Chapter 141 - CH10 (140), What Happened/Water Squad (4)

Now, let's go from grass to poison. I mentioned how Medusa gained her sapience during the sapience chain event that began for my Magikarp about 2 weeks after I caught Abzu and Tiamat.

She was happy with her name, so it remained the same. The next important point was the changes caused by her evolution. Medusa, like Jade, was also a bit shorter than Ryujin at 12.5 meters, but she was a little longer than Jade's 12 meters.

Her girth and diameter though were about the same size, roughly 160 cms, and 50 cms respectively. The bigger change started from here for her as well.

The back part of her scales was purple, the shade was close to that of an Arbok. Her belly part as well as the row of spots on the back were blue, like the one of a Toxicroak.

Medusa's barbels were a bit shorter than the ones of a regular Gyarados. The crest on her head stayed three-pointed. However, the tips were pointy and a bit longer as well.

The white fins on each side of a Gyarados and the ones on its back as well as tail were light purple like the head of Venomoth. Overall, she looked good as well.

She gained Intimidate and kept Poison Touch ability-wise. I mentioned our strong bond, and I said that she was currently at the (high) silver stage, but like the other type variants she also had a different base value distribution.

It seemed that for poison variants the strength and energy capacity value got swapped just like it did for the grass variant. After that, a bit of it got handed to vitality just enough to elevate it by a grade. Another but was shifted to endurance to bolster it, but not enough to increase its grade.

Nonetheless, these shifts were not enough to reduce energy capacity's new grade. Additionally, it seemed that a bit of the agility value got distributed to the energy density, just enough to raise its grade.

This led to Medusa starting with a C in vitality, energy capacity, and energy density. Meanwhile, her strength began at an E. Currently, her vitality, energy capacity, and energy density parameters were B's, with the rest being C's.

This theoretically made her the best one among my Gyarados parameter-wise, since everyone else only had two B's. Yet, she wasn't the strongest, and I was the only one that knew their actual parameter values anyway.

Now, let's not forget her potential. That one got increased from blue, bordering deep blue, to light purple nearing 80%.

Like with everyone else the bonus from her limit breaking, together with the bonuses from the stuff I prepared for her evolution and the supplements I gave her in general were responsible for that.

Unfortunately, the fact that potential increases provided by my supplement drastically decreased after reaching any shade of purple remained true for her and all other Gyarados as well.

Hmm, I went over sapience, name, evolution, looks, stage, parameters, potential, and that our bond turned strong was mentioned at the start. Ah! I know, her Quirk had been making me a bit worried with it being vengeful no matter how slight.

So, I went all Jedi *ahem* Aura Guardian on her, and through a lot of subtle talks, I managed to guide her like one would guide and teach a child. This thankfully turned her Quirk from slightly vengeful to kinda biased, which was a decent improvement, at least in my humble opinion.

I mean going from "I will remember this" in a slightly negative tone to "I'm sure I'm right" was pretty good, right? Anyway, I successfully helped her become more chill which deserves a mention. Oh, and she was going to turn 6 in a few months.

I am going to throw her a private party inside Utopia like I did for all my Pokemon. With the number of main members I had that turned into a pretty high number of parties per year. I was wondering how high that one was going to get in the future.

Anyway, the type relations remained the same as they had been when she was a poison-type variant Magikarp, which honestly was still unreal. The number of resistances she had, I mean. She has 8 resistances and while they were "only" minor, that was still impressive.

Among her three weaknesses, we chose electric for her resistance training but it was still an ongoing project and with this, we were once again left with only the masteries and moves.

Medusa like the others also gained a corresponding mastery for her second typing, but she only managed to raise it to beginner mastery since then.

That was mostly because she only knew 2 poison-type moves for now since we had other priorities as well. However, she was naturally going to learn some more in the future.

Her master over her water energy had improved to advanced, just like it had for the rest of her kin and obviously for the same reasons as well.

The moves she learned were Acid, then Sludge Wave instead of Hurricane, Thrash remained the same, and finally Dark Pulse instead of Thunder so that she had something long-range against psychic types.

Acid being a liquid and her high water mastery helped her get down the move pretty fast. She just had to add poison energy into the water and adjust its effect and strength until she got it down.

Acid was trained until she became proficient with it, and after that, she began learning Sludge Wave. Acid and the principle she used to learn it was useful for learning this one as well since it was basically a wave of strong poison.

It was a good wide area targeting move, so she brought that one up to proficiency as well. After that came Thrash and just like with the rest of her group, it was more like an "in case it becomes necessary" move, so it stayed at novice mastery.

The last one she learned with the help of Aby since Aby had already learned Dark Pulse by the time Medusa started. Medusa raised it to beginner mastery before stopping to take a short break.

The next move on her list was also Hyper Beam since I couldn't think of an alternate poison move that was roughly/nearly as strong as it. That was about it for Medusa and next up was Ignis.

His sapience gain obviously also happened during the sapience chain that began for my Magikarp. He was satisfied with his name, so it remained the same.

About his look, well, Ignis was a bit longer than even Stan at 14.5 meters. However, his girth was the same at around 190 cms with his diameter being about 60 cm.

He like the other variants looked different than a regular Gyarados. The back part of his scales was red like that of a Volcanion. While his belly as well as the row of spots on his back were light blue, close to the shade of a Vaporeon.

Ignis's barbels were near twice the size of regular ones, and just like it happened with Jade the crest on his head went from a three-pointed one to a two-pointed one. Furthermore, they were much longer, and kind of resembled branches a bit while somehow still not really doing so.

Anyway, the white fins on each side of a Gyarados were like those on Ryujin, they turned beardish. They and the ones on its back as well as tail were also a bit wavy and their color changed to a golden yellow. I think the shade of Hypno's yellow came close to it. Overall, he looked awesome as well.

Ability-wise Swift Swim turned to Intimidate. White Smoke remained the same. Our bond naturally turned strong and just like Medusa he had a different base value distribution as well.

It looked like fire types had a higher grade energy capacity as well, but they went about gaining it completely differently compared to poison or grass variants.

The value necessary to increase the energy capacity twice was simply shifted from all across the board. This was done in such a way that ensured that all parameters remained in the same grade. However, no one was spared and had to contribute a bit.

This meant that upon breaking through to the silver stage Ignis's strength and energy capacity began with C's, while the rest started with D's. Since then he had raised each parameter once and was at the (high) silver stage.

Like with everyone else the bonus from his limit breaking, together with the bonuses from the stuff I prepared for his evolution and the supplements I gave him in general raised his potential to light purple.

Unfortunately, the drastically decreased effectiveness of supplements towards his potential applied to him too.

Hmm, I went over sapience, name, evolution, looks, stage, parameters, potential, and bond. Yeah, his Quirk had been a slightly problematic one as well, being impulsive could be dangerous after all.

He got some guidance just like Medusa and this thankfully turned his Quirk into a less risky one. Being passionate was not a bad thing after all as long as one did not go too far. On a side note, he was going to turn 5 a few weeks before Medusa's birthday.

Anyway, the type relations remained the same as they had been when he was a fire-type variant Magikarp. Among his three weaknesses, electric was chosen for his resistance training as well. It was an ongoing project in his case too.

Masteries and moves we meet again.

Ignis also gained a corresponding mastery for his second typing, and he managed to raise it to proficiency since then. That was mostly because all moves I chose for him after Dragon Dance were fire types.

Oh, and his mastery over his water energy had improved to advanced just like it had for the others. Now, let me begin the move part by mentioning that Ignis was the only one that had raised Scald to advanced mastery.

Anyway, the moves he learned were Flamethrower instead of Hurricane, Flare Blitz instead of Thrash, and finally Heat Wave instead of Thunder. The Flamethrower was trained to proficiency, Flare Blitz just got learned, and Heat Wave was brought to beginner mastery.

Instead of Hyper Beam, I was planning on having him learn Fire Blast and with that tidbit, we were finally at the last of my Gyarados, Aby. She gained her sapience like everyone else during the sapience chain.

She had no problem with Aby but wanted a slightly more serious one when names came up. I told her her name was Abyss and that Aby was just the short form and she was cool with it.

So, the name remained the same, and Abyss only got used during serious occasions, which hasn't happened yet. Just like with everyone else the changes caused by her evolution were up next.

Aby, like the other females, was also a bit shorter than the males, but she was the longest among the females at 13 meters. This meant she was only a bit behind Ryujin's 13.5 meters. Her girth and diameter however were about the same size, roughly 160 cm, and 50 cm respectively.

This made me wonder if the differences in sizes of both the females and the males were only because of their different types. I mean I knew that they were all longer than the average Gyarados because of all the training they did, the nourishment and supplements I provided.

Nonetheless, I was curious if the reason between size differences was individual or if grass type Gyarados really were just shorter than the others by default.

That would be a good topic to look into in the future when I was bored, so I made a mental note on it. Anyway, like always the bigger changes started from here for her too.

The back part of her scales was Umbreon black yeah I just turned that one into an official color name. Her belly part as well as the row of spots on the back were dark blue, like really dark. The shade resembled the one on a Mantine's back.

Aby's barbels were a bit shorter than the regular ones. The crest on her head stayed three-pointed, but the tips looked jagged and slightly longer as well.

The white fins on each side of a Gyarados and the ones on its back as well as tail looked mostly the same, they just seemed a bit more share/jagged and were grey like the one on Mightyena. Overall, she looked good as well.

Ability-wise Swift Swim turned to Intimidate for her too. Infiltrate remained the same. Our bond naturally turned strong and just like with the other variants she had a different base value distribution as well.

The agility and energy capacity value got raised by a grade, by shifting the needed value points from vitality, strength, and energy density, without compromising their grade.

This meant that upon breaking through to the silver stage her strength and agility began with C's, while the rest started with D's. Since then she had raised each parameter once and was at the (high) silver stage.

Like with everyone else the bonus from her limit breaking, together with the bonuses from the stuff I prepared for her evolution and the supplements I gave her in general raised her potential to light purple, and the reduced effectiveness of supplements applied to her as well.

Hmm, I went over sapience, name, evolution, looks, stage, parameters, potential, bond, and her Quirk thankfully had no problems. Her birthday was a bit less than half a year away, so I wouldn't have to throw too many parties close to each other thankfully.

Anyway, the type relations remained the same as they had been when she was a dark-type variant Magikarp. She like Medusa was also an impressive example concerning the number of resistances, she had 6.

Moreover, she had immunity to psychic types as well. Unfortunately, she also had quite a list of weaknesses and among her 5 weaknesses, electric was chosen for her first of many rounds of resistance training.

It was an ongoing project in her case too, which once again left us with the masteries and moves.

Aby also gained a corresponding mastery for her second typing, but she only managed to raise it to beginner mastery since then. That was mostly because she trained 2 dark-type moves.

Oh, and her mastery over her water energy had improved to advanced just like it had for the others. Now, let me begin her move part by mentioning that she had 3 dark-type moves before we began learning new ones.

Among them, Fake Tears, as well as Bite, got ignored while Crunch was raised to advanced mastery and she was the only one among them that did it.

Anyway, the moves she learned were Dark Pulse instead of Hurricane, Thrash remained the same, and finally Flamethrower instead of Thunder. We really focused on Dark Pulse, and it was trained to advanced mastery since we felt she needed it as a dark type.

Thrash just got learned and then ignored, and Flamethrower was brought to beginner mastery. We chose Flamethrower because it was useful against a majority of her weaknesses type-wise.

Since learning Flamethrower was still a bit easier to learn than Thunder, she just finished a bit more than a week after the others despite focusing on Dark Pulse.

Also instead of Hyper Beam, I was planning on having her learn Iron Tail to target the ones that Flamethrower didn't and with that, we were finally done.

Now, I was only missing the newbies. Who to start with? Hmmmmm.

*knock* *knock*

He got startled from his musing by knocks.

"Honey, could you come down again, please? Your dad and I want to talk about your housing in Rota." She said after entering a few moments after knocking.

"Sure. I'll come down." I replied and stood up to walk downstairs with her.
