Chapter 112 - CH50 (111), First Dive

After dinner, I decided to bring up the Spearow that I had caught. I had ultimately decided to give him to my mother instead of keeping him for myself.

So, once we were all sitting on the couch I pulled out Spearow's ball for my parents to see. My father had an exasperated face that screamed again which made me chuckle, while my mother simply had a curious look.

"Honey, are you going to tell us why you pulled out a Pokeball; or are you waiting for your father to crack and ask first?" My mother chuckled while asking me that, which made my father release a sigh.

"Ha, ha, ha. Really funny, honey." He returned in a dry tone before turning to me. He released another sigh and I could visibly see him relaxing while he was expelling the air.

*sigh*

"Yes, Mikail, do tell us why you pulled out a Pokeball this time. Did you save another Pokemon that wanted to join you afterward?" He asked in a humorous tone and my mom giggled because she apparently thought his joke was funny.

"Nope, not this time," I said with a shrug.

"I came across a Spearow that gave off a really good feeling, so I decided to catch it because such cases are pretty rare."

They both nodded at that since they knew how hard it was to find Pokemon with good potential generally. My observe function aside and even then finding them was pretty rare.

"That's great, honey." My mother complimented me but before both of them could say anything else I continued.

"Thanks. Anyway, I may have caught it, but I already have Pidgey, so I thought about it and since dad already has Skye, I decided to give Spearow to mom." I said while looking at them.

My mother released a short cry of happiness before she hugged me and pinched my cheeks a few times. While my cheeks were suffering my father started laughing at my helplessness and I shot him a glare that just made him laugh some more.

*ahem*

"That was well-reasoned son. Besides you already gave me Lotad, so your mommy would have pouted if you had given Spearow to me as well." My father complimented me before saying the second part in a teasing tone, which made my mother protest indignantly.

"Hey, that's not true. I wouldn't have pouted." She protested while shaking her head.

My father just gave her a deadpan look and for a while, they simply stared into the eyes of each other. Just when I was thinking if I should interfere my mother broke their staring contest.

This was one of the rare cases he won, which made my father chuckle for a bit but being the smart person that he was he decided to placate her.

"I know you wouldn't do that dear. I was just joking." He said before he kissed her on her right cheek making my mother giggle.

Deciding to ignore my parent's antics, I passed the ball to my mother while telling her some stuff about Spearow.

"Spearow's potential should be about the same as Epona's potential and strength-wise, he's at the (low) bronze stage."

My mother accepted the ball from me and instead of putting it away as I had expected, she called Spearow out after changing the ownership of the ball. After he appeared on the coffee table, he examined his surrounding before his gaze settled on me.

"Hello again, Spearow." I gave him a small wave while greeting him, before pointing to my mother.

"This is my mom. She's a good trainer that will be able to help you get stronger. I am sure you two will get along really well." I told him while looking into his eyes, before leaving him to his fate, .... I meant to my mother.

Spearow focused on my mother after I said that, and she stood up so that she could approach him. I left the Spearow thing to her and after she was done the rest of the evening and weekend went mostly like normal. The only other noteworthy event was my mother's Sneasel breaking through to the bronze stage on Grouday.

That had been yesterday. I had just now arrived at my beach once more. Since I was done exploring the beach, for now, I had three options available to me. I could explore the cave I had found during my survey or I could go diving to do some underwater exploring.

Finally, I could also check out the sea on a boat or while swimming to see if I could find an island or two. Maybe do some fishing or just look around enjoying the view. I eventually settled on doing some diving first.

So, I entered my space, went into my house, and changed into some swimming trunks. After that, I took the swimming goggles as well as the rebreather and left my space again. I then walked towards the water and kept walking until the water became high enough to reach my belly.

The temperature of the water was not cold as I expected it to be. It wasn't pleasantly warm, but it was pleasant enough for me to not have to care about it.

I put on my goggles as well as my rebreather, and once I did I called out all four of my (mid) bronze-stage Magikarp. They started circling me as soon as they were in the water and came closer to me one by one so that I could hug each of them.

Afterward, I began to move forward again, but this time by swimming. I kept swimming forward for about a minute before I thought that the water had become deep enough to enjoy diving, so I began to do that after that point.

The first thing that got my attention were my Magikarp and I went up to each one of them to stroke their sides a bit. Then I focused on the surroundings but mostly on the seabed. I was at this point, by my estimates, a bit less than 1 kilometer away from the beach.

I could see a lot of patches of seagrass and some seaweeds as well. The sand at the seafloor seemed light brown. There were some fish swimming around as well as the occasional Magikarp.

I swam closer to some of the seaweed so that I could check them out but they turned out to be regular stuff for the most part with some Azure Kelp here and there but I already had that one.

While I swam towards the closest patch of seagrass, I noticed that there seemed to be different kinds of seagrass growing in this place. The patch I was currently approaching resembled regular grass and had flat, stiff blades that were on average 16 to 25 cm long with the longer ones growing up to 33 cm.

There were also some small corals but there were too few of them and they were majorly overshadowed by the grass. I checked them both out and the coral came out as such while the grass seemed to be called Shoal Grass.

Unfortunately, nearly all of the grass I saw was regular Shoal Grass, but I did find some that looked and felt healthier than the others. They belonged to the longer group and turned out to be useful.

'Name: Vibrant Shoal Grass

Type: Water

Class: F

Uses: It's a blade of shoal grass that has absorbed water energy until it mutated. Contains some grass energy, and compressed water-type energy. Can be used as a supplement to help grass and water-type Pokemon.'

I saw regular fish and some Magikarp swimming between the shoal grass and even spotted 4 Krabby walking on the sand. I observed them for a bit and saw them occasionally eating some of the grass preferably the vibrant ones, as well as some of the fish swimming around.

I checked the sand as well, but it turned up as just regular sand. After seeing nothing else that was useful I swam towards the other patches of seagrass, especially the ones that looked different compared to the shoal grass.

The next patch of grass was much shorter than the shoal grass and had oval blades that looked on average 5 cm long. After checking them I learned that they were called Paddle Grass.

Nearly all of them were just normal but after looking for a bit I saw one that looked more vibrant than the others. The problem was that it was about to be eaten by a Barboach, but hey at least I got to see my first Barboach. I decided to let it eat it but I naturally had to check out its status, before I started looking for another blade like that one.

'Species: Barboach

Gender: Male

Type: Water, Ground

Potential: Light Orange

Stage: Iron-stage (mid)

Genetic variation: None

Abilities: Oblivious

Talents: None

Affinities: Water, Ground'

After checking my first Barboach I began looking for another one of those special Paddle Grass that I could take for myself. While searching for that I saw another two Barboach.

Interestingly, there were a lot of regular fish swimming around, but only a single Magikarp, which was a lot less than around the shoal grass. Maybe they thought the Paddle grass was too short. Anyway, it took me a few minutes but I did eventually find another one.

'Name: Vital Paddle Grass

Type: Water

Class: F

Uses: It's a blade of paddle grass that has absorbed water energy until it mutated. Contains some grass energy, and compressed water-type energy. Can be used as a supplement to help grass and water-type Pokemon.'

Once I had stored the Vital Paddle Grass inside my space, I swam towards a patch that had some of the last different looking grass species, at least as far as I could see.

I had noticed that while I was swimming around checking out stuff my Magikarp had been following me around, which was good and exactly what I wanted them to do.

The interesting thing was that I saw them occasionally munching on some of the grass or some of the regular fish. They also deterred any of the Pokemon from approaching me on their own.

If I was the one approaching the Pokmon they did not interfere, but once a Pokemon/Magikarp tried to swim towards me on their own my Magikarp scared/send them off.

I naturally had no problem with this and felt happy instead. Anyway, I arrived at the patch of grass I had aimed for and immediately checked it out. They looked flat and ribbon-like and seemed to be some 30 cm long. I checked them and found out that they were called Goldeen Grass.

The surrounding area was a bit more active than the others and as the name of the grass would suggest I saw some Goldeen swimming between the grass blades well in addition to the Magikarp and regular fish. Not only that, but I also saw my first Tentacool there.

I naturally started looking for a better version of the Goldeen Grass. I mean since the other two had some then this one should have some as well. It took a while since the grass blades were petty long touch making it harder to see between them, but I found one.

'Name: Lively Goldeen Grass

Type: Water

Class: F

Uses: It's a blade of Goldeen grass that has absorbed water energy until it mutated. Contains some grass energy, and compressed water-type energy. Can be used as a supplement to help grass and water-type Pokemon.'

After I stored one of them inside my space, I began to just leisurely swim around the place for a bit, since I had gotten the materials that directly stood out to me. While I was swimming, I started to think about the regular fish swimming around the place.

I saw that my Magikarp liked to eat them since they seemed to gobble them up occasionally while swimming beside me. So, I decided to relocate a certain number of them into my marine subspace.

I needed to reserve an area for them to keep the Magikarp inside from eating them all before they could multiply, but that was among the functions, so made sure of it.

Once I made that decision I would occasionally put some of the small groups of fish I came across while swimming around the area, checking the Pokemon and looking for some useful things, inside my marine subspace.
