Chapter 196 - Chapter 195

Sounds good. Thanks. I'll see you tomorrow morning, then."

As she heard those words coming out of the tiny transponder snail in her hand, Khalifa briefly frowned and stowed it away. She had already bugged the Galley-la company's headquarters, along other vital places, with listening devices.

Though sadly, the listening devices never picked up any information on her and her colleague's objectives for coming to Water Seven, they provided a myriad of intel, such as the whereabouts and status of the many pirate crews who came here to have their ships fixed.

Khalifa, of course, quickly forwarded the intel to her superiors, and her efforts proved beneficial in catching many wanted criminals. And now she had a chance to do that again, provided she could gain more information about the pirate currently leaving Iceburg's office.

She had already read a report on the pirate.

"Johnny Silver Hand, a pirate from West Blue, came out of nowhere, with no existing records or any prior information to his whereabouts before his debut in Ballywood as a bounty hunter, wielding unknown technology and using secret world government techniques."

"The pirate claims to have learned the marine six powers himself after reading about them in a pirate's journal, which he accidentally found. And that an unknown scientist had implanted the unknown technology into his body."

Or so the reports said. It goes without saying Khalifa found the intel sorely lacking, with too much emphasis on the pirate's words and guessing on the marine intelligence team's part.

But it didn't matter. The pirate is here now, and Khalifa intended to neutralize him or gain enough information for the marines to take him down if that wasn't possible.

She adjusted her glasses and shifted in her seat, taking a posture that would better emphasize her cleavage as she heard footsteps approaching her post.

"Khalifa, right?" the pirate said as he stopped in front of her desk, causing her to look up, nodding at him with a deadpan expression.

"Iceburg said you'd have the new wanted posters for my crew and myself?" the pirate remarked, his eyes shamelessly ogling her body as he didn't bother to hide it.

She didn't mind it, of course. She wore revealing clothes for a reason, as they distracted the opposite sex, making it easier for her to loosen their tongues, among other things, but she didn't meet anyone as brazen about it as this man.

"Correct," Khalifa replied, adjusting her glasses as she opened a drawer in her office. "These came out about a month ago. Were you not aware of them?" She asked, hoping to figure out where the pirate and his crew were for the past month.

The pirate and his crew seemed to rely on eternal poses to sail from island to island, making it impossible to precisely track them by predicting their next destination according to where the log pose would point next.

"Things have been quite hectic for us in Alabasta, so we took a little break away from it all," the pirate replied with a shrug as she found his and his crew's wanted posters.

"In other words, you were hiding to lick your wounds and recover after the defeat?" Khalifa provocatively asked, raising an eyebrow as she offered the wanted posters to the pirate, hoping to agitate him enough to reveal more information.

"Something along those lines," the pirate calmly replied, still lazily smiling as he took the wanted posters, giving them a brief look before stowing them away.

"So when do you get off work?" the pirate said as he leaned on Khalifa's desk, looking her straight in the eye.

"I don't see how that's any of your business," Khalifa replied, adjusting her glasses as she raised an eyebrow in bemusement at the pirate.

"Course, it's my business. You can't show me around Water Seven before you get off work now, can you?" The pirate matter-of-factly remarked as he chuckled, waving a hand.

"Are you asking me out on a date? That's subtle sexual harassment," Khalifa asked, deliberately looking the pirate up and down, giving the impression she was thinking about it.

"I don't do subtlety. When I see something I want, I go for it," the pirate replied, spreading his arms with a smirk. "And I already told you were my type as soon as we met," he stated, lowering his hands.

"So, when do you get off work?" the pirate asked, moving forward as he leaned on Khalifa's desk again.

'I can't get any information about the target with such a short conversation, and playing along could provide a chance to neutralize and capture him if done well...' Khalifa thought, adjusting her glasses as she gave the pirate another once over.

Khalifa slightly smiled as she wrote something on a piece of paper on her desk and gave it to the pirate. "Pick me up from this address at six in the evening," she said as the pirate took a look at the sheet of paper, smiling as he did.

"Now stop impeding my work, and get out of here," Khalifa concluded as she shooed away the pirate with a wave of her hand, turning back to the paperwork on her desk.

"Yes, ma'am," the pirate remarked with a smile as he turned around and left, waving goodbye.

...

"What you up to, captain?" Byron asked as he approached Johnny, who was preparing to leave the Black Pearl after coming back to pick up some spending money. "I've been asking around, and I figured out where the best brothels and bars are. Want to come along?" he asked with a smile, ticking his face close to Johnny's face while wiggling his eyebrows.

"Too close. Too creepy," Johnny said with a scowl, pushing away Byron's face with his hand. "And I can't. I have a date," he added, a wide grin splitting his face.

"Oh! As expected of the captain! You're not wasting any time," Byron said with a chuckle, sounding impressed as he rubbed his hands. "So who's the lucky girl?" he asked, raising an eyebrow as he looked at Johnny with a tilted head.

"She's a CP9 agent," Johnny flatly replied, only smiling when Byron almost choked on his own saliva, looking at Johnny with a face of pure incredulity.

"How the hell did you find a CP9 agent already...?! And how the hell did you make her agree to go on a date with you?!" Byron asked with twitching eyes as he shoved his face into Johnny's face again.

"I have my ways," Johnny replied with a smirk, shrugging his shoulders. "And too close!" Johnny added with a scowl, pushing away Byron's face in annoyance.

"Are you sure that's... smart?" Byron asked as he took a step back, scratching his head, looking at Johnny with a skeptical expression on his face.

"Well, she wants to kill me, capture me, or get some information out of me..." Johnny replied with a careless shrug, trailing off. "And I want to get into her pants," he flatly added, waving a hand to the side.

"I'll just have to get into her pants before she can accomplish her goals, get out of there, and that will be it," he explained, matter-of-factly nodding his head as if he was a sage imparting wisdom upon Byron.

"Either way, she won't be a threat," Johnny stated as he jumped off the ship. "I'll be back tomorrow morning if things go smoothly, or late at night today if not," he concluded as he flew into the air.
