Chapter 602 - CH75 (597), Disaster Relief (5)

After mingling with the Spinda Quartet as well as everyone else for a bit, I told them that it was time to get the show rolling, and had them give Fortuna/Togetic their best wishes before shooing them away so that I could start her on the supplements I had prepared for this moment. I gave her a final hug before I began to pull out all the supplements, and there was no doubt that I had invested a lot of effort, time, and money in these supplements.

In fact, I actually went to Rota for some of the ingredients. Mr. Cameron helped me revisit the Togepi Sanctuary, where I requested, some would say pleaded, the sanctuary leader, a palladium stage Togekiss to exchange one of her feathers along with a few drops of her blood for Fortuna's upcoming evolution. I also asked for a feather each from her parents, who apparently were dark gold stage Togekiss, and they were happy to help.

Thankfully the leader did not attack me for my somewhat presumptuous request and eventually agreed, though I had to ensure that the sanctuary would receive 3 tons of beneficial snacks in return, which I happily promised since that was a rather generous condition on the leader's part.

Mind you, that was for the leader's feather and blood since Fortuna's parents were more than happy to give me one of their feathers for free. They even gave me some blood seeing how I said to their leader that her blood would be helpful.

Still, as I said, I was happy to pay the requested price, and I had Mr. Cameron organize the snack delivery with the rotan caretakers. I simply paid them the 12 million Poke that the 3 kinds of snacks, for Togepi, Togetic, and Togekiss respectively, would cost. I believed that I got a pretty good deal out of it and the only regretful thing for me was that Utopia was unable to "copy" the leader's feather since its material class was too high, though Utopia was able to do so with Fortuna's parent's feathers, so that was a pretty great consolation prize.

Naturally, the totality of what I spent on everything necessary for the supplements was way higher than just 12 million, and I was pretty sure if anyone ever heard about the worth of the stuff they would all think that it was a waste, especially since I knew for a fact that the increase in potential would not be that big.

Fortuna already had light aurora potential after all, so any percentage increase was a battle uphill. Yet, in my opinion, every investment I made was worth every Poke I spent since every percentage increase after the light aurora grade was precious.

Anyway, Fortuna did whine a bit about being smeared in all that stuff but still accepted her lot since she knew how much work I put into its preparation and that it was beneficial for her. Once she had swallowed the ingestible ones and I had covered her with the external ones, I bid her a last good luck, before joining the others in the circle.

Only then did I levitate the Dazzling Stone towards her, which I exchanged from the alliance using my merit points by the way, and as soon as the stone touched her, a bright light erupted from Fortuna. Everyone watched the bright "cocoon" full of interest and we all held our breaths when the light began to die down, showing Fortuna to the world in all her glory. No longer was there a semi-petite Togetic standing there.

Instead, it was a decently sized Togekiss that I would definitely have a harder time carrying in my arms. Not because of her weight, but rather because of her dimensions. Togekiss's form was just a "bit" unwieldy, which might be no problem for a hug, but would just not feel the same when I tried carrying her around in my arms.

Nonetheless, outwardly she looked like I expected her to look with her shiny as well as royal genes, and I saw no further changes, which I did not mind. I just went up to her and hugged her while congratulating her on her evolution. The others joined in as well, and I simply went ahead and took a look at her new status sheet while they were doing that.

'Name: Fortuna

Species: Togekiss*

Gender: Female

Age: 4+ years

-

Type: Fairy, Flying

Potential: Light Aurora (88.34%)*

{Light Aurora (59.46%) -> (88.34%)}'

Seeing her potential I had to say that I was amazed at the increase that took place. An increase of close to 29% while possessing light aurora potential was already pretty considerable, especially considering that Bruce "only" got a 38.5% increase with his purple potential. It was safe to say that I was really happy that the efforts I made in preparing Fortuna's supplements paid off.

I directly shared the news with the others, and they were all also rather impressed with the sizeable increase in her potential. Some called her rather lucky until they remembered who they were talking about, which had them laugh a bit. Still, her luck seemed to have chosen to hold back a bit since both her modifier and talent section remained unchanged, though it was understandable if one considered how exaggerated those areas already were.

Anyway, it was only when I reached her affinity section that I saw a change.

'Affinities: Fairy, Flying, Psychic (weak)*'

It seems her luck did not stay completely silent seeing how her psychic affinity got upgraded from budding to weak. Fortuna was now only a single step away from attaining a standard psychic affinity. I was certainly looking forward to that moment, and Fortuna felt the same when I told her about it.

'Parameters:

Stage: Silver Stage (high)

Vitality: D

Strength: D

Endurance: C

Agility: D

Energy Capacity: C

Energy Density: B'

It was no surprise that her parameter section remained unchanged, and the same was true for her type relation section, though I had really hoped that her luck would come through and help her complete this one during her evolution even if we just started working on it a few months ago.

'Immunity:

Dragon

Resistance:

Fighting (Major), Bug (Major), Dark (Minor), Grass (Minor)

-

Weaknesses:

Poison (Minor), Steel (Minor), Electric (Minor), Ice (Minor), Rock (Minor)

-

Standardized:

Electric (in progress)'

Finishing this "manually" was probably going to take a long time unless she got lucky during a breakthrough, which was not that unlikely considering who she was. The reason for my prediction was that she really disliked the resistance training and Thor/Raichu did not want to electrocute everyone's lucky charm, so he went easy on her. Taking that into account, it was likely that the accumulation was probably not enough to satisfy the "heavens" this time around.

Nonetheless, it was no surprise that Fortuna disliked the resistance training, I mean no one in our family liked it. Rather than that, she preferred doing her regular training and/or training her moves. Move-wise she was currently alternating between Tailwind and Psychic. Honestly, having Fortuna focus simply on one thing was pretty hard for now, so whenever she got bored of learning Psychic, we had her switch to increasing her mastery of Tailwind since it allowed her to fly around, which she very much enjoyed doing.

Anyway, once I was done checking Fortuna's status sheet, I declared the start of her party and we spent the rest of the day/evening celebrating the "Heaven's Daughter's" evolution.

The morning after Fortuna's party I followed our standing tradition as usual and did our routine Grouday check-up after breakfast. No breakthroughs or evolutions took place as a result of that checkup session, but I was happy to confirm that everyone was in great shape. Arcday started a new week, and I returned to the previously flooded village to help finish the reconstructions there.

The weeks passed like that, with me going from one "disaster" zone to another, helping wherever I could, or rather wherever I was being assigned to. Honestly, the only noteworthy things by the arrival of the 5th week were that Rose had gone ahead and joined Weiss in Johto last week, along with the fact that I had not only been assigned to human areas but also wild areas that had been affected by natural or man/Pokemon made disasters.

My second month at the Disaster Relief Bureau was going to start on Palkiday, and I honestly thought the month would end on a quiet note, but fate decided to disagree. On Mewday, while I was on my lunch break with my coworkers, Mars/Ursasol called for my attention. When my thought stream responded, Mars shared that he got the feeling that he was done with his LB, so I checked his status sheet after returning to Utopia that evening.

It had been slightly more than 3 years since his evolution to Ursasol, and it appeared that Mars was now ready for the next step. I gave him the confirmation he wanted before making the announcement over UtopiaFM. We then headed to Mars' place and waited for the others to come over as well.

Once the last stragglers had made it, I had them form the circle while Fortuna/Togekiss and I did our usual pre-breakthrough/evolution ritual, though this time around Po/Pangoro decided to join us, saying that this was what he should do as the little bro. Nonetheless, after the hugs and good luck wishes were changed, we joined the circle and Mars initiated his breakthrough.

The breakthrough went relatively smoothly, he just lit up a tiny bit, which had us speculating that he either unlocked a talent, an affinity, a move, or maybe finalized a standardization. We all agreed that the event seemed simply too small for a modifier, but none of us dared to speak in absolutes.

Only once the process was over and his (mid) dark gold stage undulations spread, was I absolutely sure that he had not unlocked any modifier, at least not one that gave a bonus since even the "minor" ones would have been enough to push Mars to a (high) substage start.

Anyway, I made my way to Mars who was curiously checking out his body. I was naturally curious why he was doing that, but I first hugged him and congratulated him on reaching the dark gold stage before asking him what that was about. Mars told me that he felt a bit faster than he felt he should be but he was not sure if that was because of his breakthrough or not, which was why he had been curiously checking his body.

The others, who at this point had joined us as well, heard that and told him about the tiny light he released during his breakthrough before I could, and suggested that it might have something to do with that. This naturally has them all looking at me, and I just give them a nod before checking out Mars' new/updated status sheet.

'Name: Mars

Species: Ursasol

Gender: Male

Age: 15+ years

-

Type: Fire, Normal

Potential: Deep Purple (51.34%)*

{Purple (69.96%) -> (71.34%) -> Deep Purple (51.34%)}'

Seeing his potential at halfway to light aurora was gratifying since it meant that he would be able to attain light aurora during his next breakthrough, at least as long as nothing unforeseen happened. I also noted that he had suffered no reduction besides the one he had to accept due to reaching the dark gold stage and looking at his empty modifier section cemented that fact.

It was at the talent section that I came across the like candidate for Mars' impression since the section was no longer empty.

'Talents: Sun's Progeny*'

The title itself was rather imposing, and I quickly checked its description to see if it was as great as it sounded. Truthfully, after reading through the description, I was not sure if I should be disappointed or not. It was not as if the talent effect was bad, far from it, but it was not what I expected when I read "Sun's Progeny", though it was still really useful to Mars, so there was that.

"Sun's Progeny" raised the holder's Agility/Speed by 50% as long as the sun was out/shining. This meant that for as long as the sun was out, Mars would be 50% faster, and his Agility RV/BS would rise from 60 to 90, raising his total RV from 570 to 600. In that state, Mars joined the ranks of pseudo legendaries, or apex species as they were called here.

It was a bit unfortunate that it was not an unconditional talent, but who knew, if he was lucky enough, maybe it would undergo an upgrade in the future. Yet, for now, Sun's Progeny was kind of like a lesser "mirror" ability/talent to Chlorophyll.

I was not disparaging the talent by using lesser, but simply referring to the fact that Chlorophyll's effect was higher. Still, Sun's Progeny improved Mars' "worst" area, so it was definitely a welcome change. I obviously shared my findings with Mars as well as the others, and Mars was happy with it, which was all that was important.

I then continued to look through the rest of his status sheet, but it appeared that there were no further unexpected changes.

'Bond: Mikail (deep)*

Quirks: Likes Close Combat

----

Parameters:

Stage: Dark Gold Stage (mid)*

Vitality: C

Strength: B

Endurance: D

Agility: E

Energy Capacity: D

Energy Density: D'

I had already felt our bond deepen, and his parameters were as expected as well. It would take him a while to reach the (high) dark gold stage, but that was more than fine. Next up was his type relation section, and I, or rather we had hoped the breakthrough would save him from any further water resistance training, but that sadly did not happen.

'Immunity: Ghost, Water (conditional)

-

Resistance: Fire (Minor), Grass (Minor), Ice (Minor), Bug (Minor), Steel (Minor), Fairy (Minor)

-

Weaknesses: Water (Minor), Ground (Minor), Rock (Minor)

-

Standardized:

Fighting, Water (in progress)'

While Mars had a conditional immunity to water energy/moves, it did not change that he had a natural weakness to "water", which was why we had decided to work on it. Mars had to actively suppress his Desolate Land ability every time we worked on his water resistance, and we had been hopeful that with a bit of luck, we could skip a lot of future work. Obviously, that did not happen, but there was always next time if we did not manage to do it ourselves by then.

As for his moves and masteries, Mars had been focusing on learning and improving fire moves. He was now only a single move away from upgrading his Fire Energy Manipulation to advanced, and once he did, both his masteries would be at that level.

'Masteries:

Neutral Energy Manipulation (Advanced)

Fire Energy Manipulation (Proficient)

----

Techniques:

-

Novice:

Fire Slash (C, new)

-

Beginner:

Flame Burst (new), Flame Charge (new), Fire Blast (new)

-

Proficient:

Fire Fang (new), Flamethrower (new), Fire Spin (new), Heat Wave (new), Blaze Kick (new)

-

Advanced:

Solar Ring (3+), Solar Flare (3+), Endure (+)'

His move section was certainly impressive enough. No one could say that he did not make use of his fire typing with the number of fire-type moves he added to the pool, and once he raised Fire Spin to advanced mastery we could once more start focusing on his other moves.

Anyway, since I was done with Mars' status sheet, I began taking out our party stuff and declared the start of Mars' celebration.
