In the vast universe, a deity would be likened to an ant in front of a lesser god let alone a supreme god. There was a certain group made up of ten lesser deities, three of whom stood among them as the strongest. They were the Lord of summer and harvest, the lady of hundred flower blooms and the eternal inquisitor.
Although these three were superior among their peers, they still knew they were lesser deities. They didn't even come close to the magnificence of beings like supreme deities let alone gods. In a bid to become stronger they searched for comrades and companions with similar interests and banded together to form the Ten Lesser Deity Association. All this was done in a bid to grow stronger.
It wasn't long before another century passed and they held their centurial convention, this time to discuss how to increase their respective celestial Authorities in order to become gods.
Celestial Authorities could be loosely described as powers one had to attain in order to be regarded as a deity.
So they convened, ideas were thrown which way and that way and finally they agreed to found a new world where they would impose their will on the lives of their subjects and in turn their subjects would grow dependable on them worship them and consequently lead to an increase in their celestial authorities.
This world they would call Asteria.
They would fill it with their own creations, both living and non-living. So they set out to accomplish what they desired. With their celestial authorities they reinstated fallen planetary bodies and merged them then instilled their authorities in the now whole planetary body to make it habitable and hence Asteria was born. This together with the creation of lifeforms took quite a considerable amount of time.
It was not long before they realized that they were not as strong as they thought. The creation of a higher lifeform was not something mere deities could easily take part in. The only option left for them was to burn their lifeforce which in turn would lead to them reincarnating in Asteria as sentient beings of their choosing.
It was truly not an easy choice but still for their greater cause, four deities volunteered to burn their lifeforce each with the assurance that they would receive guidance from the six remaining deities in order for them to return to deity-hood once more.
Using a rather special but common technique they burned their lifeforce and their remaining energies was used to generate their bodies whilst the rest was absorbed by the world of Asteria. This was because the deity energy would go a long way in contributing to strengthening the natural laws of Asteria as a planetary entity and also the remainder of the absorbed energy would be given back into the world in various forms; an example being as an inheritance of the deities celestial authorities. This was one of the reasons the four deities decided to reincarnate - the possibility of acquiring back their powers.
Hence they reincarnated in Asteria as two different races each as man and woman from their respective chosen race. The deities that burned their lifeforce were partners hence it was an easy decision as they desired to be together even after they reincarnated.
Years after years passed and yet the level of growth in the remaining six deities celestial authority remained at a low level.
The four deities had successfully reincarnated as sentient living beings in Asteria but the only problem was that the race they had reincarnated as took too long to grow and reproduce.
To wait as a deity would not be any hard task after all time is all one has got but in their case time was not on their side as a rather peculiar event was going to shake the starfield, something the ten deities had discovered through divination. Therefore they needed to gain power enough to allow that they weather the coming storm. Even after a lot of years had passed they still had not gained near enough celestial authority to be close to being called gods.
Hence a convention was held once again by the remaining six deities, this time to discuss countermeasures of how to populate Asteria. None was willing to burn their lifeforce to reincarnate as it had proven to have its own demerits.
Hence a 'fantastic' idea was put forward.
"Let us abduct living beings from other worlds."
In their defence, they had accounted for foreseen and unforeseen circumstances and it really seemed like a sound plan.
They were not going to invade worlds with active gods neither were they going to invade worlds with powerful gods. They had made a plan to invade worlds with weaker gods or deities and where most of their celestial authorities were dormant or passive - technically non-existent.
How marvellous they must have thought to themselves. The answer to all their problems was in front of their eyes the whole time, was it not?
Fools truly know not the error of their ways until it has come back to bite them.
A deity may not be anywhere near as powerful as a god but still abducting a few mortal souls and transmigrating them to a new world is a fairly easy task in all honesty.
Alas!
How successful they were.
A world that could only be previously described as relatively barren of sentient beings was now flourishing with races of all kinds exploring and populating the world with their spawn. It was bliss the deities were just as ecstatic as they were expectant.
Finally, their long laid out plans were coming together. The next order of business, to grow stronger through piety from their subjects.
Or so they thought.
Deities should remain as deities and should operate as their domains dictate. A bird in hand is worth two in the bush. One that does not appreciate what they have, often lose all that they have.
The Universe is vast and endless, its laws and restrictions boundless and omnipresent. How could mere lesser deities hope to cheat their way through an enigma that eludes even gods?
Their reckoning was at hand.
They had overstepped and trampled everywhere they had gone, leaving muddy footprints all over, and when it was time for the great inspector to carry out his regular rounds across the vast depths of the universe it did not take them long to discover the footprints the lesser deities had left behind.
In their little heist, they had forgotten an important law, a rule, the most basic of all that keeps the universe in check; that is the law of balance, give and take. One just does not remove and expect the void to fill the vacuum. By doing that a false positive situation was created fooling the eye, but the great inspector sees all and knows all for they are the universe itself. Hence like a wolf smelling out its prey, the deities were sniffed out. Their wrongs were laid out in the open so that they may know why they were being accused.
The inspector played the role of judge and jury. Through the deities careless meddling, they had caused a nasty ripple effect in the fate of countless other beings causing massive repercussions that they had to answer for.
Astonished by the sudden change in plot, they tried running away even hiding away in distant worlds. However, the Universe is omniscient and omnipresent there is no running away. They had to surrender to their fate.
They were devoured, stripped, of their celestial authorities, bare down to their souls. Their souls were sentenced to reincarnate down in Asteria to fix the mess they had brought upon themselves. Their celestial authorities were used partly to cultivate the new world of Asteria for it to attain a figment of sentience and the rest was used to mend the mess the six deities had brought upon the universe.
Although the oddity may have not been as serious as to affect vast areas of the universe, if left unchecked it would probably have caused a significant shift in the future events to come. Hence drastic measures were a necessary action for the safeguarding of the future.
The inspector then cleaned up the rest, set a few restrictions for the universe's new baby(Asteria) for it to grow in its own peculiar way without disturbance from bothersome forces that can not keep their hands off glittery things. The great inspector then left having done its work with due diligence.
