If you only had a few days to live, what would you do?
Luther wanted to do all the things he couldn't do because he was locked up while Liseis wanted to get rid of her regrets.
One thing is for sure, they wanted to enjoy it.
"This robe looks expensive."
"Puhaha! That's because it is."
There was a festival at that moment.
"We're really not going to do anything?" Luther asked while caressing the robe.
Liseis shrugged while fixing her dress. "What can we do? There are only three days left before oblivion."
They decided to call the day of disasters the 'oblivion' and decided to just do whatever the hell they want. What could go wrong? The world was going to end anyway.
Uwaaaaaa!
Whooooah!
The streets were loud with the laughter of the people oblivious that they were going to die in a few days.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Liseis and Luther walked throughout these streets.
Flap. Flap. Flap.
Luther's coat, which had the power to block an existence, fluttered with the wind as it prevented the bloodlust of others from being directed to him. This was the reason why he could walk without being stabbed on the way.
'Some noticed but looked away immediately. This item is pretty good.'
Liseis wanted to scream at her dead father after seeing this.
'He had an item like this and hid it from me even though he knew what I would be doing?'
She could never read what was on his mind.
They stooped in front of a portable stall that sold white little clouds on a stick, or that was what it looked like to Luther. Liseis had bought two of these clouds and gave one to him.
"This is called cotton candy. Try it!" she said and let out a 'meoph' sound as she took a giant piece on her mouth.
Luther imitated her with curious eyes that widened after a second. "Ooo-!"
'It feels like sugar is melting in my mouth.'
For the first time in a very long while, he tasted something other than bitterness in his mouth. Luther knew that if he ate something, he still wouldn't be able to swallow it properly. No, trauma didn't leave him that easily. But cotton candy was not something he needed to swallow. It just melted in his mouth and showed him some of the flavors he had forgotten.
'I guess my tongue still works.'
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Then he heard the loud sound of someone punching something.
"Whalr yush doen?"
'What are you doing?'
He asked but the words didn't come out correctly because of the cotton candy inside his mouth. Liseis, the someone who had been punching something, grinned at him enthusiastically while walking away from the destroyed sign.
"I've always hated that sentence."
Luther's stiff facial muscles loosened for a little bit. He also hated the sign. He has seen it at all the introductions of the books he read until he was sick of it.
The two of them brought more cotton candy and walked towards the sea.
Splaaash!
Gentle waves dispersed in the sand on their feet. The water below was cold and the sun above was warm. They stood there, silently bathing in this sight.
"If you could take your memories right now and go back in time, will you still choose this path?" Liseis asked all of a sudden.
Luther nodded his head. "I still would've wanted to know why people wanted to kill me."
"Even if it destroys everything?"
"Mm."
"Me too."
Luther and Liseis flinched. They were surprised by how ruthless they sounded. If time flowed back, they would still make this mistake.
But time didn't rewind.
There was no way to do that.
Nothing is more omnipotent than time. It only flowed forward. It allowed you to be in the 'present' to repent for your sins of the 'past' as you move towards the future. Seconds. Hours. Days. Months. Years. Decades. Centuries. They will pass as you keep on repenting.
But even if you repent, it's not like you were going to be absolutely clean of it.
Some mistakes could never be forgiven.
"It was our fault, wasn't it?" Luther asked with a little voice.
Liseis shrugged. "But we've suffered more than enough, don't you think?"
Fwoooooosh!
A gentle breeze that carried the scent of salt passed by them and danced with their hair and clothes. They silently looked up. The sky was clear. Soon, it will be filled with smoke again. The sea was also blue and empty. But soon, it will be red and filled with dead bodies.
Only two people knew.
Oblivion was coming.
