'Oh, wow!' I was impressed. Her status screen was really impressive, much better than I had expected. Well, I already knew her potential was light blue, so there's that. She had 3 abilities, but I already knew that Flying-types, or more like the bird-like Pokemon, had Keen Eye as a bonus/racial? ability, so I had expected that.
What I had apparently ignored/overlooked while choosing her was that she had a talent. Seems like I focused too much on her potential, I have to make sure something like that doesn't happen again. Anyway, her talent made sure that she stayed calm and composed no matter how stressful or bad the situation was.
In my opinion, this was a great talent to have, just about there with Combat Instinct, even if it was slightly worse. As a result of her talent, her quirk was calm, which made sense. Her weaknesses and resistances were pretty standard.
The points that really impressed me were her parameters and moves. She had trained half of her parameters to the A-value, and I was pretty sure that she was planning to do that to the rest of them as well. Who knows, with her talent and quirk, I would believe it if she said that she was planning to break her limits.
As for her moves, except for Agility and Wing Attack that were most likely newer additions, all her moves were trained until proficient mastery. Her age showed that she was more than 3 years old, and from her status, I could see that she did the best she could to use that time to the fullest.
Seeing her status, I was pretty sure that she would have someday become a powerhouse on her own if she survived long enough. Yet, now that she was mine, she would have a smoother path reaching that point. Once introductions were out of the way I relocated her into my space.
She received her own habitat, and her potential was increased to blue (66.90%). After confirming that everything went okay, I made my way downstairs for breakfast. While I was going down, I remembered that I wanted to mention Smeargle to my parents. Since today was Arcday, my father was at work, so only my mother was at home.
I shrugged at that. Either mom would call him and tell him about it, or he would find out when he came home. I was just happy that I had activated the preservation mode on the ball, or Smeargle would have gone without food for nearly 3 days.
Thankfully, I had decided on using the stasis mode for all Pokemon that I had caught but not really wanted, or that could have ended badly. Anyway, after I sat down at the table I addressed my mother.
"Mom, I forgot to tell you and dad about something I did on Palkiday." I began. "What is it, honey? It's nothing bad, is it?" She asked in a slightly concerned tone.
"No, it's nothing bad or anything. It's just that I encountered a Smeargle that day, and I remembered hearing that those were pretty valuable, so I caught it. Yet, I forgot about it later on, because I was not really interested in it." I told her, and she gained an incredulous look on her face when she heard my explanation.
"Really?" She asked a bit in disbelief, and I nodded. "Yeah, I suddenly remembered it last night. So, I decided to tell you about it today." I added, and she started to look concerned about something.
"It's been more than 3 days since you caught it, and you forgot about it until now. Doesn't that mean the poor thing is starving right now?" She asked sounding a bit disappointed, at least she sounded like that to me.
"No, fortunately, I activated the stasis mode on the Common Ball, after I caught it. So there's nothing wrong, hopefully." I told her while whispering the last part. "Good." She said with relief before she continued sternly.
"I still hope that something like this does not happen, young man. Once we catch a Pokemon we are responsible for them, so don't go around forgetting them again, alright?" She started out sternly but got softer towards the end.
"Un, I promise" was all I could say in this situation because I knew that what I did was kind of irresponsible. The forgetting part, not the stasis one, that one was brilliant.
Nonetheless, after doing her required soft scolding, she put on a smile and hugged me. "Still, you did a good job catching it. Smeargle are worth pretty large sums regardless of their potential. So, even if it has bad potential, it will still sell for much money." She praised me, and I smiled at her.
After a bit, we separated, and I casually took out Smeargle's ball. I gave her the ball and started eating my breakfast. My mother just chuckled at my nonchalance, before she joined me. Once I was done with breakfast I hugged my mother and had Xatu Teleport me to our latest spot.
A bit less than 15 minutes later we arrived at the pace, and I called out Nyx. After that, we were once more on the way to Dew City. There were still around 120 km to the place, but I was positive I could visit the city sometime on Giratiday, which was the day after tomorrow. I kept walking until lunch, and during that time I saw a few of the usual Pokemon.
So, Pidgey, Rattata, Spearow, Sentret, and Zigzagoon, but none were good enough for me to catch. Still, I had Weedle, Teddiursa, and Pidgey battle a few of them. None of them had any problems beating their opponent, but it was still battle experience, so that was good.
I also saw a Pidgeotto and a Raticate, but Nyx beat them soundly. We naturally met some trainers as well, but I only agreed to 3 battles. Neither of the trainers had any uncommon Pokemon, and I used Nyx, Xatu, Seb to win those battles.
Anyway, once lunchtime came around, I had Xatu bring me to Viridian City. I had to call Rose and planned to call Aaron as well, so I had to come here for lunch. So, after eating some Crispy Strips at "Flying Choice", since I couldn't always eat Italian, I went to a telephone booth and called Rose.
She told me that she started training as well with the supervision of her parents, and some other stuff that she did during the week. After ending my weekly talk with Rose, I changed booths and called Aaron.
I was surprised to hear that he was still camping in Viridian Forest, despite catching a Heracross on Dialday last week. Apparently, he had found some Farfetch'd tracks after my call, but simply ignored them, since he had no interest in the regular Farfetch'd.
Yet, he actually found traces of a Sirfetch'd on Palkiday while looking for a Heracross. What actually happened was that he followed some Heracross tracks to an area where a battle took place recently.
At first, he thought the Heracross briefly fought against a Farfetch'd, since the footprint of the two were pretty similar, but after checking the surrounding area he found traces that fit neither Heracross nor Farfetch'd.
So, he started to check the area thoroughly and found a white feather, that together with the traces led him to the conclusion that it had been a Sirfetch'd that battled the Heracross instead. This naturally made more sense than a Farfetch'd fighting a Heracross.
Anyway, since Sirfetch'd were pretty strong fighting types, and he had actually found traces of one, he obviously added it to his capture list. His plan was to either capture the Sirfetch'd or a galarian Farfetch'd since he did not believe that the Sirfetch'd was the only one around, at least he hoped not.
So, even after Aaron managed to catch a Heracross on Dialday, which was the day after, he decided to stay in Viridian Forest for a bit longer. He told me he had actually found some normal Farfetch'd during the last two days, but none of the ones he was searching for.
I was pretty surprised that there were actually galarian Farfetch'd and Sirfetch'd in Viridian Forest and made a mental note for myself before I wished him luck in his endeavors. After our call, I briefly wondered about the luck of some people, before I called out Xatu and returned to my last point.
I kept walking along Route 3 and for the next 2 hours, I saw nothing besides the usual, except for another Raticate as well as a Fearow that I beat with Nyx. However, after that, I actually saw a few Mareep leisurely eating some grass. I naturally checked their status, since I actually wanted to have a Mareep, but unfortunately, none had good potential.
I was going to keep walking, but Nyx apparently had other ideas, because she walked towards the small herd of Mareep. Just as I was going to warn her to leave them alone, I saw her ignoring them. Instead, she was focusing on the grass they were eating.
She looked a bit confused as if something was off with the grass, but she had no idea what. So, being the handsome, intelligent, and observant individual I was, I walked up to her and checked out the grass myself.
'Name: Static Grass (Clump/Bundle)
Type: Electric
Class: F
Uses: Grass that sometimes grows after some grass survives in an area where lightning has struck. It can absorb electric energy from the environment and static energy. Contains minuscule amounts of high-quality electric energy. Can be used as a supplement for electric-type Pokemon.'
No wonder the Mareep were staying around this area. I took a bundle of grass for myself since this thing would be useful. It turned out that the Static Grass was like the Silver Powder, you needed a certain amount before it registered as an item. In this case a bundle/clump of 30 blades of grass.
Anyway, I praised Nyx for a few minutes for her find, since I would have ignored them without her. I checked out the area for a bit more, just to make sure I did not overlook anything. I came up empty and continued my walk until 20 minutes before dinner.
During that time I fought two trainers and won. I also saw another Fearow, but it flew away before I could challenge it. Furthermore, I saw a small pack of Poochyena, that I tried scanning from a distance to avoid provoking them unnecessarily.
Well, I forgot to consider that my telekinesis won't work on dark types. So, I had to approach them and get in contact with them to check their status. When I tried to do that, they got alert, and after I came a bit closer, they turned around and ran.
I also saw a few Taillow, but none of the ones I checked had good enough potential. Other than that nothing out of the ordinary happened, and I had Xatu bring me home for dinner. I managed to cover about 50 km today, which was an alright amount.
While we were eating my father was praising me for capturing the Smeargle. According to him, even 1-star Smeargle could be sold for up to 1.500.000 Poke. So, he was going to check its potential during the weekend, and depending on the result, he would search for a buyer. I simply nodded at him and accepted the praise.
During Mewday, which was the next day, I covered 60 km, which left me with only 10 more until Dew City. While walking I saw the usual Pidgey, Rattata, Spearow, Sentret, and Zigzagoon. In addition to that, I also saw a few Taillow, a group of 3 Snubbull, and even two Wingull.
On top of that, I seemed to have been really lucky or unlucky, depending on who you ask because I also met 2 Furret, 1 Linoone, and 2 Swellow. I was actually considering if I should catch one of the Swellow for my mother, but none of the Pokemon I met that day had any good potential.
The best one was a yellow potential Furret, which was not good enough as well. So, I could only battle against them for the battle experience, but they were not useful otherwise. Anyway, thanks to the 60 km I covered that day, I only needed to walk for another 10 km tomorrow, before reaching Dew City, which was the penultimate milestone on my trip to the coast.
