After a nice first day with my parents, the days until Dialday went by pretty fast with us just spending time as a family. The highlight of those days should be the talk where my parents confided to me that they were considering acquiring a new grass type for their team.
Moreover, they wanted to get a silver stage one right away, so that it was at least somewhat viable for the senior tournament next year. I was hoping they would bring me along if they were planning to get one outside of catching it themselves, which would not be as easy as Pokemon at and after the silver stage could not be bought just everywhere anymore.
Anyway, in half an hour, Rose along with her parents were going to arrive, and they were planning to stay till Grouday evening. So, right now, my mother was preparing breakfast for all of us in the kitchen and as her handsome, dutiful son I was naturally helping her.
Yes, being handsome was an important part that had to be mentioned in the situation. I was not cute, d*mn it, I was handsome. I helped her cut fruits and vegetables, mix the pancake batter, and put the finished pancakes as well as sausages on a plate.
We managed to finish everything on time and set the table, a few moments before the Fields rang the doorbell. I prepared myself for storm Rose, and as I expected she flew like a seeking missile towards me as soon as dad opened the door.
"Mika! I missed you," she said excitedly while rubbing her head into my belly.
I could only release a mental sigh at her antics since a real sigh would draw ire from the women in attendance. I patted her head a bit, which made her lean into it with a small giggle.
"I missed you too, Rose," I said before turning to her parents. "Welcome, Uncle Thorn, Aunt Lily." I greeted them as well.
I felt Rose pull my sleeve to get my attention.
"Ne, ne, Mika. Princess reached the bronze stage, you know." She said in a proud tone that screamed praise me.
I obliged her unspoken request with a new round of head pats.
"That's great. You can show her to me after breakfast." I told her, which was the cue for us to move to the dinner table for breakfast.
Well, after Rose took off her jacket and shoes, which she had dismissed in favor of jumping at me. I was listening to Rose talk about her school days with one ear while listening to our parents with the other. Parallel thinking for the win was perfect to describe my current thoughts.
They were talking about the latest tides, that had happened in the last few months in different parts of Kanto. Thankfully, they had all been smaller ones and none had happened close to any of us.
Still, aunt Lily asked me to tell them about the excursion, and that got Rose's full attention as well. I began heralding to them the events of the week spent in the wild, and while they were fully focused on my story a question popped up in my mind while looking at Rose.
Using my parallel thinking I began to mull over why the knight academy students looked like 16 or 17-year-olds when they were only 11 or 12 years old at most. I mean they had no aura as far as I knew, so that was not why most of them had gone through an early maturity like nearly all students from our third year.
Also, to think that I had not wondered about this when I saw it the first time was careless. I had gotten used to seeing third years having that look while in the aura academy, so when I saw the third-year knight academy students, I simply took it as normal that nearly all of them looked like that as well.
Still, after some good old logical reflection, the answer became pretty obvious. For us, our aura was the reason for our early maturity. Once life energy, also known as aura, reached a certain amount, early maturity got triggered.
For the knights, something similar had to happen. The tournaments had proven that many, if not most, knight students had trained their physical body to the equivalent of Tier 1 Second and even First-class.
Their Tier 1 physique meant that they had an (over) abundance of life force, similar to aura users, which triggered an early maturity for them as well. In short, they practically brute-forced their way to early maturity.
Mentally nodding at my exemplary deduction work, I returned my full focus to the others. Rose's eyes were glistening in excitement while she listened to my exploits during the "camp". She had cheered when I mentioned getting first place and Swablu.
I had to promise her to show her Swablu before I could continue. My win in the mixed tournament got cheers as well and when I told them about getting second place during the treasure hunting, Rose blamed bad luck and Yu for me not getting first place.
All adults were smiling softly at her attempt to "console" me. Due to my story breakfast took a bit longer than normal, but it still ended. While our mothers were clearing up the table Rose dragged me outside.
"Come on Mika, take out Swablu. I want to see her," Rose urged me and I complied with her wish.
I called out Swablu which promptly resulted in a squeal of delight on Rose's part. Swablu quickly went to her favorite resting spot, which happened to be on top of my head, after she took stock of her surroundings.
"She's so cute and fluffy. Can I hug her?" She said with fervor and I could see that she was having a hard time not just grabbing Swablu in a hug.
Still, Rose knew that she could not suddenly hug Swablu without being properly introduced or she would get attacked due to being a stranger. That was a general rule of thumb for nearly all species, well except for some fairy types and some others, but those were the exception, not the rule.
"Swablu, this is my good friend Rose. Can she hug you?" I did the introduction, before posing the question in Rose's stead.
Swablu nodded her head, which was always a bit funny since the Swablu line just like the Natu line appeared like a giant head with wings.
Getting the go-ahead Rose rushed up to me and had me bend down so that she could hug Swablu. Rose began fussing over Swablu gushing over her wings and cuteness.
Meanwhile, our parents came out and observed the event with fondness. They left her be for a while before they decided enough is enough after over 10 minutes.
"Alright, that's enough for now, honey. We plan to go to the "Knight's Journey", I'm sure you'll like it. They have princess castles and knights riding to battle." Aunt Lily said to Rose, who reluctantly let go of Swablu.
I returned Swablu to her ball after thanking her for her sacrifice and we went to the knight-themed amusement park I visited with my parents during the last holidays.
Everyone had a lot of fun, especially Rose who roleplayed as a princess while treating me as her knight. We ate dinner at one of the restaurants there. Some roasted stuff with mashed potatoes and berry juice to keep to the theme.
The next two days passed by quickly in such a vein as well, with us going out to visit parks and shops in Rota. Rose did show me her Pokemon, but except for her Vulpix reaching the (low) bronze stage, I saw no other differences.
Still, after spending two, nearly three days with Swablu she began "asking" her parents for a Swablu of her own using all weapons available to her. Glistening eyes, hopeful looks, and pouts, no option was left out.
My parents and I would not want to be in their position since Swablu were really hard to get especially in Kanto where they are practically non-existent inside the route system.
Anyway, two weeks after that the holidays were over and my parents resumed their journey while I returned to the academy. I fell back into my routine of going to the Academy, training myself and my Pokemon while occasionally hanging out with friends or talking to them over the phone.
Oh, and I obviously aced all exams. Anyway, that went on for two months until something major happened. Kun/Remoraid finally broke through to the silver stage.

He joined the others in the silver club and raised his potential to light purple. Since I started going to the academy Kun had finished learning Hyper Beam and raised it to beginner mastery.
After that, he learned Rain Dance, which had become a staple move of all my water types, and brought it up to proficiency. Then he raised Thunder Wave to proficiency as well since it paired so well with Rain Dance, and right now he was trying to learn Flamethrower.
As for his resistance training, we felt it wouldn't take much longer for it to be successful and we had no plans to let him evolve before it happened. Not that he was ready for his evolution yet, no that would only happen after he reached the (high) silver stage.
However, the reason he would wait, either way, was that it was easier to reduce a minor weakness to a standard one than it was to reduce a major weakness to a minor one.
So, by finishing the resistance training, his relation to the electric type after he gained the flying type due to his evolution would be that of a minor weakness, not a major one.
Anyway, all in all, I felt that he did pretty well during this time. A week and a half after his breakthrough our bond increased to strong. Now, my parents only stayed over thrice during that time.
They were apparently going around challenging the other Gyms and Major Gyms as training. They had yet to challenge the Gym Leaders to a no holds barred fight, but dad was considering it.
The one and a half months that followed our bond increase went by in a similar routine fashion. Right until Moka broke through to the silver stage as well, and her potential increased to purple.
We decided to wait with her evolution until our bond got upgraded to strong, which took two more weeks. However, once it happened Moka went through her evolution, which improved her potential a bit more due to the supplements I used.

Now, unlike her time as a Golbat, Moka had a difference compared to regular Crobat besides her larger size. She had a white fluff going around her "neck" above her upper wings, kinda like a scarf. Other than that her royal gene seemed to make no difference visually.
Well, she had finished learning Poisonous Leech and raised it to beginner mastery a bit more than a month ago. Afterward, she focused on Air Slash and brought it up to advanced mastery.
That along with whatever epiphany she seemed to have gotten during her evolution raised her air manipulation to proficient. Oh, and she seemingly learned Cross Poison as well.
There was only a week until the term exams began, so two weeks until the holidays once more came around. My parents told me during their last visit that we were going to participate in a big auction that was going to happen during the second week of the holidays.
They planned to see if they could find a good grass type there and I couldn't wait for it to happen. This was going to be my first big auction and I was curious how it was going to go down. There were so many cliches concerning auctions that I was curious if any of them would actually come to pass.
