Chapter 791 - CH171 (785), That’s A Lot Of New Pokemon (4)

I began to skip ahead again after the Dudunsparce entry, but it did not take long before I had to pause once more to take a second look at the Pokemon depicted in the picture of Entry 193. The entry came after that of Girafarig and was undoubtedly on an evolution of it that seemed to be called Farigiraf. The resemblance was uncanny even if Farigiraf actually looked like a giraffe instead of a horse. Oh, it also kept the normal/psychic type that Girafarig has.

Anyway, I had to admit that I actually liked how it looked especially how the tail part of Girafarig had fused with Farigirafs enlonged neck and how the tail end/head had become something like a hoody cap. The dark brown of its neck and the orange of its main body also fit very well, and I had to say that it looked very nice. Moreover, just like with Dudunsparce, I was pretty sure that Farigiraf had become pretty strong RV/BS-wise as well for the same reason too, though I was getting the feeling that Paldea seemed to have quite a few "unknown" evolutions for old/known Pokemon.

I was definitely happy with that, and there was no doubt that I would be looking into the method to help Girafarig evolve as well so that I could release it. Well, unless a miracle happened that led to Paldea and the alliance reconnecting before I could do so. Either way, I chose to move on, and then directly began "skipping" when I saw that the next entry was on Grimer, though I had to stop when I saw that an entirely new Pokemon showed up right after Muk. I honestly was not sure what to think of the dog Pokemon called Maschiff because for some reason I got the urge to punch it in the face when I saw its picture.

I was not sure if it was because of the pose of the Maschiff in the picture, or the combination of its pose, its face, and the blonde hair it sported, but somehow I felt a tad provoked by the pure dark-type doggo. Shaking my head at that, I moved on to the next entry which showed Maschiff's evolution Mabosstiff. While I would not say that Mabosstiff looked beautiful or anything like that, the Mabostiff in the picture at least looked good enough, giving a calm wise leader kind of vibe, and more importantly did not provoke me like its prevolution somehow managed to do.

Regardless, I swiftly chose to move on and began to skip again. I once more had to stop after just a few skips when Entry 202 revealed yet another new Pokemon, though I was not sure what Shroodle was supposed to be. It was listed as a poison/normal type, and it did look kind of cute if one squinted a bit, but I decided to just move on to the next entry, which had me goggling a bit since I had a hard time wrapping my head around Shroodle turning this Grafaiai upon evolving. The resemblance was there which made me so sure that the two were related, but the jump from small ball-shaped quadruped to small monkey-looking Grafaiai was a bit much, so after confirming that it kept the poison/normal typing I just moved on.

This time it was 20 entries later at Entry number 223 that I came upon something "new", though it was a Paldean variant instead of a new Pokemon, and what a variant it was. The entry had not only one picture of Paldean Tauros but three since apparently, Paldean Tauros had three common variants, with two of those obviously being variants of the first one. The first Paldean Tauros was noted as the combat breed and was a pure fighting type. This one was what I suspected to be the original variant, which later on got two more variants based on it. The Combat Breed Paldean Tauros looked like a bulkier regular Tauros that had grey fur instead of light brown and a black mane instead of dark brown. Another difference was that its horns were not curved but rather grew out straight and were more rounded at the tip instead of being pointed.

The second variant, or the first variant of the Combat Breed, was noted as the Blaze Breed Tauros, and as one could deduce from the name, it had a fighting/fire typing. The Blaze Tauros had the same body build and coloring as the Combat breed, though there were a few differences. Its three tails were intertwined, it had red streaks in its mane, and it had sharp horns that first pointed forward and then bent at right angles. The third variant, or the second variant of the Combat Breed, was listed as Aqua Breed Tauros, and it had a fighting/water typing.

It was interesting to see that the two variants that developed from the Combat Breed ended up having opposite secondary typings. Still, their typing was not the only difference. Like the Blaze Breed, the Aqua Breed had the same body type and coloring as the Combat Breed, with two differences compared to the Blaze's three. The first difference was the blue teardrop shapes that could be seen in the chest area of its mane, and the second difference was its horns. Those looked as if someone had squished the horn, causing 3 bulges behind the short point that bent at a right angle. It honestly looked like the horns would stretch out if whatever was pressuring them let go.

Still, that did not change the fact that it and the other two variants looked awesome, and I was honestly disappointed that we did not have any Paldean Tauros available within Alliance territory. I was pretty sure that they would be very popular with the trainer population, much more so than the regular Tauros since despite being pretty strong Pokemon and decent to good battlers, they were more popular as farm Pokemon. Paldean Tauros' additional title as Combat Breed was pretty apt from the impression the picture gave me, and that got passed on to the other two variants as well.

Anyway, after taking a final look at the Tauros and deciding that I would definitely add a bunch of them to Utopia if possible, I once more began to go through the entries. This time I had to go through 19 entries before I came upon a new Pokemon species, or rather it would have been new if I had not been told about them by Golurk and the other platinum ghosts. Entry number 242 was on Bramblin, and the picture of it was pretty close to what I had imagined from Golurk's description. Brambleghast's picture also showed something close to what I visualized from Golurk's description and after seeing their real looks, I still had to say that they looked pretty meh just like I had expected. Nonetheless, they were grass/ghost types, and as ghosts, it was not surprising that they looked questionable.

I resumed leafing through the entries and actually felt a twitch at the corner of my right eye when I came face to face with a picture of none other than Toedscool. After looking at the following entry to make sure that I was not looking at a mere look-alike, I saw that it was indeed on Toedscruel. Well, there was no denying it, it seemed that the Toeds-line originated from Paldea, which had me wondering how the egg that according to Toedscruel got washed onto the shore of Kanto managed to reach that place in the first place if none of the people of Pladea managed succeeded in doing so. That truly had to be a miracle of life, and I was curious about what I would find once I started to compare the findings we made at Oak Labs with the ones the natives/paldeans made, though that would have to wait until I was done with the index as well.

After ignoring that I might have been able to find out about Paldea earlier if I had dug deeper into the super library instead of making assumptions, I moved on to the next index entry, which happened to be on Tropius, so I swiftly passed over it. I repeated that until Entry number 249 since that one ended up being on yet another "undiscovered" Pokemon species. Klawf looked like an orange 8-limbed crab with a cream underbelly that had black bristles on its joints and inside what looked like nostrils located between its eyes. It actually sported pink blush on what counted as its cheeks which gave its look a funny note since it clashed with what looked like its nose hair.

Still, the surprising bit was that Klawf was actually listed as a pure rock-type Pokemon instead of a water type or at least a partial water type as one, myself included, would expect. Nonetheless, everything was possible when it came to Pokemon, so I just accepted it as it was and moved on to the next entry, which actually happened to be on another new Pokemon species. Capsakid was a little green humanoid that had a white six-rimmed cap on its round head and an orange upper lip with a single big tooth. I noticed that the things I thought were its arms was actually a 3-leaved collar, or maybe a 4-leaved one if it had a leaf on its backside since I couldn't make that out in the picture.

Nonetheless, even if Capsakid had no arms, it still looked decent enough, and I opened the next entry, curious how the little pure grass-type's evolution was going to look like. When I saw the actual picture I was rather shocked since it looked nothing like I had imagined. Scovillian had a solid lower as well as upper body, which had gained a pair of arms, that was not too far off from what I had expected, but anything above the neck/shoulder level was totally different from what I had thought up. Scovillian had two stems or stem-like throats growing from its neck, with each of the stems ending in a round/bell pepper-like head. The right head was red and looked quite angry, while the left head was green and looked somewhat impish rather than angry.

All in all, Scovillian looked like a Pokemon that you wouldn't want to mess with and it actually looked like it would be one of the harder Pokemon to deal with if one trained a Scovillian, especially since it looked like it might have some slight anger issues. Still, more interesting than the fact that Scovillian was one of the few multi-headed Pokemon was that it was listed as a grass/fire type since that made it the first common grass/fire type species that I knew of. Yet, despite that I had to admit that aside from a mild scientific curiosity I had no interest in adding the species/line to my team or Utopia for some reason, though I was suspecting that it had something to do with the personal problem I had previously uncovered.

Anyway, I opened the following entry, which happened to be on Cacnea, so I skipped directly past the next/Cacturne one before I had to stop again since Entry 254 showcased another new Pokemon species, though the Pokemon in question or more like in the picture looked like a literal dung-beetle/bug. The picture showed a beetle-like bug doing a handstand and rolling a brown ball using its feet. I really had the urge to face-palm when I saw that, but I ultimately just shook my head, mentally reciting that Pokemon could literally look like/be anything.

After that bit of self-hypnosis, I confirmed that Rellor was a pure bug-type Pokemon before moving on to the next entry, not sure what to expect from what was most likely going to be Rellor's evolution. Unless of course, Rellor ended up having no evolution, though I somehow doubted that was the case. I was pleasantly surprised since while Rabsca was definitely Rellor's evolution, it looked much better than what I expected.

The picture showed a teal, metallic, beetle-like Pokémon with a red face, and a diamond-shaped nose, as well as a white four-pointed star on its forehead. It also had long, prominent white hairs that extended past its body, resembling eyebrows and a mustache. Moreover, it was floating/levitating in the air, though it was still doing that in an upside-down/handstand position while holding a double-layer ball with its feet. The ball was reddish pink with purple cloud-like masses surrounding it and a smaller red ball in its center. This alone was enough to make anyone connect Rabsca to Rellor. Still, a much better look was not the only difference between the two since Rabsca was listed as a bug/psychic type, which explained why the Rabsca in the picture could float/levitate.
