. Anyway, once he was done with the move testing, I led him and the others to my area for his celebration.
