The Sp-Virus has 4 stages:
In the first stage known as Sp1 which is the early stage, symptoms of coughing and bleeding from the mouth, eyes, ears, and nose are experienced.
In the second stage, Sp2, the human cells are altered, thereby mutating and changing the body's cellular structure.
In the third stage, Sp3, the infected who survive the 1st and 2nd stages are known as 'Bio-genetics', possessing traits of speed, strength, and hyper senses.
In the fourth stage, Sp4, the host does not survive this, death is inevitable to anyone who gets to this stage.
It is not known for anyone in the Sp3 stage to enter it rapidly. Kimura Hiro is a special case.
