'Let's see,' I thought while looking at the marked number, and I could not keep my surprise from showing when I saw that the number was much higher than I expected it to be.
"No need to be surprised, you've earned those points through your success. The detailed list is on the backside, so you can take a look there if you're curious how you've reached that number," Mr. Cameron informed me after briefly looking up when he heard me gasp in surprise.
"Thanks," I returned while flipping the paper to see how I managed to get so many academy points.
I saw that the points I had left over after visiting the Riolu habitat along with the points I was awarded for my stellar academic prowess during my graduation added up to 323 academic points/AP. Being the first-ranked student among the graduates was included in this.
Then came the rewards and bonuses I received for my accomplishments during each stage of the competition. First came the reward for becoming an academy representative, which was 200 AP, and I got that reward twice due to qualifying in both categories.
Then I received 400 AP for becoming a Rota representative, and I received this one twice as well for the same reason. Moreover, I received 200 AP for becoming the champion of Rota in each category, along with a 100 Ap bonus for being a dual champion.
Then came the rewards for becoming a representative of the northern continent. 800 AP for each category, along with 400 AP for each championship, and a 200 AP bonus for being the dual champion of the continental competition as well.
Finally, I received 1600 AP for each status as a global champion, along with an 800 AP Bonus for my status as the global dual champion. The academy had apparently decided to be especially generous for my victory at the global competition.
All in all, I received 400 Ap during the academy phase, 1300 AP during the Rota phase, 2600 AP during the continental phase, and 4000 AP during the global phase of the competition, resulting in a total increase of 8300 AP.
Adding the 323 AP I earned outside the competition, I ended up with 8623 Ap, which was my current academy point balance. That was a few thousand more than I had expected to have, hence my surprise. With that many points, I could visit quite a few habitats.
I put my file aside and took the first document that contained the list of habitats instead. Each habitat that was listed had a brief introduction below the habitat's name/species.
The introduction also listed behavioral points that had to be paid attention to during the visit. Most importantly, the fee for the visit to the habitat was displayed beside the habitat title.
Curiously, the first document contained all officially available species on its two sides, so I was a bit curious about what was written in the second document. Still, I focused on reading through the document at hand first.
The species/habitat's on this document were Riolu for 2500 AP, Togepi for 1800 AP, Ralts for 1500 AP, Tyrogue for 1250 AP, Mienfoo for 1250 AP as well, Buneary for 1000 AP, and finally Clauncher also for 1000 AP.
I would definitely be visiting the Togepi and Ralts habitats. I also had a marked interest in visiting the Tyrogue and Mienfoo habitats due to my interest in both Hitmonform as well as Mienshao.
Adding the fees of each of those visits together resulted in 5800 AP, which theoretically left me with another 2823 AP. I would be lying if I said that I was not interested in getting the chance to get another Riolu, but I was also interested in acquiring a Buneary, or rather a future Lopunny, specifically one of the Aura-Variants I had seen.
Then there was also the second document. I decided to take a look at that one first before making any decision, to see if there was anything that would attract my attention, so I set the first document aside and read through the second one.
The title of the document directly explained why I got access to the species on it. It was titled "Extra privilege due to Global Dual Championship", and there were 5 species/habitats on it.
The first one was a Mankey habitat for 1000 AP, Pancham for 1250 AP, Meditite for 1400 AP, Hawlucha for 1800 AP, and finally 3000 AP for a visit to a Squirtle habitat. The academy actually had a Squirtle tribe, how surprising.
"Sir, why is the fee to visit the Squirtle habitat so high?" I curiously asked Mr. Cameron, who looked up from his work when he heard me address him.
"Oh, that's because the number of Squirtle we have is pretty low compared to the other habitats. Also, each Squirtle there knows Aura Sphere, since they are either born with it or are specifically taught the move before they reach the (high) iron stage," he explained before focusing back on his work.
Well, that was pretty impressive and explained the high price. Regardless, I could not afford it anyway if I went through with my plan to pay a visit to the previously mentioned four habitats due to being left with less than 3000 AP.
Still, the second document opened new combinations on how I could spend the leftover 2823 AP if I did not choose to visit the Riolu habitat for a second time.
I could visit the Buneary habitat along with any of the habitats on the second document except for the Squirtle one. Mankey could pair with any of the other three habitats on the second document as well. The others had fewer pairing options.
Still, there were quite a few possible combinations, so I would have to carefully consider which one I would choose. As for the material list, I would check that one after I had decided which combination I would be going with since I preferred Pokemon over materials, and I did not want my decision to be influenced by material gains.
I would just choose materials according to the amount I was left at the end, and not more than that. After I made that decision, I packed away all my papers, gaining the attention of Mr. Cameron as a result.
"Done already?" He asked and I nodded. "Have you already made your decision, or did you decide to think about it some more?" he inquired next.
"Partly," I began to answer. "I'm definitely going to visit the Togepi and Ralts habitat but I'm unsure how to deal with the rest of my academy points. The Tyrogue and Mienfoo habitats are the most tempting, but other combinations are appealing as well, so I'll think about those some more," I explained and he nodded.
"That's good no need to rush your decision. Don't worry about having to spend all your points as soon as possible. I'll make sure you can use them whenever you want even if it's a year later," he guaranteed and I thanked him with a smile.
"I would be grateful if you could organize an appointment for me to visit the Togepi habitat and one for the Ralts habitat as well, but not on the same day," I requested and he agreed.
"Sure, I can do that," he said while writing it down in a notebook. "I'll talk to the tribe supervisors regarding the best times for your visit, and inform you after I have an answer," he told me when he saw me looking at his notebook.
Thanking him for the things he did for me had become a habit by now since it happened so often.
"Alright, now that the matter of your academy points is out of the way, let's talk about the other matters. Have you decided which species you want to choose from for your global reward?" Mr. Cameron asked since I had told him that I would make my decision by today.
"Yes, I have," I told him with a nod. "I want to choose a Gible," I informed him and he smiled at me before nodding.
"It's a good choice. Actually, all options are good in their own way, so this was a question of preference," he said before laughing a bit. "I had actually thought you would end up choosing Beldum, but Gible is just as good."
After he said that he briefly wrote something on the computer before focusing back on me.
"I'll personally head to Sinnoh to receive the 3 Gible they'll provide for the selection, and to ensure everything is proper. I'm not exactly sure how long it will take on their part to select the suitable Gible, but I believe you'll be able to make your selection sometime next week," he assured and I fully trusted him when he said that.
"I'll leave it to you, sir," was all I said on that topic, and he moved on after that.
"I've finished the talks with Oak's laboratory regarding your visit to their royal breeding center, specifically the Charmander one. I arranged an appointment on Grouday next week.
You will be given access to nearly all the areas of the facility during the selection process, and you have until 5 p.m to choose your preferred Charmander.
I'll bring you to the facility on Grouday, and pick you back up as well, so let's meet in front of the academy at 9:45 a.m, " Mr. Cameron explained and I gave him a grateful nod for arranging everything. "I'll be there on time," I promised.
"That's everything I believe," he declared. "Unless there is something else you want to add or say," he asked and I shook my head in denial. "No, sir. That's all," I returned and he gave a satisfied nod.
He then indicated that I could go and I thanked him once more before excusing myself and leaving. My visit to the academy took less than 2 hours, so I had more than enough time to finish the grooming/massage session for the rest once I was back home.
Two hours before dinner only Nyx/Umbreon and her group were left. I called out all of them at once so that the rest could play around while I was dealing with one of them.
I chose to start with Nyx, and the four Eevee curiously watched as they took care of her. The boys lost interest 12 minutes into the session and began to walk around the property.
I heard them call out nearly 10 minutes later, around the same time I was done with Nyx and we followed the two Eevee, who were walking towards their brothers.
We actually ended up walking toward the burial site of Sunny/Vileplume and Lono/Lombre. It looked like the sculptures I made and placed beside their tombstones drew the attention of the two Eevee. They called out because they wanted to ask what this was about.
Since I was already here, I decided to clean the surroundings and surface of the tombstone, before weeding the burial site and watering the flowers mom planted there. While I was doing that, I recounted Sunny and Lono's story to the Eevee, who were curiously listening to the tale.
They seemed to be impressed by the tale and paid their respects to the sculptures/graves before they began asking me to make sculptures of them as well after Nyx said that she and the others had sculptures of themselves made by yours truly.
I had everything necessary stored inside Utopia, so I did not mind doing that. I began the first sculpture right there, but I had to make the rest after dinner since mom called me over while I was finishing the first statue.
Once I finished the 3 other Eevee statues, Nyx asked me to make a bigger one with all 5 of them, and I agreed under the gaze of so many Baby-Doll Eyes.
