"Mom, how are you?" I asked. "Should we take her to the hospital?" I didn't want to wait for my father or Uncle Mikel to answer, so I didn't care if they didn't. I grabbed my trusted phone, which fit perfectly in my hand because it was slim. "I'll call for an ambulance."
I couldn't believe how quickly Uncle Mikel grabbed my hand and stopped me from calling.
"Ate is just fine."
I looked at Mom for a moment. As soon as she heard what I said, her face turned pale, which showed how surprised she was. Even though Dad was caring for my mom, I caught a quick glimpse of his face. He still had a look of surprise on his face. Uncle Mikel sat down next to me once more. His keen eyes noticed a slight change in how my mom acted. Mom looked at me after, sipping water to quench her thirst.
"What the hell are you talking about, Evo? Mom's words carried a clear feeling of irritation. Her eyes seemed so sharp that they could cut right through me.
