Chereads / Imaginative Earthmage / Chapter 17 - WHAT!?

Chapter 17 - WHAT!?

"This is where the toilets are, over there is the gymnasium, over there is the gym -don't get the two confused, gym and gymnasium are different- and over there is the building where we go to," Matthew pointed out the said areas, mechanically explaining to Prince what was what.

Prince slapped Matthew on the back of the head, saying in a mocking tone: "I know already, I know a lot! Stop being dumb and show me the important places, peasant!"

Matthew imagined strangling the kid, making him suffer in multiple ways. 'I could make him swallow some dirt, then clot his blood from the inside...'

Sighing, he forced on an apologetic smile instead. "I am deeply sorry, Prince, I will show you the important places."

He had already shown Prince around everywhere, starting from the school entrance to the senior building, but it seemed that Prince wanted to go to whatever he deemed was the "important places". So, Matthew went to the most important places he assumed a rich kid like Prince would want to go to. The Principal's office, the hangout for rich nobles at the back of the school, the battle dome and all the places that Prince's classes would be in...which were the same classes that he shared with Matthew.

"Looks like your not so stupid, stupid earth mage."

A vein bulged on Matthew's forehead. What a cool first mission! If this was what counted as a mission, Matthew wondered if he would ever have to do the student council's laundry!

'Bear with it, endure, remember that just being in the student council unlocks my future.'

"Earth mage! Open the door for me!"

"OPEN IT YOURSELF!" Matthew pushed Prince on his ass, entering the classroom and slamming it closed behind himself. 'Nope, nope, nope! I cannot deal with that!'

Grumbling, he plopped down on his seat and brooded.

"...Anyways, class, the solar system comprises of eight planets, all orbiting around the sun..." Julius continued, ignoring Matthew's sudden entrance. That was, until Prince followed him in.

"W-w-w-w-why you!" He - ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) - stammered, absolutely shocked at the guile of the filthy earth mage. "Don't you know who my Father is?!"

Matthew glared daggers at Prince, "I know, and I don't care! Don't talk to me, don't even look at me! You loud, noisy brat!"

The room went silent, all eyes on the two.

Julius breathed in, then sighed out. Then with a calm face and gentle voice, he said: "You two, out of my classroom. You can come in once you've learned to behave."

Grumbling, Matthew exited alongside Prince, who's face was cascaded in shadows.

Once outside, Matthew shot his hand towards Prince and grabbed him by the collar. "What's your problem, huh? I finally get into this nice school, and everything starts getting better, now I have to deal with a spoiled brat like you? Do you plan to bully me? Do you think I'm an easy target? I'm sure a rich kid like you has so many other rich schools, so why are you even here? You should have never even come here! You shouldn't have even been bor-" Matthew instantly let Prince's collar go, dropping the boy to his knees. "W-what? What are you doing?"

Matthew's voice was caught in his throat, he didn't quite know what to do or how to handle the situation...because...Prince was crying.

"I-I'm sorry, don't hit me..."

Matthew's face contorted into itself, "What!? Why would I-"

"I'll leave you alone, just stop bullying me..."

'How did our situations switch?!' Matthew put both hands on his head, clutching at his hair. He had made kids older than him cry for their mommas before, all of them deserving of such pain, but for some reason he felt bad for the kid. "Okay, okay, just stop crying!" He bent over to help Prince stand.

And as if perfectly timed, Julius exited the class to see Matthew standing over the crying Prince, hands coiling around his collar. "Matthew Herzia! What on earth is going on here!"

"W-what! I didn't do anything!"

Prince suddenly doubled in tears, "Teacher! He's mean!"

Julius massaged his brow, exhaling, "Matthew, lunchtime detention, this is going on school record."

"WHAT!" He nearly pulled all his hair out.

And so it was, when the bell rang Matthew served his sentence and brooded the entire time.

'Unfair, unfair, unfair, UNFAIR!'

And after it was done, and he was back in class with Prince, Matthew could not stop glaring doom at the boy, who was genuinely afraid of him. After school, Matthew stormed over to the student council's office and kicked the door open, a blazing aura of anger around him.

"Constance! What the heck!"

Raising a finger, Constance tutted and waved a single finger to hush Matthew, "Language! What would you're mother think?" He put down his book and turned to face Matthew, "so what seems to be the problem?"

"That kid! I'm going to kill him!" Matthew's face grew ugly with rage. "So stupid, so fat and ugly!"

Constance laughed melodiously, hitting the table rhythmically, "what happened? Were you surprised with how Prince's true nature really is?"

Matthew's ugly grimace eased into a accusing frown, "you knew? You knew!"

Laughing ever more, Constance spun around in his chair. "Of course I knew! Why else would I put you on that mission?"

Pure shock, anger, confusion? A myriad of emotions were fighting for their place to show on Matthew's face. "Why?!"

"Its because, just being Prince's tour isn't your true mission." Constance shook off the mirth, replacing it with solemn seriousness, "your true mission is looking after that kid."

"...WHAT!?"
