Gravix hated complications. It wasn't as if he didn't run into them all the time though. Throughout his life, even when he was still part of Hydra Head, Gravix had done many studies in Lost Magic. Magic that was so old, that it was hardly used by anyone anymore. And of course, with the experimentations he tended to perform on these different types of magicks, Gravix tended to run into a lot of complications.
Being used to something though, didn't necessarilly mean liking it. With his hulking silver armor and his metalic lion-like mask, Gravix didn't look like the scientific type, however, his interest in the world surpassed his desire to fight, even though he did weild a particularly rare brand of Gravity Magic. After Erza Scarlet had saved his life many months ago, he had sworn his allegience to her and Fairy Tail. The area on his armor which used to hold the Hydra Head insignia now held the symbol of Fairy Tail, and ever since then, he had done more research related things then fighting.
Whenever he took a job, rather then taking the jobs that specified taking down bandits, or protecting an assasination target, he chose the jobs that required more brainwork, such as deciphering an ancient book, or coming up with a new spell to showcase at a convention. He had particularly exceled at all of those, and he became particularly popular as the 'Brainiac of Fairy Tail.'1
Gravix didn't mind titles though, he just liked doing research.
At the moment, Gravix was doing just that. He was currently sitting in one of the larger tents in the war camp at a long rectangular table, putting drops of a mysterious substance onto a brownish green scale. As it so happened...this was one of Slither's scales, which had been left behind after he last attacked Mikoto.
Gravix murmured to himself as he wrote some notes down on a pad next to him. It was crucial that they learned as much about their enemies as they could, wars weren't won just by hitting things...even if that was how Natsu Dragneel liked to do it. Though he had once been the 35th rank in Hydra Head, he hadn't been in the mega knowhow in terms of which members saw all the top secret plans..so his information on Hydra Head was sketchy at best. In fact, all he knew about Plasmoid until he had been captured, was standing near him without sunscreen or Dragon Slayer augmented endurance, was not a smart thing.
The flap at the entrance of the tent flew open and Index walked in with a huff.
Gravix sighed. "I see you got into another argument. What is it this time?"
"Levy and Gajeel won't let me go with them to hunt down those stupid Wyrms!" Index said angrilly. "And they didn't have a problem with it before!"
"Before, they didn't know it was you." said Gravix. "To be quite honest, I don't think you're suited to battlefields."
"Grrr.." Index growled. "You're just like Touma!"
"And Mr. Kamijou cares for you, and so do the rest of us." said Gravix. "So heed our words and do what is wise, not just what you want."
"And now Mrs. Short Hair has gone and run off without us." Index mumbled. "Is this entire world falling apart?"
"Yes." said Gravix. "How fast it falls apart, and whether it does so completely, will depend on this war though. And Ms. Misaka. Hmmm...what's this?"
Gravix took a tiny pair of tweezers with his astoundingly delicate large hands and picked up what appeared to be a small gleaming particle on the base of Slither's scale. "This..if my sight holds right...is silver...but what is such a rare metal doing on this, if such a metal does not exist in the northern regions?"
Gravix examined the tiny piece of silver for a moment before cursing and throwing the tweezers down. "Those bastards!! They couldn't have!!"
"Wh-what!?" Index said with frightful surprise at Gravix's sudden outburst. "What happened!?"
"This silver...I've seen it before...it's Argentumias the Silver Dragon Slayer!!" said Gravix. "He leaves silver dust as a means of tracking....Slither didn't leave his scale by accident!! He knew I would be gathering small pieces of things to study!!"
Gravix got up and threw the tent flap open. "Go Index!! Find Erza!! Tell her we need to move now!! Argentumias may be equal to Aurumnus Rager..but when he wants to he can cause a whole lot more mayhem then we would like...go!!"
Without questioning it, Index immediately ran out of the tent in the direction of Erza's tent.
Gravix went back into his tent and took Slither's scale to a small beaker of clear liquid. He dropped the scale in which began to disolve into nothingness along with any silver particles that were on it.
"Trying to throw me off the scent?" said a voice.
Gravix turned around to find Argentumias standing across the table, his silver eyes staring coldly and without feeling.
"How long have you been there?" said Gravix.
"Long enough.." said Argentumias. "I'm rather good at concealing myself when I need to. My blood brother Aurumnus always liked the more rambunctious approach."
"The fact that you didn't kill Index before she left means you're not here to mess with our group...you're here to silence me.." said Gravix. "Why? Diablo and Black Whisper consider my knowlege of the guild too small to be of any threat. It's why I have remained alive all this time.."
"Yes." said Argentumias. "But that doesn't excuse the fact that you were Hydra Head's most brilliant researcher...we can't have you somehow discovering a means to avert Plague's magic can we?"
"Plague?" Gravix's voice grew fearful. "Don't tell me...Black Whisper is using project World Darkness!?"
"He's already used it." said Argentumias. "Plague's power is spreading over the continent with help from Azuma's roots as we speak."
"No!" said Gravix moving towards the tent entrance. "I have to warn the others!"
"BAAAMMMMSHIINNNK!!!" a long silver samurai blade came out of Argentumias's palm as he sliced his arm out wards, slicing a gash in the shoulder of Gravix's armor. Argentumias stepped in front of Gravix as the silver blade retracted. "You're not going to warn anyone...remember? I'm here to silence you."
Before Argentumias could say anything else Gravix thrust a palm outwards, and a massive blast of gravitational energy rammed into Argentumias and sent him flying through the tent. Gravix stepped out of the tent and looked around as he saw that his entire tent area had been trapped in a dome of shining silver. On the other side of the metal dome wall, Gravix could hear other members of Fairy Tail ramming against it...trying to break it.
"It's no use." said Aurumnus as he walked towards Gravix under the silver dome. "My silver is unbreakable..even by the Iron Dragon Gajeel. My mentor and Dragon...Silvarax...his scales have never been broken even by the great Igneel. I wield the most durable of all Dragon Slayer magic.."
"You're wrong.." said Gravix. "Silver is only the third most durable Dragon Slayer element. The most durable of all the Dragon Slayers are Ice and Diamond."2
"You misunderstand." said Argentumias. "I meant, I am the most durable Dragon Slayer...as no Ice Dragon Slayers nor Diamond Dragon Slayers exist.."
Gravix chuckled. "As always...Diablo has rubbed off on all of you with your utter pride. If you had done any proper research, you would have known there is a level 3 esper in Academy City who was blessed by the dragon Lusterias of the Diamond Caves...and you would have known...that my magic has a whole lot more to it then I ever let on.."
Gravix raised his fists, immediately a massive sphere of glack energy formed above him. "Gravity Art: Collapsing Sphere!!"
Gravix threw the sphere at Argentumias, who attempted to dodge. However, the Silver Dragon Slayer was suddenly pulled back in mid air, smashing into the sphere in a huge explosion.
Argentumias fell to his knees, holding his arm. "I couldn't dodge...?"
"My magic..when in full force, isn't so easily avoided." said Gravix. "My moves pull you into them...sometimes...I don't even need to fire the move...I just make it, and the foes come soaring closer! For example: Gravity Move Point!!"
Gravix held out a finger and light seemed to distort around it as gravity itself poured in from all directions and began condensing into the one point on his finger. Chairs, the tent, the table...everything except the immensibly durable silver got sucked into a that point in a blink of an eye.
Argentumias yelled out in pain as his body was condensed and completely sucked into that point in space.
"Game set, and match." said Gravix with a satisfied grunt. "And now, to clean up the mess."
Suddenly a point in space right next to Gravix shattered like glass and Argentumias ripped through the gaping hole, letting it swirl shut behind him. In a flash Argentumias stabbed his arm through Gravix's chest with an arm which had turned into a silver battle axe.
Gravix coughed blood out of his mask in surprise..."H-how?"
"Silver is not one to easily succumb to ordinary physics.." said Argentumias. "Especially not when it's magic...only lightning is capable of tearing the metal that flows through life."
"R-Railgun.." coughed Gravix.
"Don't worry..I won't have to fight Mikoto Misaka..." said Argentumias. "After all...why do you think Dravis made Exisio? He'll be especially pleased to finally bite into that girl's flesh....goodbye Gravix Terras, if only you hadn't joined the losing side."
Argentumias puffed up his cheeks. "Roar of The Silver Dragon!!!"
Argentumias opened his mouth wide and shot a massive streaking silver beam. When the beam dissapated, Gravix's armor fell to the ground in a heap...nothing was left of the body inside.3
"The age of the flapping fairy is over." said Argentumias. "The age of the ravenous Hydra is now.."
