Once the Fields arrived, Rose came up to us and began hugging us in order, with me coming up second.
"Jessie, once more, thank you for your help," she said, confusing me a bit since I didn't know why she was thanking her.
"Don't mind it," Jessie waved her off, not helping my confusion at all. "I've only had to adjust mine a bit so that they could fit your Pokemon. All the training you've done before was certainly helpful as well."
"Still, thank you a lot. Having a few detailed examples at hand made it easier for me to come up with my own. I've already thought up one for Princess and am working on another for Ivy," Rose said, and I was starting to get an idea of what they were talking about.
"I already told you, that you don't have to do it on your own. I had Mikail help me as well, and from what you said he offered to help you long ago after he helped you start on the path," Jessie said in a tone that portrayed that she had indeed repeated this multiple times.
Nonetheless, I was starting to get what this was about, but before I could ask for clarification, Kinji spoke up first.
"Sorry, girls," he started exasperatedly. "Could you please explain what this is about for those of us not in the know?"
The two paused at his interruption, and Rose gained a pink hue on her cheeks, while Jessie threw him and me an apologetic look.
"Well, I'll be graduating in half a year, and while I would theoretically have another year until the start of my journey, everyone I've spoken with says that the practical year is a super busy one," when she mentioned that point, both Jessica and Kinji nodded.
"Since I feel pretty prepared for my exams, I've decided to use the free time I have to prepare a few routines for my journey as a Coordinator. Mikail already gave me move exercises for that, so I decided to ask Jess for some advice instead since she can be considered a famous performer now," she finished her explanation and the answer was pretty much as I had thought it would be.
"Yes, Rose asked me for help, and after I had her demonstrate the moves of her Pokemon, I chose a few of my performances that I believed fit them. We adjusted those performances to give Rose a base to work with in the future," Jessica added before looking at me with a wry smile.
"I told her that you helped me with those performances and that you would help her as well if she asked, but Rose said that she did not want to bother you even more," Jessie disclosed, causing Rose to blush and protest.
"Jessica," Rose cried out in protest before she looked over to me and pouted. "You've already helped me so much, so I wanted to do this without leaning on you for help," she mumbled, but all of us could hear her.
I could see her wringing her hands, head looking toward the ground, whether that was due to nervousness, fluster, or embarrassment, I did not know. Still, I could not help but smile at her behavior and thoughts. I went up to her and pat her on the head, making her look at me.
"That's not how you should think about it," I said with a shake of my head. "Rather than that, you should think, I've already received so much help, so who cares if I receive some more," I said as seriously as I could on this situation, even if a smile still made its way onto my face.
I heard some giggling coming from behind us, where I knew the parents were. Moreover, I heard a snort coming from beside me, which was definitely Kinji trying to suppress his chuckling. Nonetheless, I ignored them all and gave Rose a reassuring smile to show her that I was not joking.
"Alright?" I asked her while giving her another head pat. She looked even redder than before but still nodded in acknowledgment.
"No wonder Ace called Mikail's situation comedic gold," I heard Kinji mutter, and while that was a bit mortifying, I could not help but wonder how it was possible that this was the first time Kinji got to witness such a situation.
I could remember at least two other comparably cheesy occasions where he should have been present. Maybe he was busy chatting with others while those happened. Regardless, I ignored all that and focused on Rose, who nodded with an *en*.
Anyway, after that episode, we just chatted and played board games until dinner. Jess and I offered to help in the kitchen, along with Rose who reacted belatedly. However, mom and aunt Lily refused, so we let them be after some half-hearted protests. Half-hearted since we could tell that nothing would change their minds.
Dinner itself was a lovely affair, and after we helped clean up the table, we moved in front of the TV to watch a new year's movie. An hour before midnight, I proposed that Jessie and I let some of our Pokemon put on a performance for everyone, so we all moved to the terrace.
Since it was my idea, I decided to go first and called out Mothra/Butterfree. After telling her what I wanted, I began to share what I was seeing with Utopia, and Mothra lost no time to start, by corkscrewing into the air while leaving a colorful trail behind.
She did not allow the powder to disperse and instead used Psychic to separate it into three clouds. The purple, green, and yellow clouds began circling each other, before Mothra moved it behind her back, making it look like a halo. I could hear the exclamations of awe around me, and I could not suppress the smile forming on my face.
Mothra separated the halo into three mist-like clouds once more and began to dance in the air, with the clouds moving along to the rhythm. At the end of her short dance, she produced an Energy Ball, which she made spin in place before moving the clouds at it and letting them go, causing the whole thing to look like a spiral galaxy for a lack of better words.
You know, the ones like the milky way, not that I knew if that one even existed in this universe or not. Still, one did not need to know that to appreciate the beauty of Mothra's creation, and from the reactions around me, appreciating it, they certainly did.
For a finale, Mothra moved the spinning ball above her before she released a quick wide Solar Beam that burned the clouds before causing an explosion due to the Energy Ball. Green light began to rain down on her as a result and she bowed after that. Everyone began applauding her for her performance, and Rose as well as Jessie rushed up to her as soon as she came down.
I let them be for a few minutes before I had Mothra move beside me so that Jessie could have the stage. She looked a bit nervous after our grand opening, but I gave her a reassuring smile and a nod, as did everyone else, so she collected herself and called out her Blissey. Their performance was a pretty good one that she had yet to upload on PoryTom, and everyone made sure to clap for her as well.
After her, it was my turn again, and this time I called out Manami/Lapras, who began her performance using a super low-powered Powder Snow to set the atmosphere. She then began to sing a classic, in her Lapras-speak. She would use Ice Beam to create some ice forms during the pauses or high notes.
In case it was not clear, my water/ice Plesiosaurus look-alike was singing "Let it go". She came up with the idea after listening to me play the tune on my ocarina one too many times and asked me for a text to accompany the tune. Seeing her enthusiasm, I could not help but agree, and we tried our best to make it work.
It was still not perfect, since she had problems creating the ice forms at the perfect moment, but she was working on it. Besides, it was helping her master Ice Beam, so I saw no problems at all with her working on it as much as she was.
Furthermore, Manami, and Lapras in general, had a really pleasant voice, so her singing sounded incredible. The cheers from our audience attested to at least that much. Anyway, I asked Manami to move beside me as well, and while I was contemplating calling out Enji/Arcanine to deal with the ice, Agni/Arcanine used Heat Wave to deal with it.
Mothra's performance had lured all my parent's Pokemon over to watch the show as well, at least the ones that stayed outside, but within our property, so I was not that surprised that he acted. I just gave him a grateful nod, while watching Jessie call out her Wobbuffet.
Now, many from my old world would wonder what kind of performance a Wobbuffet could put on, and they would be right in their disbelief since canon Wobbuffet had a truly pitiful move pool. Thankfully, that was not the case here, at least not fully.
Wobbuffet could learn all kinds of shield and barrier moves along with Psywave, Psybeam, and Rest, on top of its canon moves, so it was not as useless move-wise. For the performance, Jessie's Wobbuffet made use of his various shields and Psybeam's colorfulness to cause a light show, while he was moving like a conductor. I had to admit that it looked pretty cool, and the others seemed to agree with me.
After Jessie had her Wobbuffet move beside her as well, Rose seemed to have become motivated by our performances since she said she wanted to show us the performance Princess/Vulpix had been working on. Naturally, all she received from our side was encouragement, and while there were probably a few missteps, such as her control of her Will-O-Wisp during the dance part, the performance was a pretty good one.
We made sure she knew that by cheering as well as applauding and by the happiness both Princess and Rose were showing, they understood that they did a good job. Anyway, after Rose's performance, there were only 10 minutes left until midnight, and others already began shooting off fireworks, so we stopped the performances.
Dad and uncle Thorn went inside to bring out the fireworks they/we had bought for the occasion. They came back out with their arms full of all kinds of rockets. Don't ask me why they did not put them into their bags of holding. It might have to do with the feeling of holding so many rockets in the arms.
Well, at least they put the empty bottles into their bags, so they did not have to go back inside to bring them over. Instead, they began pulling them out and lining them up on the terrace before placing the rockets inside. The duo looked over to us and asked if we wanted to fire a few up in advance as well.
I was content with waiting, but the others agreed, so we ended up sending a few up. Once midnight rang, everyone began igniting the rockets they were assigned and we stood back to enjoy the view of the sky shining in all kinds of colors. The Pokemon present also decided to contribute and send up a few flashy moves, such as Fire Blast, Thunderbolt, and Solar Beam into the air.
We stood there for nearly 20 minutes, watching the sky bloom in a multitude of colors before we went back inside. Mom had already persuaded them to stay the night before today, and they ended up agreeing since we did have enough room for them, on top of it being already half past midnight before the fireworks settled.
Still, no one was ready to sleep yet, so we watched another movie before we separated for the night. Kinji bunkered down in my room, on an extra bed we had pulled out for the occasion. Jessica got to sleep in the office, and the Fields got to sleep in the living room, which was swiftly transformed into a bedroom by mom.
