Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Day after the night

I woke up, my memory hazy and unsure of where I was. Opening my eyes, I found myself surrounded by two girls holding my hand.

"Whoa!" I exclaimed, surprised to see them staring back at me. They reassured me, their fascination was evident, as they had never encountered a creature like me before.

"Don't worry, everything's fine," one of them said with a comforting smile. They had taken care of me after whatever had happened. But I couldn't help but wonder, how did I end up in this magnificent palace? "Sir, I can see that you have many questions, especially about how you ended up here."

They seemed to be aware of my thoughts. Sitting up in bed, I asked them who they were, my face filled with curiosity.

"I'm Nia," one of them introduced herself.

"And I'm Charlotte," the other added.

They both spoke in unison, and I couldn't help but notice their resemblance. It seemed they were twins.

"Oh, I should introduce myself properly. I'm Charlotte, the last member of the angel race. I'm hardworking and dedicated to any task assigned to me," Charlotte beamed, radiating happiness.

"I'm Nia, the last member of the demon race. I'm usually the quieter one and not known for my diligence in this city. I tend to rely on my sister, Nia, for most things," Nia explained, her cheerful nature shining through.

"I'm Alfonse! Nice to meet ya!" I greeted them with a friendly smile.

Curious about our location, I asked them where exactly we were. This place was like nothing I had ever seen before, a true masterpiece.

"Where are we, exactly?" I asked, raising both hands in a gesture of curiosity.

"We're in the academy of Lunaria, Pilgrim," they responded.

"Pilgrim is the name of the academy, and Lunaria is the name of the Kingdom we're in right now," they clarified.

"Pilgrim? That's an interesting name," I commented, fascinated by the uniqueness of it all.

Lost in my hazy memories, I questioned them about how I had ended up here. "Wait, I'm in Lunaria right now? How did I get here?" I asked calmly, struggling to piece together the fragments of my recollection.

"Well, we saw you suddenly appear right in front of us while we were fighting the shadows," they explained matter-of-factly.

"They said a bright light emerged, vanquishing the shadows instantly. After that, they brought you here, unconscious," one of them added.

"Well, that's certainly strange," I murmured, realizing that I had been overwhelmed by the shadows. Determined to confront them myself, I voiced my intention. "Anyway, I need to go back. These creatures have invaded my home, and I have to stop them," I said with a tinge of worry.

"But wouldn't that be dangerous, considering your home is engulfed by shadows?" they cautioned.

"You should strengthen yourself first. How about enrolling in our academy?" they suggested, encouraging me to join forces with them.

"Oh?" I responded, surprised by their proposal. They were genuinely concerned about my well-being, understanding that I couldn't face the shadows alone.

"Yes, your strength against them is enough, even if that bright light is no longer present," they reassured me.

The twins marveled at my unique sword, commenting on its distinctiveness. "Well, yeah, I think that's why I'm here. Back at home, I found myself trapped in a monotonous routine. So, fate must have brought me here to improve my sword skills even further," I mused, sharing my desire to become an adventurer.

"Very well, I believe these items belong to you," they said, returning the things I had lost in the forest. As I examined myself, I realized my wounds had vanished, leaving no trace of scars.

"How does this work?" I inquired, curious if it involved magic. They proceeded to share their own experiences in Pilgrim, revealing that they had been taught magic before becoming maids in the kingdom. It sounded truly amazing. After further conversation, it was time for me to awaken fully, now that my body was ready.

"Let's be friends, alright?" I suggested, smiling warmly at the two sisters, hoping to ally.

"Alright, but we'll still keep an eye on you," they replied, assuring me that they would monitor my actions closely.

"It's great to meet both of you. I'm still curious, though. How can you be twins but belong to different races?" I asked, intrigued by this mystery. They explained that it was a long story, promising to share it when we had the time. However, they informed me that there was no time for it now, as they had many tasks to attend to. As we walked outside the academy, we decided to grab some food and head to the stadium to meet Camilla.

"It's truly wonderful to be here," I remarked, embracing the newfound sense of belonging.
