Just as Detective Monroe had said, we got our next case around lunch, and it was a "simple" break-in case, where the substantial savings of the homeowner got stolen. Why those were kept at home was another question, but this meant, that they had no real evidence of the stolen amount aside from their word.
Unfortunately, I was not allowed to testify as well, so we had to capture the thief and confirm it the classic way. Thankfully, it only took us two days to capture the thief and reclaim the money, though the thief had already spent some of it. I made sure we got evidence of his spending, which was enough to prove that the couple's claim had been truthful.
Naturally, the old couple received their money back. Well, most of their money back, and from what Detective Monroe told me since their claim had been proven genuine, their alliance insurance would cover the rest, along with the fees for the repairs caused by the break-in. I could freely admit that it felt quite rewarding when they thanked us, and overall, it was a good case to start the month, I guess.
Our second case was a theft one as well. The case was rather easy to solve and rather funny, to be honest. A lady phoned in that her golden necklace had been stolen from her home, but after some investigative work, we found the necklace inside her home.
More specifically, we found the necklace along with a few other shiny things in a secret nest that her "homestay" Meowth had built. The poor lady looked quite mortified when her "stolen" necklace showed up in her own home, but we assured her that there was nothing wrong with her choice of contacting the police.
After that, we got no further cases, which was good in a way since an hour later my shift ended. We used the time to write our report, and as soon as the time was up, I said my goodbyes to everyone and left for my prolonged weekend.
So far, I had not had any attempts on my life during these last four days, but that was not because my would-be assassins had given up, at least I assumed they didn't. No, it was because I did not want to deal with them and had teleported straight to my room in the officer's dorm without even stepping out of the Police HQ. Obviously, I did not stay there but inside Utopia to spend time with my Pokemon.
Still, that was not what I was going to do today. I was not planning to spend the next three days inside Utopia, and I really wanted to eat some fried chicken right now, so I left the HQ the regular way and made my way to the nearest KFC, though I did take out Mothra/Butterfree first and let her settle on her favorite seat.
With her on my head, and Hades in my shadow I was not worried about any ambush attempt. Not that any of the wannabe assassins would have been able to kill me even without my Pokemon. Their presence was more because they insisted on doing it and just in case someone managed to catch me off guard.
Anyway, I made it to the KFC without any issues, which was a rather pleasant surprise since I honestly thought that something would happen. I waited for my turn and gave a modest order of just 18 family buckets. Not all of those were for me since Mothra and Hades each got one of the buckets. I could have given them more, but I did not want to ruin their diet with unhealthy fast food. The bucket was mostly to satisfy their appetite, not to sate their hunger.
Since the order was a big one, I let them bring the buckets over one by one so that others did not have to wait until my order was complete. My only requirement was that they did not leave me hanging/waiting. Well, I did ask for 3 buckets to start with, so that each of us could have something to eat.
Everything went fine until my stomach began to suddenly churn and hurt halfway through my 12th bucket. I first thought one of the wings had been bad, but the pain got worse very fast, and I realized that I had been poisoned. That thought made me quite furious. These b*st*rds had gone too far this time. One of them actually dared to ruin one of the things I truly enjoyed.
With true indignation and anger burning in my belly, I pulled out a Pecha Berry and ate it. Unfortunately, that did not work as expected. It appeared that my poisoner was not completely stupid and had chosen something too strong for a Pecha Berry. My actions attracted the attention of the other people around me, and quite a few tried to come close while asking if I was alright.
However, they were stopped by Hades, who emerged from my shadow. His appearance made everyone take a step back, and I could feel their worry and fear, though there was an exception. I felt the glee coming off of one of the KFC employees and deduced that he was the one who poisoned me.
No one else gave off any hostile feelings, so I told Hades to get the guy, while I pulled out a (universal) antidote. The poisoner who was being dragged over to me laughed maliciously and yelled that it was useless. He gloated that the (universal) antidote was not enough to cure his poison before breaking out in evil laughter.
Honestly, I was pretty sure this man was nuts seeing the kind of cliche evil villain routine he was pulling off here. Frankly, his action gave me an over-exaggerated impression, and I was not impressed at all. Hades seemed to agree with me since he Sucker Punched the guy in the stomach, cutting off his deranged laughter.
While he was wheezing, I chuckled before drinking the antidote. When the guy tried to speak up, Mothra used Purify on me. While the antidote alone might not have been enough, combined with Mothra's Purify and the Pecha Berry in my stomach, it cured me of the poison. Honestly, I suspected that Mothra could have cured me even without the universal antidote, but I still took it just to piss off the poison guy. His aggrieved look was like balm on my soul.
However, that was far from enough. This guy messed with my fast food, and I couldn't have that. Trying to kill me was one thing, and messing with my food was an entirely different game. I needed to send out a message that messing with my meals was a no-go, so after telling everyone that I was a cop and that the matter had been resolved, I informed them that they all had to vacate the restaurant because the restaurant had become a crime scene.
I then called Detective Monroe under the eyes of everyone and told her about the murder attempt. Everyone began to leave after that, and once they were gone, I called out Enji/Arcanine. I asked him to wait in front of the door and let no one aside from the police inside.
Afterward, I turned to the poison guy and told him that he would have to serve as a warning before letting Mothra use two doses of her Itching Powder on him. He immediately started to feel the itch, and just as he was about to start scratching his body for some relief, I immobilized him.
He felt no pain, but having an itch one can't scratch at all was as bad, if not worse, especially since not just one place was itching but more than half his body. It didn't take long for him to yell at me to let him scratch his itch. Just as he began to beg me to let him scratch himself and to make it stop, Detective Monroe arrived along with a bunch of officers.
Since they had come, Mothra freed the guy from his suffering, and we handed him over to Detective Monroe, who gave me a disapproving look. She began to reprimand me for doing something like this in a place where civilians, including children, were able to hear the perpetrator's wails.
Seeing how her reprimand was valid, I accepted the reprimand since it was true that my action had been a bit inappropriate regardless of the perpetrator's actions since I had declared myself a police officer to the civilians.
Still, I had en excuse for that, so before I went back to my dorm, I went out and loudly explained that the guy had tried to use itching powder on me to distract me so that he could escape, but that I had stopped him, which had ended up with his powder falling on himself.
While it might have sounded a bit far-fetched to some, it was enough that I had provided a somewhat believable excuse for the masses. I mean I could have left without providing any explanation, but I didn't.
Anyway, after settling the matter, I teleported to my dorm room and entered Utopia. I stayed for the rest of the evening but went out for a stroll the next day just to show that I was not going to hide just because of a poisoning attempt. Still, it seems the poison guy's fate managed to buy me some peace since I managed to pass the rest of my week without another attempt at my life.
On Arcday, Chief Junsa called me to my office and criticized me for my actions on Palkiday. He made it loud and clear that I was not allowed to torment anyone in a public setting regardless of whether they tried to kill me moments before or not. He then let me go back to work after I assured him that I would make sure not to torment anyone in a public establishment.
I joined Detective Monroe and we went right back to work. Before I knew it two more weeks passed just like that. During this time, I only had to deal with three attempts at my life in private, and we got assigned a homicide case that was completely unrelated to me on Palkiday.
I mean, I offered to come to work on Dialday at the end of my shift since we, understandably, did not manage to solve the case in a single day, but Detective Loneson as well as Monroe declined and told me not to worry about it, so I left for my extended weekend, though I had to admit that I had mixed feelings about leaving like that in the middle, or rather start of a homicide case.
Nonetheless, since I was told it was okay I decided to let it be and went to my dorm, where I then entered Utopia. The next morning, I left Celadon and headed to the beach I had gone to the last time. Once I reached the place, I let everyone out and we spent the whole day there. Occasionally, having days like this, with absolutely no training at all, was important as well since it allowed everyone to completely relax, and gave their bodies a break.
Kyoday was spent outside of Celadon City as well. I decided to pay Uncle Raichu and his mischief a visit since it had been a while. Thor/Raichu was not the only one who enjoyed spending time with his family since playing around with a bunch of Raichu, Pikachu, and Pichu was quite fun. I made sure to take some photos and send them to our group chat, which resulted in some envious replies.
Jessie told/wrote me that I should bring her along the next time I went to visit Uncle Raichu, which Rose and a few of the other girls followed up with "Me too" messages. I sent them a hands-up emoji and promised to ask them if they wanted to come along the next time I came to visit Uncle Raichu. That seemed to satisfy them, and the conversation steered to the regular "What'chu doing?" and "Did anything interesting happen lately?".
The next morning, after breakfast, I started my/our usual Grouday routine. Everyone did their thing, whether that be training, playing, or relaxing, while I went around and checked up on them one by one. Halfway through the check-up routine, I saw something rather pleasing.
