"Dino? Kwinnie? Are you here?" I put down my backpack and searched for the twins inside the house. They are not home yet but it's already four in the afternoon. They are supposed to be home by three.
The gate screeched open and I heard my sister yelling "Dino how many times do I need to remind you that you can't enter the house with your muddy shoes on?!"
She's mad at her twin again. "And how many times do I have to tell you to not play with Hans?!" Dino spit back making Kwin silenced. I opened the door just to find them facing each other but Kwinnie is already in the verge of sobbing.
"What's going on here?" I asked. Kwinnie looked down wiping the tears rolling down her cheeks and Dino looked at me with a guilty expression.
"Sister, Dino kept on fighting with my friend, Hans." Kwinnie said in between her sobs.
"Is that true Dino? I told you it's not good to fight with your friends"
He looked at me with anger seen on his face. "But sister it's because Kwinnie doesn't listen to what I say" he protested.
"I want to play with him that's why!" Wah. My head is starting to ache as I massage my temple.
"But he kept on pushing you away and called you ugly. Why won't you listen?!" Dino adorably shouted back at her sister. I knew it. There's a reason why Dino fought with someone. I smiled thinking of how protective he is to her twin sister. "That's enough kids." I meddled.
I kneeled and hugged Kwinnie who is now wailing loudly. "Hush now baby. Who told you you're ugly huh? That's not true! You're the cutest little bub in town." I looked at Dino giving him thumbs up and he smiled showing his uneven teeth to me. I calmed Kwinnie and kept on rubbing his back soothing her. Being their big sister is a very hard duty but a rewarding job too. I can't bear picturing my life without my sweet little angels.
