Dratini's status screen was about what I had expected.
'Species: Dratini
Gender: Male
Type: Dragon
Potential: Blue
Stage: Iron-stage (low)
Genetic variation: None
Abilities: Shed Skin, Marvel Scale
Talents: None
Affinities: Dragon'
I already knew that Dratini had 5-star potential, so I was somewhat prepared, but that his potential started straight at blue was pretty lucky. This meant that once he got his dose of Utopia his potential would definitely increase to Deep Blue and might even reach Light Purple.
Hmm, his potential immediately increasing this early would be really suspicious, especially if it reaches Light Purple, or 6-star if we used the alliance standard, so I think I was going to wait until he reached the (high) iron stage. That should take a few months even with the support of resources and the food I gave my parents.
I already had a batch of Pokefood I made beforehand for Dratini, or rather it was Pokefood for pure dragon types, which Dratini was. The food would have a great effect until Dratini reached the (mid) bronze stage, after that, I would need to use higher-class ingredients.
I began turning toward my parents to tell them I had prepared food for Dratini and that his potential was pretty good. However, while I was turning I suddenly got a great idea.
"I've bought a year's worth of Pokefood for Dratini from Mr. Tsukababishi. He said that it would have a great effect until the (mid) bronze stage, so no need to worry that it's going to go to waste. I also checked what kind of feeling he gives off and I believe his potential is pretty great. He's definitely at the upper range of the 5-star potential," I told them.
This way they won't be surprised regardless of how big the improvement is later on, so when Dratini ultimately reaches Light Purple or 6-star, they won't be as surprised.
"That's great, seems like we hit the jackpot with Dratini," mom said happily and dad nodded beside her.
"Yeah, that's great news indeed. Let's hand out everyone's breakfast and after that, you can hand over Dratini's food stock."
We began handing out the food to everyone before I began pulling out sealed food bag after food bag out of my Silph.Co bag and dad began storing them inside his bag of holding.
I let out nearly all my Pokemon, at least those not water-bound since those preferred staying inside Utopia due to the lack of large water bodies on our property. They did not count the small/medium-sized pond since it could not accommodate more than a few of them.
We let them mingle among themselves, telling them that they were free to do whatever they wanted, before moving to the porch. I asked them to tell me some more about the things they experienced while they were out doing missions, at least the non-confidential parts.
"There were a few noteworthy events. For example, a week after we left the last time, we noticed that something had happened to Roselia." Dad began and I interrupted him.
"Nothing bad, I hope?" I asked and he shook his head in denial. Before he could speak up, mom did.
"Not at all, in fact, I would call it wonderful," Mom assured me. "During training, Roselia put Star/Starmie to sleep without actively trying to."
"Really?" I asked surprised, happy that they had noticed her talent during a spar instead of a fight.
"Yes, we tested it out, and since it happened upon contact that's what we did, repeatedly. After a few rounds, we noted that she could not only put others to sleep, but she could still poison them, and paralyze them on top of that. Her Poison Point seemed to have somehow evolved. You wouldn't know anything about that, would you?" Dad clarified before posing his question.
"Interesting, I have heard about Pokemon having abilities beyond the standard ones their species possessed, but the ones I heard about are either inborn, gained during evolution, or gained during a breakthrough.
Gaining one randomly is a first, but you should know that much since you were there during one of the videos of professor Oak I watched on that topic." I decided to go full investigator on the situation.
"She didn't breakthrough recently, did she?" I asked committed to my role.
"Actually, she did. Roselia broke through to the (low) gold stage, two days before that happened." Mom spoke up, which surprised me since I had yet to check up on the rest of their Pokemon besides Dratini.
'Lucky,' was my primary thought when she said that, and I naturally capitalized on it.
"Hmm, that's probably when it happened. I'll have to congratulate you mom, seems like luck decided to side with you now. Maybe it had enough of dad and decided to defect to you." I joked and mom began laughing while dad moped a bit.
"Hahaha, really funny. You should be thanking me, I have so much good luck that it is overflowing and rubbing off to you." He countered, leaving mom and me speechless since we could not even refute him considering his past luck.
Seeing our speechless looks dad began to chuckle jovially, and seeing the satisfaction he got from the situation we had to laugh as well.
"Still, you're probably right and that's when it happened. I had come to a similar conclusion, ugh," he said before grunting in pain due to my mother elbowing him in the side.
"WE had come to a similar conclusion." He corrected and mom gave a satisfied nod.
"I'll see if I feel something different," I said before walking toward Roselia to check up on her status.
'Species: Roselia
Gender: Female
Type: Grass, Poison
Potential: Blue
Stage: Gold-stage (low)
Genetic variation: ? (None)
Abilities: ? (Natural Cure, Poison Point)
Talents: ? (Natural Point)
Affinities: ? (Grass, Poison)'
I managed to confirm that she had broken through to the gold stage, and due to that the four sections after stage had turned into question marks, but since I had seen the status before, the last visible content was displayed in brackets. However, if something had changed I would be unable to notice that, due to being unable to check the current situation.
After checking up on her I went around to check up on the others to see if something had changed with their stage or potential since that was pretty much all I could see for nearly all of them. Unfortunately, nothing had changed compared to the last time, so I walked back to the porch.
"Well, I've checked Roselia, and I noticed that her potential has improved. If I'm not wrong she should have a 5-star potential now, and she's not the only one. I checked everyone, and Tangela also gave off the feeling of 5-star potential, so it seemed like his potential improved as well." I told my parents what I had found out.
"Incredible!" Mom exclaimed while dad had a happy smile on his face.
"We'll bring them over to one of the test centers later on for an official test, but that's wonderful news," he informed me.
"Say, mom, dad, how does it look with evolution?" I inquired curiously since they currently had 3 Pokemon that could still evolve.
"Roselia is ready and could evolve at any time, as long as she comes in contact with a Shiny Stone. I'm on the lookout for a high-quality one, and as soon as I find one she'll evolve." Mom declared, and dad started after she finished.
"Tangela managed to fulfill the ancient energy quota, so he could evolve anytime as well. However, I asked him to delay his evolution for now, since there is the possibility of exchanging one of the useful materials on the list for him. He agreed, since delaying his evolution for a few months is not a problem, even if we should be unable to exchange for one.
I plan to get a trigger from the list for Vibra first to let her evolve to Rhyperior, and he accepted that she had waited longer than she had, so her priority has been acknowledged. Still, I'll just buy some supporting items elsewhere if I'm unable to get him something from the list." Dad explained and I had to nod.
What he said made sense, Vibra/Rhydon had indeed been ready for her evolution for a long time but had to wait due to being unable to find a suitable evolution trigger.
We began talking about the materials on the let's that could help the three with their evolution, and while doing that I began using my second thought process to think about my newcomer.
Specifically about the things I had prepared for it beforehand. Now, that I knew that his potential was Light Orange the ones I had prepared could not be used due to being too potent. They would only harm the egg, so I would need to prepare new stuff that was within the tolerance state of the egg.
Besides some poison and fire energy crystals I had also prepared a paste to apply to the egg using a lot of materials of both types. I would have to make another paste.
Thankfully I could still use the same material as long as they were of a lower class, which I had a lot of thanks to Utopia. Finding poison material that could be used for eggs was not easy after all.
We stayed outside for another two hours before going back inside to prepare lunch. I felt like pizza, so when mom asked what we should eat for lunch I had suggested it. I did not expect her to insist on making some herself. I thought we would order some, but here we were preparing the dough.
It took a few hours since we had to let the finalized dough sit for some time, but finished our self-made pizzas. Still, it ended up being more of a dinner than lunch but that was fine.
I kept to the original and made a Funghi/Champignon Pizza. Dad chose a Magikarp Pizza with onions, while mom went a bit too exotic for my taste. She made herself a Frutti De Mare, commonly known as seafood Pizza. Personally, I disliked the last one.
We made three trays of each pizza to hand out some to all our Pokemon as well and as expected of my Pokemon they preferred the Funghi Pizza.
After that little kitchen episode, we settled in the living room to watch some movies, before going to our rooms.
I took the egg and entered Utopia after looking at the door. Utopia went to work and created a small habitat with a nesting area for the egg. I placed the egg there, before arranging the materials helpful for its development around it.
Once the egg was secure, I moved towards my home and went to the workshop to prepare the new paste I needed for the egg. My parents told me that according to the care center the egg would hatch in 5 months, so I made enough paste for 3 months.
If I needed to make more of the same after that I would do so, but it was possible that I would need to create a new one. At least I hoped that I would need to do so.
I checked the clock and saw that it was 3 a.m already, which meant I had spent nearly 4 hours preparing the paste. Well, sacrificing some extra sleep was worth it to help our new family member.
I quickly made my way to the new nesting area to apply the paste to the egg. I would need to apply the paste to the egg once a day, and I was planning to do so during the mornings. Obviously, I was only going to do that after a polishing and care session, but for now, I just evenly smeared the paste on the egg before going to sleep.
