Cheng Xiu turned towards the voice.
A girl in a hot-pink tule dress leaned against one of the tables, flanked on either side by women in evening dresses that were also different shades of pink.
"Qiless Cheng, I am surprised that you are here!" the girl said with a high-pitched laugh. "Maybe if you sit at the door, they will give you some scraps to eat. I am sure that is why you are here."
Cheng Xiu rolled her eyes. That insult was long-winded and fell flat.
"Dee," Gu Shu said in greeting. "You should not talk like that about my friends!"
Cheng Xiu sighed. The girl should not talk like that about anyone at all, not just Gu Shu's friends. Not that she would say that to the pink-haired girl. If she did, it would just lead to another argument and unnecessary conflict that Cheng Xiu frankly did not have the energy for.
"Miss Gu," the she-devil said, "I would like to ask you to refrain from using that name. You have lost the right to it."
