Chapter 3 - Kindley Village

This new body of mine is great. I've ran 10 kilometers in 5 minutes without getting tired which is insane because I was just a lazy gamer who didn't exercise before. Being able to run like Captain America was never a thought for me.

Anyway I finally made it to the Village and from what I can see, It's the definition of poverty. The people are living in mud huts, the land is barren and crops are dead. From what I could tell, they just survived an attack too because some of the hits are on fire.

As I walk further down the street I see people walking out of their homes and hiding places watching me. The thing is, most of these people have animal ears and tails. I continue to walk to the largest building in the center of the village. Many of the villagers are building a crowd and following me.

When I reach the center building, an old man with bear ears is standing at the entrance.

" Hello my Lord. What can we do for you?" The old man asks

He's obviously nervous of me but I guess I do look kinda scary with my armor and all.

" Sir, tell me what happened here. Why is this place so run down?" I ask

In the large building I can see a young boy and woman with bear ears peaking out of the window.

" We were recently attacked by goblins my Lord. A clan of them have settled nearby."

" What about the Lord of the region. What is he doing about it."

The old man gives a look of concern." There is no Lord, this land is barren and considered useless so no Lord wants to be responsible for it. We can barely make it by as it is. Without a Lord to send soldiers, we will be dead soon."

I look around and see the people in the crowds with dead eyes that lost all hope.

" Alright, If that's the case then I'll deal with the goblin problem." I need the points anyway.

The people however, look at me in shock. " My lord you can't be serious, even though goblins are weak there are hundreds of the within the clan. It would take a battalion of soldiers to clear them out, but even then it could take weeks."

" There's nothing to worry about, I can handle the goblins, but I won't be doing ot for free."

What I said seemed to spook the villagers because they now look at me with a bit of fear. " My Lord, we don't have very much money nor anything of value. I don't think we can afford it."

"Don't worry, I don't want anything from you. What I want is to be the Lord responsible for you and your lands. I'll be sure to help this place to get back on track."

The old man looks at me with doubt but doesn't disagree. " My Lord, if you can help is then we are willing to serve."

" Good. Now point me to these goblins."
