Evo's POV
"Nope, I want to go home."
Andrew's phone kept ringing, but I also canceled the call. Bella quickly stood up and left Kaycee and me. We didn't stop her. We just watched her leave.
"Haist is this killjoy," Kaycee said.
"Let it go. Let's not force it. Bella might be exhausted too." I said. "It's better to go home."
"What? We're not going to celebrate anymore." Kaycee asked. "Because she doesn't want to come, you don't want to go."
"It's not like that. Bella helped me get to know you, so why not celebrate with her?"
"Fine. I will never win." Kaycee said. She stood up and began walking towards the shop's exterior.
I immediately followed Kaycee. I pursued her and reached her before she could even mount her motorcycle. She stared at me as I stood in front of her.
"Thank you, Kay. I said, "You probably don't realize how much acceptance as a detective means to me. Unlike you, who can freely follow your desires, I frequently feel trapped by my own abilities, like I'm in some invisible prison. It makes me feel inadequate and different. But now, I've found..."
"Do you realize that there are other abnormal beings in the world, and you are not alone?"
I glanced at Kaycee. "Yeah, I thought I was alone."
Kaycee took a deep breath. "That's how I felt then. You don't know what I've been through."
"I know a good place where we can talk about... You know... abnormalities." I chuckled.
"Okay. Let's go." Kaycee winked at me, then got on her motorcycle, and I hurried to my car.
-
"Wow, this place is nice. I know Tagaytay is far from Manila."
Kaycee and I sat in the back of my car, staring at the dark side of the Taal volcano. We reached Tagaytay in about 30 minutes from the cafe we came from. There was a 24/7 convenience store nearby, and we bought cans of beer and chips.
"I was born with the ability. My parents are doctors. Ricardo and Melissa Rivera. Are you familiar with them?"
"Yeah, that sounds familiar. They are neurosurgeons, right?"
Kaycee nodded. "Yeah, but did you know they didn't know I have kinesis?"
"Really? How do you hide it?"
Kaycee smiled. "Bloody training."
I nodded and drank a beer. "You. Does anyone else know about your abilities besides us?" Kaycee asked.
"Yes, my cousin."
"Good for you. It's challenging when no one knows what you have. You feel like even if you explain it to them, they won't understand." Kaycee glanced at me. "They don't believe it. It was difficult then. It's like carrying the world on your shoulders alone."
"Maybe that's not why you helped me get on the team," I said, glancing at her slightly before drinking some beer.
Kaycee chuckled. "Nope, not really. I have other reasons."
"What reason? And why do you think I can help?"
Kaycee frowned at me. "How did you know?"
I remembered that Kaycee had no idea what my ability was. I don't know if he knows something or is just pretending.
"If I can't help, you won't take me, will you?"
Kaycee chuckled. "Yeah, that's right. No way."
Kaycee lifted her hand, and a big stone flew into the air, hitting me on the neck.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry!" Kaycee said it suddenly.
"It's fine." The stone hitting my neck caused pain, so I rubbed it.
"I'm sorry," Kaycee said again. Kaycee handed me my phone, which fell onto the gravel rocks.
I just smiled, but inside my mind, I knew what was bothering him.
-
I didn't fall asleep right away when I got home. I remembered what I had read in Kaycee's mind. Bella is the one who needs help, but why? It's still a mystery to me how Kaycee is sure that I can help Bella. Does he already know my abilities? However, it doesn't appear to be the case, as he allows me to access his mind. She has kinesis and can create energy to block my knowledge, but she didn't use it. What is she up to?
-
"Wake up, sleepyhead," Andrew said. "Your parents are waiting for you in the dining room."
I woke up when someone was shaking me in my bed. I'd only slept for three hours, so instead of getting out of bed, I wrapped myself in a comforter and put a pillow over my head. Later, Andrew pulled the comforter, which exposed my body in the cold room.
"Damn it, bro, there's no school today," I said, annoyed. "Can I stay in my room for at least 8 hours until I get some sleep?"
"Not allowed," he said. "You have to come down and join us for breakfast."
"But I'm still sleepy!" I complained.
Andrew stood in front of me, staring at me. Andrew placed the comforter on the bed's side.
"It was an easy day for you to get home earlier. Did you think your parents didn't know what you did? Their telepathy is even stronger than yours." Andrew chuckled.
I sat on the bed, stretching to show off his muscular arms and chest. I used to sleep naked, wearing only my boxers. I stood up and walked towards the bathroom. Andrew followed me.
"What's the mark on your neck? Let me check." Andrew tilted my head until my neck was visible. "Where did you get that?"
I didn't know the stone that hit me last night would mark my neck.
"Shit, bro, did you have your first experience last night?" Andrew asked in surprise. Andrew believed that an experienced woman had dominated me during my first encounter.
"Silly, nothing happened!" I said, annoyed. "Seriously? Do you think I just had a one-night stand with the USBO member?"
"So you're still a virgin? Despite having a mark on your neck, you're still a virgin." Andrew said it with a laugh.
"Haist, sex doesn't matter to me because I'm more interested in someone now. And because I'm interested in that someone, I will find out everything about them." I uttered those words, swiftly pushing Andrew's hand away from my neck.
Andrew chuckled. "Whatever you say, you're still a virgin."
Annoyed, I entered the bathroom. Andrew even knocked on the door. "Uncle is waiting in the dining room, so don't spend too much time jerking."
"Get out of my room, Andrew, or I'll force you to drink my load," I growled.
Andrew left the room, laughing. Meanwhile, I went straight to the shower room, immediately turned on the shower, and let the cold water flow over my head and down my body. Bella suddenly came to mind. I couldn't help but smile every time I remembered her.
"Damn, she's so interesting," Evo whispered. "I want to know more about her."
-
I caught up with my parents in the dining room. My parents wanted us to eat together, but maybe because they were bored waiting for me, they ate first. I immediately sat on the other side of the table next to Andrew because my mother didn't want me to sit next to her seat. My mom wants to see me, so I always sit on the other side of the table, facing each other. Our maid arrived and served me immediately. The maid poured fresh juice into my glass because I hadn't drunk anything hot in the morning.
"So, how was your trip on Subic?" her mother, Mildred, began. "Did you enjoy the place?"
"Yeah, we didn't even talk when you got here. Did you enjoy being with them?" my dad asked.
Before responding to her question, I cast a quick glance at her mother. "I liked the place and the organization's members," I said.
My mom turned to my dad. "You know the hotel they are staying at, right?"
"The members of the organization commented on your exceptional parenting skills. They envy me."
"They should be envious, of course. You have everything that people your age dream of. "You have money, fame, attractive looks, and cool parents," my mom said. She giggled. "Of course, you boast about your uncle Julian, who is cooler than me."
"Yeah, that's true. I'm uncertain, but I believe Mom's statement was overly dramatic. If this is true, I shouldn't brag about everything."
My mom smiled. "That's good."
My dad, Andrew, and I just smiled and then continued eating.
After breakfast, my mom left. Initially, she was on her way to her foundation, where she had an appointment with an unknown individual. Andrew and I stood in the garage, preparing to send my dad off.
Dad glanced at me. I was standing next to Andrew, wearing simple clothes. "Tell me, son. Are you enjoying being with the organization's members?" My dad inquired.
"Yeah, I found out they are also happy to hang out with me," I said. "Especially with Bella Sebastian and Kaycee Rivera, the university's top scholars. They are a positive influence on me, Dad."
My dad took a deep breath. "I'm pleased with it. But wasn't Bella your girlfriend?"
"Hey Uncle, do you think Evo will ever get a girlfriend? He's so particular. Maybe he's expecting his girlfriend to be just like the anime characters he watches," Andrew remarked out of the blue. "I mean, he's still never been with anyone, right?"
My dad chuckled. "Haist, you know a lot, Andrew. Sex isn't everything. Remember that, Andrew, and even you, Evo, even if a woman shows a motive, you shouldn't sleep with her instantly. We call this process "getting to know each other."
"Uncle Evo is pure and innocent, so you don't have a problem with him," Andrew said.
"And Dad might have a problem with you," I said.
My dad just chuckled. He put his hand on my shoulder. "Set me a meeting with the organization."
"What?" I asked in astonishment. "Why?"
"I want to meet them, of course," my dad said. He got into the car. "Maybe dinner later?"
"Okay, Dad, I'll tell them. If they agree, I'll call you."
"That's good. See you later."
"Bye, Dad, take care."
Andrew and I watched Dad's car leave. I immediately turned around and entered the house. I took my phone from my pocket.
"What happened to your phone?" Andrew inquired, noticing the cracked screen.
I didn't notice it when Kaycee handed it to me last night. "It fell last night. I didn't notice the broken screen." I said.
"Let's go out and fix that," Andrew said with a smile.
I turned to my cousin. "What's going on? Did you want to go out?"
Andrew just chuckled and didn't answer.
