To be honest, by the time I met up with my "supervisors" in front of the academy gate, I came to the conclusion that the tide/situation yesterday could have ended way worse due to various reasons.
If the criminals had a Pokemon capable of teleportation then the search of the tide would have turned extremely hard and who knows how they would have reacted.
It could have been even worse if Spiral Town had been a city with a Teleportation Hub. The criminals would have gotten away, but the tide would have been led to the city and would have probably flattened the whole city during their search. Yeah, no way that it would not have ended in a disaster.
Or let's say the criminals had flying types big enough to carry them and had been smart enough to fly away with them. That would have probably escalated the situation as well.
Actually, that one might have not led the tide to any close-by settlement if the criminals did not stop at any of them, but still, we had no way of knowing how the tide and the Boss Sawsbuck would have reacted if that happened.
He might have asked for an explanation from the Alliance/Aura Guardians, or he might have lashed out. Both are possible, even if I thought the second option was the more likely one, at least in my opinion.
Anyway, what I wanted to say was that there could have been many ways that the current situation could have been worse and that I could now really appreciate why the league was censoring certain Pokemon from my lists.
Before I was like "yeah, that makes sense", but now I'm actually believing it when I say that it makes sense. I mean honestly, I can't understand why those idiots behaved as they did.
I mean they succeeded in snatching the Moss Rock, but why did they go out of their way to kill a harmless Pokemon like Deerling and that at the iron stage, if they could have simply knocked it out or even escaped while ignoring it.
I mean the way things went, they had been obviously capable of that. If they had simply left the Deerling alone after getting the rock they would have perfectly escaped and the Boss Sawsbuck would have most likely let the matter rest.
Anyway, my parents were cool with the news and they told me to help to the best of my ability before sending me off. Once I arrived in front of the gate, I saw Ms. Barn and Mr. Clean waiting for me, along with someone whom I did not recognize.
Honestly, the only reason I recognized Ms. Barn and Mr. Clean was due to my awesome memory. Otherwise, there was no way I would remember someone whom I only saw once on the second day of my first year during the measuring episode.
Anyway, we still did a little round of introduction and greetings and I was introduced to Ms. Citrus, the third member of our group. Honestly, her looks reminded me of Ms. Valentine, or rather Mikita, just fuller.
So, I was briefly surprised that I was noticing her for the first time since she was apparently a staff member of the academy. Still, it kinda made sense since she was apparently working in the infirmary and I never got hurt in any of our lessons.
The sessions with Mr. Burns where he beats me black and blue don't count, and I honestly never tried going to the infirmary for them. I just took care of those injuries by myself. Hence, why I had no idea of her existence despite her being practically under my nose for close to two years.
As if it had been waiting for our greetings to be out of the way an Alakazam suddenly appeared. I was pretty sure that it was sent by Mr. Cameron and my guess got confirmed when it told us that it would Teleport us to Spiral Town.
I felt Alakazam lock onto us with its vast psychic powers before teleporting with us in tow. We arrived at our destination virtually instantly and having experienced quite a lot of teleports, on top of being something of a humble beginner teleporter myself, I could say that the level of smoothness of that teleportation was some next-level shit.
Alakazam brought us directly to the command center of the relief efforts, and he directly left after delivering us. We went straight to the desk with the registration sign above it to announce our arrival and to be assigned to our respective tasks.
"Alright, we have been informed about your arrival and your roles have been decided according to our most urgent needs. Ms. Barn and Mr. Clean shall help with the clean-up work, but you'll also be given the frequency of the security channel so that you can be asked for help in case some stronger individuals cause problems.
We have police officers, some qualified volunteers, and some Knight Academy students patrolling the Town to keep the order, but the support of strong trainers like you is always welcome, especially since you both are Junior Aura Guardians as well.
You shall receive concrete instructions at the tent coordinating the clean-up. They will also be the ones to assign you a place to stay for the duration of your stay. The tent can be found roughly 200 meters to the right," the clerk informed Ms. Barn and Mr. Clean.
The two nodded before they said goodbye to Ms. Citrus and me. They then headed towards the tent of the clean-up crew. Once they were gone the clerk turned toward me and Ms. Citrus.
"You two were assigned to the medical group since that's the one we need the most help with. We asked for help from all PokeCenters across the northern continent, and any available Doctors, Nurse Joys along with all free apprentices were and are still being brought over right now.
Nonetheless, the priority of the doctors and nurses are those that were fatally or seriously injured, so the mildly to lightly injured ones have to be treated by the apprentices and those of us capable of some healing and first aid.
That is why your help is very important and my guess is that you will most likely be asked to stay with the medical group for the whole duration of your mission. We have thousands of injured people, children among them, and not even remotely enough people to help them.
James will take you to the medic area. Since the number of injured is too high we had to open a big area for them so their tent zone is a bit far from here. Your accommodations are going to be determined there as well," she said before she called someone, who I presumed was James, over so that he could lead us to the medic zone.
It took us roughly 5 min to arrive at the medic zone, but once we were there I had to suppress a whistle of surprise. As far as I could see, and I could see pretty far due to being a legit superhuman, there were tents, presumably ones with patients inside.
Also, the tents I was talking about were not those camping tents, but the big ones, close to the size of a regular room. By my estimate there had to be more than 300 such tents which was a huge amount considering the size of each tent.
That should also give one an idea of the size of the medic zone, especially since there had to be a certain distance between each tent to ensure smooth movement between the tents.
James led us to the biggest tent before he returned to his position. It was the kind one would see used by generals for meetings in war movies and those were always really big. Ms. Citrus and I entered the tent, and there were quite a lot of people inside who all seemed really busy.
We went to the desk that had a sign above it that said assignments to announce our arrival, so that we would be assigned our job and our accommodation for the night.
"Ms. Citrus we have been sent information regarding your qualifications, so you'll be sent to assist the doctors and nurses working on the seriously injured patients. One of the beds in tent 28 is free so that will be your place for the duration of your stay. The 3 other beds are being occupied by 3 Nurse Joys that arrived from Kanto to help.
Please keep any valuable things inside your bag and bring the bag around wherever you go. While we had no problems with theft so far, it's better to be safe than sorry," the clerk said in a somewhat subdued tone, which led me to the assumption that she was a local.
Ms. Citrus nodded and went towards the table the clerk pointed her to after saying goodbye to me.
"As for you, Mr. Geo, we have only received the information that you possess Pokemon capable of healing but no further details, so I'd like you to list the Pokemon that are capable of helping us. That way we can determine where to assign you," she addressed me next and I accepted her request.
I had thought about which of my Pokemon could be useful in this situation and had actually come up with a pretty large list.
"Well, first are those that have healing moves, which would be Kirlia with both Heal Pulse and Life Dew, then come Clefable, two Milotic, and Lapras who also know Life Dew. Their move mastery for those moves is either proficient or advanced, so they're good enough to heal most non-serious injuries.
Apart from that my Xatu, Butterfree, and Kadabra could use Psychic to immobilize patients during treatment to avoid any complications. They could probably also set bones that way.
Then I have another Butterfree that has mastered both Sleep Powder and Stun Powder, so he could control the potency of the move to the highest degree, allowing him to use Stun Powder to numb any injured area without negatively affecting the patient. He could let them fall asleep that way using Sleep Powder as well.
There is also my Drowzee who could help with sleep-related situations since his kind is an expert on anything related to sleep," I finished listing everyone thought could be helpful in the current situation.
The poor women looked rather surprised by the number of Pokemon I listed, or was it the different methods of practice I proposed, or was it the fact that some of my Pokemon were considered extremely rare. Whichever it was, it took her a bit to snap out of it.
"Ah, yes. This is going to be really helpful. The addition of so many Pokemon capable of using healing moves will give the others some much-needed breathing room. As for your proposal regarding the psychics, the powers, and the hypnosis, I'll have to redirect that to your immediate superior since that's something I can't decide," she said before making a call.
"Alright, apprentice Joy is expecting you inside tent 22. That one is roughly 250 meters to the west of this tent and then another 50 meters north. The number should be visible on the entrance of the tent as it is on all tents," she finished explaining and I left after thanking her for her help.
I made my way over to tent 22 and it took nearly 5 minutes to find the right tent despite it being pretty close by. I entered the tent and was really surprised by what, or rather who I saw inside.
Jessie was actually inside the tent and seeing the way she was looking at me with a smile, she was the one waiting for me. I went up to her, hugged her to greet her, and she happily returned.
"Are you the apprentice Joy that is supposed to be my superior for this task?" I asked in surprise since this was something completely out of my expectation.
"Yeah, I'm one of the apprentices in charge of the care of the mild to lightly injured patients, and you were assigned under my command. That means for the next two weeks you get to be my faithful minion," she rightfully teased, and had to chuckle at her amusement.
