My teeth bleed. My spine aches. I want to cry for help, but most of all I don't want to fail my brother. Without him, mom and Cecilia, I don't have anyone in the world to care for me and for me to care for.
I dust my "interview-perfect" pencil skirt, want to run but have absolutely no clue where that devil is hiding his damned face. Surprisingly, he didn't take my phone, so I call Cece and hopshe picks up.
"We sent people after him, don't worry. He punched because he was caught. He's going to do time."
"Where are you?"
"We're heading to the police office. You actually slept, Ora. Should I send Brian to get you?"
"No, you saw him die in that stupid vision and I'm still not reasssured. Would you be able to come yourself?"
"Okay. I'll need to find a cab though. Hold on and go rince your mouth."
"I'm scared. I feel like he still could come."
"Don't be. He's here, now. Pinky promise. I'm coming"
Half an hour later, Cece came in, hair all messed up and dress wrinkled. She sat there and asked me about my day.
"Fine, except that I could've been murdered."
"So you're getting to college?"
"Yes. What about you?"
"Same, but in MIT."
"That's going to make things hard, but go for it, since you want it."
The silence got awkward.
"You want me to microwave something?"
"No. But please replace the Snickers bar your cousin took from me."
Cecilia smiled and handed me a new one.
"This is getting complicated."
"I know. Hopefully, you won't have any visions soon. I need to rest. Being on the verge of losing your bro is never a nice thing to overcome. It's really... egjausting." I said in the middle of a bite.
"I can't imagine your pain. I'm an only child."
"Good for you. Got no one to loje."
She laughed.
