Chapter 495 - CH126 (490), Covert Mission (8)

The next few minutes went by rather calmly all things considered. I mean Anubis/Lucario was outnumbered 5 to 1, and yet he managed to keep the situation at a stalemate.

He managed to match Primeape hit for hit, blocking all its attempts at hitting him, which was much harder than it sounded since he had to keep an eye out and block any attacks coming from Graveler, Arbok, Raticate, and Fearow as well.

All things considered, my boy showed an enormous amount of battlefield awareness. He actually managed to retaliate once or twice even under the pressure he was in. For example, he managed to Bullet Punch Fearow while it dive-bombed at him with a Drill Peck, and I thought for a moment he was going to bend its beak.

Well, it got spared the shame of having to eat through a straw, but it got flung away and crash-landed quite a few meters away, buying Anubis some time without Fearow circling above his head.

His kicking away Raticate when it tried to ambush his side as if he was a professional footballer was a close second as far as replay-worthy moments during the match, sorry, I meant battle were concerned.

Graveler and Arbok were the lucky ones in this whole thing since they were keeping their distance, so the most attention Anubis could spare for them was to lob Aura Spheres at them whenever he could to interrupt their cowardly sniping from afar.

Well, at least it was considered cowardly if the other side was doing it. Obviously, I did not forget to taunt Nate and attack his confidence as well as his pride. I might have involved his ability as a man and said that he was targeting/abusing those weaker than him because he was a little b*tch.

There was some other stuff that actually attacked him on a psychological level, but I kept those above a certain boundary since I kinda did not like using childhood trauma like that even if the target was scum like Nate. There was so much more I could use as an alternative, so I had no problem leaving the deep-seated childhood trauma alone.

Anyway, around six minutes into the fight, Anubis was forced to change his strategy since he had to do too much and he was burning through his energy much faster than he would like. He knew the purpose of this whole exercise and decided that manipulating the battle flow to have Primeape involuntarily block some of the attacks meant for him would fit right in.

Raticate as well as Fearow weren't spared either, and after the third time, the two became more hesitant with their ambushes. Meanwhile, Nate was ranting and getting all angry at me, Anubis, and his Pokemon. Anubis as well as little old me for obvious reasons, and his Pokemon because they could, in his words, not even beat a single b*stard while ganging up on him.

He threw shit at them each time they ended up hitting one of their own and he even began disparaging Primeape because he allowed himself to be led by the nose by Anubis.

Honestly, once he began insulting his own Pokemon, I was pretty sure I was starting to really get to him, and that he was starting to realize that he won't get away. By the time he began insulting his Primeape, which was extremely stupid by the way, I knew that Nate was no longer thinking straight at all.

I mean no mentally sound person would insult a Primeape, not to mention one that was fighting for oneself and one's freedom. I mean, Primeape were not known for their good temper and there was only so much shit talk a Primeape, regardless of whether it was a recently capture one, an old team member, or even the starter, could take before flaring up.

I knew that, and Nate knew that as well. Heck, everyone knew that since it was something we got taught at school. Primeape and Mankey were relatively common in Kanto after all, so every kid knew the do's and don'ts involving that aggressive Pokemon line.

Yet, here we had Nate disregarding what was pretty much common sense, indirectly, or directly depending on how one looked at the situation, proving to me that he had gone off the rails.

The whole thing came to a head when Lucario went all taichi on Fearow and redirected its nosedive straight at Primeape who was about to Mega Kick him below his belt. Fearow ended up catching the kick with its head and the resulting sound of that meeting did not sound good at all.

Fearow drew a parabola in the air for a moment before crashing into the ground and sliding along the ground until it came to a stop. It remained unmoving after that and if not for the slight rise and fall of its chest along with the weak life signal I could sense, I would have thought that Fearow might have died.

Primeape actually froze after it struck Fearow, and I could see it following Fearow's flight and subsequent crash with its eyes. I felt the smidgen of relief Primeape felt when it noticed the movement coming from Fearow's chest, along with the frustration as well as anger that had built up throughout the fight, and just as one would expect of the species, there was a lot of pent-up anger and frustration there, just waiting to be fully unleashed.

Well, as we had previously established Nate had gone off the hooks some time ago due to his own anger and frustration, so when Anubis made use of Primeape's momentary distraction to knock out Raticate, Nate ended up providing the trigger for Primeape to do the same.

Words such as "useless", "blind", "stupid", and "shit for brains" were thrown out and as soon as the last one left his mouth Nate had a moment of clarity in which he regretted going ballistic on Primeape. It was one of those moments when someone says something and regrets it as it comes out but even though one wants to take it back, it was already out there and the damage had been done.

Well, Nate had exactly such a moment, sponsored by yours truly, the moment he saw the popping veins and flared nostrils of Primeape along with the angry glare directed at him. Before he could apologize or utter any excuse, Primeape went apeshit crazy.

It completely ignored Anubis and rushed straight toward Nate, who stumbled backward in panic while screaming for Graveler and Arbok to stop Primeape. While Nate kept creeping backward, Graveler and Arbok did their best to restrain Peimeape, but holding back a furious Primeape was really hard, especially if that Primeape was stronger than oneself.

The only reason they managed to keep Primeape away from Nate at all was because they were double-teaming it. Sadly for Nate, they only managed to stop Primeape for a minute before it managed to grab ahold of Arbok's tail and flung it away, hurling it straight at Anubis, who did not decline the home delivery and knocked Arbok out within a few moments.

Coincidentally, Graveler got knocked out by Primeape at nearly the exact same time as Arbok did by Anubis. Honestly, from the way I saw it, Graveler pretty much stopped honestly resisting after Arbok got flung away. It simply put up a symbolic struggle before it allowed itself to be knocked out, and frankly, that was rather smart of Graveler since it saved itself from any further needless suffering.

On the other side, Primape did not bother with the downed Graveler after taking it out and instead stalked toward Nate, who had gone really pale. I was honestly a bit surprised that he had not peed his pants yet. I mean I could feel that he was scared enough to do so, but somehow he managed to keep his pants dry.

Nonetheless, Nate was genuinely scared and first tried to calm Primape down before right out pleading for Primeape to calm down. He became hysterical when he saw Primeape still heading in his direction, though admittedly, all that pathetic pleading and groveling seemed to work since I could feel Primeape actually calming down.

Though as I said, it kept heading towards Nate, which was why he got increasingly frantic. Honestly, Primeape had actually calmed down quite a bit by the time it was only a step or two away from Nate, so everything would have been fine if Nate had not agitatedly screamed at Primeape to calm the f*ck down.

That shout ended up raising Primeape's aggression level back up, making some good old Pokemon on trainer action appealing once more. Unfortunately, I still had to hand Nate over, and he had to be in one piece, so when Primeape raised his hand, presumably to b*tch-slap Nate, I asked Anubis/Lucario to stop it before it could bring its hand down.

Still, the distance between them was big enough that Anubis stood a good chance of being too late, and that was enough for Nate to release an outcry and finally lose control of his bladder. Seeing Primeape about to strike him, he wet his pants, and thus lost the last shred of dignity he had managed to hold on to throughout the whole drama.

When it seemed like Primeape would manage to slap Nate after all, I requested Thor/Raichu to interfere before Primeape's palm could connect since I obviously could not allow that to happen due to my mission.

Thor made blitzed forward and used his tail as well as Psychic to follow my request. With Primeape immobilized, I began walking toward the unfortunate duo and Anubis came to my side to accompany me.

Still, since the whole capture/punishment thing was done in my mind, I began doing my best to calm Primeape down. Thankfully it worked, as Primeape pretty much stopped struggling against Thor's Psychic hold, and after some additional work, Primeape allowed itself to be lulled into sleep, leaving Nate truly alone with us.

The guy seemed to be aware of that as well since his nervousness first dropped for a moment when Primeape fell asleep before the nervousness returned and even surpassed the previous level. He flinched when I stopped in front of him, and he actually looked quite pitiable when he cried out after I raised my hands.

Still, unlike what he expected, I did not do that to hit him but to grab his Pokeballs instead. He got even paler than before when he saw his balls floating above my hand. I ignored him for a moment and began recalling all 5 of Nate's Pokemon. Once they were back inside, I set the balls to "sleep mode".

Only after that, did I turn my full attention to Nate, and honestly, seeing the state he was in, I did not even bother ridiculing/provoking him any further. Instead, I just calmly told him that he had lost and that I was going to capture him now.

Nate actually showed signs of relief when I told him that it was over, and I could not help but feel some pity for him even though I was pretty much the one that put him in this state in the first place. Nonetheless, I cuffed him before calling the number of Mr. Cameron to tell him that I had completed my part.

Our conversation was pretty short since he was busy, but it boiled down to him telling me I had done a good job capturing my target, and that someone would come over to my position to take Nate into custody. Less than 10 minutes later two aura users showed up and after they said the agreed-upon handover command, I left Nate to them.

With the handover complete, I was now done with the mission. Well, I actually still had to write a battle/mission report and hand it to Mr. Cameron, but I did not count that since it only involved me writing a report. I finished that up in less than an hour once I was back home, and I sent Mr. Cameron the report as soon as it was done.

I got a reply that I would receive my rewards as soon as the operation was done and the results were recorded. I knew that would take a few days at least and I did not mind all that much. Instead of bothering with that, I took a nice warm bath to relax since I really needed to do that after the events of the day.
