Chealsea's POV
We arrived back at the village in the late afternoon. Dinner was served and the word flew by of how I defended my wife from the beast that was guarding Mt. Nausang. Alice had been fussing over the scratches I've sustained by pushing her out of the way. She was insisting on wound dressing me. But I told her It could be done after dinner. I've suffered worse.
She was looking at me with that ansty expression all throughout dinner, that I had to squeeze her hand lovingly and occasionally kiss the back of her hand to reassure her. I knew she wouldn't stop worrying unless I let her care for me.
Alice, the Alpha mare of the Aswang clan, has a lot of responsibilities in her hand. I knew she served her people with her all. Thinking of how selfish it would be, I wanted her to stay with them. But merely having the idea of leaving her would cause a pang of pain in my chest suffocating me.
