Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

Kisas went inside the blue sea leaving Agaton alone. After sometime the entire Nosega realm came to check if Agaton was okay. Her mom and sister Meddy were very sorry that the could not help her to fight against the scorpions.

"Mom, you gave birth to me, you raised me, you loved me and never scolded me whenever I made fun of you. As for you sister Meddy, you always came to my rescue just like how an older sister does, you used to show me life in every sense. So please don't embarrass me by apologising, I have a responsibility to safeguard you and keep you safe which I must fulfill at the end of the day." That was Agaton's warm reply.

The mother and daughters trio hugged each other. They all left the blue sea in their serpent form. Agaton never told her realm that King Kisas of the blue sea helped her to defeat the deadly scorpions. She felt guilty about that but there was nothing she could do as none of the serpents would be pleased to hear that except for her sister Meddy.

It was now her first day to repay King Kisas for his help, Agaton had to spend twenty days with king Kisas.

"A combination of two powerful beings that hail from different realms that all poles apart can prove to be disastrous Nogapele." The old man pointed out.

"What do you mean? Does that mean that I took a wrong step in the past?" I asked the old man surprised.

"I don't know my dear, let's watch all these and see where it leads to." The old man said simply.

Agaton and Kisas had an amazing bond when days went by, Agaton would normally entertain Kisas with her jokes, her dance moves as well as her music. They grew fond of each other in each passing day. They became extremely close at the eleventh day.

Agaton became surprised when she never heard any serpent ask her about her recent behaviour. She was surprised that no serpent caught her with Kisas yet, because serpents are known for their spying skills.

"Sir even I'm confused as to how nobody found out about all that yet, how come?" I asked.

"Someone used to protect you my dear." The old man answered.

I waited to see who it was that was protecting me and so was Agaton. Agaton on the 12th day sat on a cliff near the blue sea.

"Kisas if I asked to be friends with you, would you agree?" Agaton asked gazing into Kisas's eyeballs.

"Of course I don't mind being friends with you empress of serpents." Kisas response with his innocent blue eyes glittering.

Agaton suddenly felt shy, she got up and started running but Kisas ran after her. To show that she was just being mischievous, she let Kisas catch up to her. Kisas held her and he gazed into her brown eyes which were mesmerising. They shared an eye lock for more than ten minutes.

"Why were you running around?" Kisas asked as soon as he came back to his senses.

"You are no fun, this is how active I am Mister." Agaton answered sounding like a twelve year old girl.

"So in some other words you are trying to say that I am not as active as you are. Don't underestimate the abilities of a merman." Kisas warned.

"It doesn't make sense to underestimate something that does not exist." Agaton challenged indirectly.

"Are you challenging me to show you my abilities young lady?" Kisas asked.

"Yes I am, and I'm not a young lady for you king Kisas." Agaton accepted that she was challenging him all along.

"Okay, Challenge accepted." Kisas accepted her challenge effortlessly.

"Are you sure you can deal with the repercussions of losing to a woman serpent?" Agaton put fuel in the burning fire.

"Aren't you talking too much for your own good?"

"No King Kisas, I am speaking just fine."

"Okay, we will meet here tomorrow to participate in various activities to determine who the best is." Kisas suggested.

"I have got no problem, let the best candidate win." Agaton supported.

Kisas snapped his fingers and he disappeared. Agaton took her serpent form to reach the Nogase Mountain faster. When she got there, it was just like any other day. Everyone was enjoying themselves, no tears, no fighting, just a peaceful environment to breathe freely in and she felt very bad to be meeting Kisas behind their backs and the worst thing being that he was the king of the blue sea. Someone pulled her aside when she was still lost in her thoughts.

"What kind of misbehavior is this!" Agaton almost shouted. When she rotated her head she found her sister Meddy with her arms crossed over her chest. Agaton was happy that it was her sister but she knew her sister enough to tell that she was very annoyed with her.

"Hey sister, I'm so very happy to see you." Agaton greeted her sister cheerfully ignoring the serious look on her sister's face.

"Do not pretend as if you cannot see that I am very mad at you Agaton!" Meddy yelled at her.

"Meddy, I can see but I don't know why you are angry. Will you please tell me why you are angry sweet sister?" Agaton jokingly reacted to her sister's outburst.

"I know that you have been hanging out with King Kisas lately." Meddy revealed.

"What...how..how did you know?" Agaton stuttered.

"Ever since he helped you to defeat the scorpion King." Meddy replied.

"Explain more, how did you know?" Agaton asked getting serious.

"Don't try to intimidate me, I'm not afraid of that ugly look on your face but I will explain. When the scorpion King ceased our cave with enchantments I knew you were already out and I knew that you could not defeat him and his army by yourself. I was rather surprised when we found you alive and the scorpions dead. But then I asked myself why you chose to fight the scorpions near the blue sea. I knew that if a magical creature helped you he or she must have asked for something in return, so I that decided I would follow you whenever you go out to see if you would need my help. When I saw you meeting with King Kisas I thought something bad would happen but then your bond was rather surprising, then I knew that you both do not know anything about the enmity between serpents and mermaids. I decided to help you cover up so that no one else learns about this but this time you have crossed the limit." Meddy fully explained.
